Rough Start; But All is Well Now!

I bought into the Trigger Happy project on Kick Start and knew at the time that I was investing in an product that had only been prototyped and was not ready for prime time without additionally development. Knowing this I understood that there would be delays, snafu's, disappointments, etc as many startup projects endure. The development team I think was overwhelmed by the amount of detail that such a project required and it took a while for them to comprehend the work management system they needed to get in place. Communication from the development team was spotty but an effort was made to keep investors appraised of the progress. As to the internal struggles the development team had, well that happens to a lot of teams during the initial ramp up to production.Having said all of the above, I got my C3 TriggerHappy cable and downloaded the IPhone app. Everything worked great with the exception of the HDR mode. I emailed the developers and did get a reply that said the fix was in and an update to the app was forthcoming to correct the problem. The HDR bug only effected the IPhone and not the IPad. After the IPhone app updated everything works as promised and I am completely happy with the Trigger Happy cable and app.Recently I utilized the Trigger Happy for shooting at night during a Light Painting Event one of the area Photography Clubs sponsored. I used several of the functions to capture the images and was totally delighted with the results. The only other thing I would add if you do buy the Trigger Happy, then also purchase one of the Smartphone Bicycle holders, otherwise on long exposures your stuck holding your smartphone or trying to leave it balanced on top of your hotshoe, and, when it falls and at some point it will fall, you will ruin the shot you are taking. With the bike holder you can fasten it to the leg of your tripod.Again, I can highly recommend the Trigger Happy and personally feel the team has the kinks worked out of the application.

Great product

I don't know what all the bad reviews are talking about. I ordered the product to use with my 5D Mark II and iPhone 4, got it within a few days and it works like a charm (Amazon fulfillment). I contacted them on kickstarter to get the story and it looks like they initially had some issues with shipping because a disgruntled employee screwed them over. Maybe the business got a rough start, but the product is great.

Works well, don't need an extra device.

I purchased this device as a backer of the Kickstarter program. While it did take much longer to receive than initially promised, once it arrived, it has worked like gem. I always have my Android phone with me on photo shoots and this prevents one extra thing I may leave behind. $130 for the Canon intervalometer or $50 for Trigger Happy. A no brainer.

Buyer beware

This product started out as a KickStarter project and appears to now be available to the public for purchase. Potential future buyers should be aware of a number of very concerning factors:1) Lack of customer serviceThis is run by a couple of individuals that take weeks to reply back to email inquires. I know this first hand due to my numerous emails to them. Typically their reply is a canned response where they indicate they will get back to you in 5-10 days but weeks if not months can go by.2) Lack of product application supportThe application for iOS as well as Android are very buggy, crash frequently and the user is left to hold the short end of the stick. Reporting defects to the creators will fall on deaf ears or be replied to that you don't know what you are doing. Being an avid photographer that actually knows how to use the camera settings, as well as a Software Engineer, I know the issues are within their software. They have even gone to call their users idiots.3) Defective productsThe cables are often defective and they won't send you a new one with a RMA, you have to send yours back and you are lucky to get a replacement. I've gone 2 months still without a replacement. Many users are also in this same boat. Their Canon as well as Nikon cables have had numerous issues.4) Waste of moneyThere are other alternatives that work out of the box and you actually get the product you purchase. Many people who backed this project on Kick Starter still have not received their product several months after them being "ready to ship".Those interested should look at TriggerTrap, their cables work out of the box (Nikon & Canon) as well as their application is easier to use, more intuitive and simply works. On top of the fact that it costs less.Ultimately I would not recommend this Trigger Happy product to ANYONE.

Fun Gift

I bought this cord for my daughter for her birthday and she loves it. She is going through a big photography phase and loves to make time lapses with this cord. It is a great gift and I would recommend it to any of my friends :)

Gave up

I never give a negative review, but on this product, I have to. Sometimes you just have to tell everyone what happened to steer people away from a product and to let the company know they have A LOT work to do.This project had so much promise. I backed them at Kickstarter and was very excited. The excitement wore off after I got my cable about 3 months late and it did not work. I kept track of the forum at Kickstarter to see if an update would ever come, but all I read was customer after customer being ignored or treated poorly. A poorly worded kickstarter update email basically called customers idiots for not knowing how to use their cameras and then weeks later, they admitted the software did not work and an update was coming. The whole process was and still is a train wreck.About 3 weeks ago, I found another solution that actually worked the moment I installed the OS and plugged it into my camera. I have officially given up on Trigger happy because it is not worth my time. I marked it down as a loss and moved on. I believe the cable is now sitting in a box with old lens caps and extra bag dividers and other junk.
