Allowed me to add a Biden power outlet for my dash cams in two cars. Worked as I had hoped.

second time I have purchased these, and they work great. Haven't had any issues with these.

Update: I'm leaving my original review intact below in case someone else makes the same assumption that I did; that all 12v aux/cigarette lighter sockets are created equally. After posting my review I skimmed through other reviews and saw it mentioned that "marine" sockets are a bit bigger than standard car sockets. So the issue I mention in my review below is due to my lack of knowledge that there are 2 sizes of sockets. The point is, this socket is not suitable for cars but apparently is fine for boats. Original Review: The sockets seem well built and are easy to install and secure but they fall short in the one area that matters the most. The socket opening is too big. Whatever you plug in, in the best case it will have a lot of room to wiggle. In the worst case and most common case, the male adapter will just fall out. I installed primarily for a Uniden radar detector power port but when you push it in it just falls right back out. Even if you twist the male end so that the negative contact points align with the arrows on the socket, it falls out. I'll have to buy another brand. These just don't work.

I actually replaced the cigarette lighter in out '06 Buick Rendezvous with this. *NOTE- This is not to be used with a cigarette lighter- power port only* Since we do not smoke, we only needed it for a power port, so no biggie for us. The original was a snap in, but one of the tabs broke so it would move around when plugging & unplugging. Since this is threaded, if it loosens up, I should be able to retighten it. The power in the counsel for the rear seats broke in the same manner, so I actually replaced 2 in out car. I did have to use some butt splice crimp connectors as I had to cut the factory plug off (may vary by vehicle) but I just used the supplied harness & trimmed it just after (eliminating) the fuse holder. That circuit is already fused, so leaving the fuse in is likely to force you to rip it back apart to change the fuse . Heck, I still got one left.

I thought these were great, worked fine for charging cell phone. recently tried using them for inflating my iSUP (air pump drawing 110W or ~9A). after a couple minutes my air pump lost power / I couldn't get any voltage from the added outlet. Plugged it into the next outlet, same story. Third outlet, no power. Tore my dash apart this past weekend to discover the fuse holders had MELTED on the first two - they became hard brittle plastic and I was able to get one broken apart enough to confirm the fuse was still good, the other I accidentally crushed the end of the fuse from the 2nd socket trying to get the plastic off enough to test the fuse. I also discovered the inside of the outlet had melted around the positive terminal and that the spade terminal connectors were very loose on a couple of the connections (hence why the 3rd socket wouldn't work - the negative lead had fallen completely off and wouldn't stay on the terminal)
