Brilliant little lightweight strimmer with bags of power.
I have a large collection of Ryobi One+ tools & batteries, buying this strimmer was a no brainier. I have been a big fan of the recent breed of Ryobi products, and found them to be very reliable and well built. I must confess however, I was a bit sceptical about buying this strimmer as I have used strimmer over the years mostly petrol or corded. I can't say I've enjoyed using any of them. But, I have recently moved to a property with a small rear garden (18' square) so decided to purchase this tool, not expecting it to be very good, as it was in my opinion extremely inexpensive. I wouldn't call our garden lawn, but ideal for our dog to sit out in when weather is good. As the area isn't that big it didn't warrant buying a lawn mower, as the ground isn't that even. Anyway, it was beginning to look like Borneo out there, hence this purchase. Well I was absolutely gobsmacked! It too me around 45 minutes to strim it, and it coped remarkably well. I was using a 5ah battery which was freshly charged, and when I Finnished it still had 2 bars left. Considering our back yard is a mixture of grass, stinging nettles, brambles etc, I didn't expect it to cope very well but, what a performer. It was fantastic. It didn't miss a beat. Fantastic little strimmer. Very light, and easy to set up. I also Perchached the Ryobi Double serrated blade fitting in case the ordinary strimmer string couldn't cope. But it flew through the weeds, brambles, nettles etc with ease. Absolutely brilliant tool. Can't hesitate to give it five star rating. Well done Ryobi. You've done it again. Excellent inexpensive strimmer.

Excellent. Recommended.
Best strimmer I've had, and I've had a few! Lightweight but effective. Great for both horizontal and edging. So much easier to use than the corded ones. Recommended.

Ideal - so far (one day’s trial)
It arrived yesterday (28th April 2023). I already have seven Ryobi tools plus four batteries including two 5.0aH. I “assembled it this morning in ten minutes. Carry handle is obvious but the shield took a little longer. As usual, the instructions were useless. Clipping the front projection into the slot is simple but the rear (with the screw) needs a powerful push downwards toward the screw hole. Once in place, hole and screw line up. I have a large garden, an acre roughly with a lot of edges and awkward spots. I have completed most of the edges easily on one charge, even the thought grass still wet from dew. I strongly recommend buying, manufacturing or, in my case, altering a (petrol) strummer harness for use as a support. The lower back reminded me I needed one. So far, the line has been good enough to tackle even the toughest of weeds and the charge is still going strong. (NOTE - I am used to a powerful two-stroke petroleum trimmer which tackles the toughest the garden has BUT it’s power comes at a cost - noise. I usually wear a helmet with a face guard and ear protection. Although the face guard is prudent, I no longer require the ear protection. Ryobi is quiet. Neighbours will be pleased. After a few week’s use, like all my other Ryobi kit, this is a great piece of kit. I was pleasantly surprised by how long the reel of plastic cutting thread actually lasted and by the size and type of plants with which it deals effectively. I have not tried recharging the reel with cutting twine but it looks very similar to my two-stroke. Changing to the plastic cutter blades, I noticed the increased vibrations but, once again, I was pleased by how simple it was to use and by how long they lasted. HIghly recommended. I have now completed all the edges and rid the spinner of most of its tenacious weed and not yet had to change batteries or re-charge spools; not even sure how that is done but will find out soon; more anon. One disappointing feature is the ubiquitous “Made in China” logo. What is wrong with British manufacturing? So many items purchased today have the same label (not revealed until after purchase) and surely no beyond British companies. I am not able to report on longevity, battery charge, etc. My garden was growing so well, I just had to deal with it.
