Great tool. Controls dust. Quick and accurate holes.
I used this to cut 14 3" holes and it works excellent. Great at controlling the dust. I would not recommend it for anything other than drywall. The cutters while not available separately are easily removed and sharpened. After 14 holes, still very sharp. Make sure you dump the dust out between holes. If not it goes everywhere as soon as you start the drill. Follow the RPM guidelines. Dont clean with water. There is a ball bearing that spins in the center that could be damaged. I used compressed air and a rag. Save the box. This thing is sharp and the box keeps everything together and protects the cutters.

Perfect for recessed light holes
I used this hole cutter to install 11 LedWaves PR15 ultra thin 6 inch recessed lights. It worked well cutting through 5/8 inch thick sheetrock. I set the blades after making 3 practice cuts in spare material. Even though I contacted a few ceiling joists in some of the holes and one nail, the blades remained fixed to the original setting and continued to cut well. There was no marked difference between the first and last hole cuts (see pics). Be sure to heed cautions on maintaining good control of the tool in case you encounter objects (such as joists in my case). This tool was definitely worth the price if you are interested in achieving consistent hole cuts in a fraction of the time with very little mess.

Awesome tool, makes me want to cut holes!
Bought this to install 10 speakers in my ceiling. This was the only one that received positive reviews of all the ones I looked at, also, it had the largest cutting radius. I can see why it received so many great reviews, it works great, and catches all of the dust so there is no mess to cleanup afterwards! Only problem is that I will never need it again, but it was well worth the money for just 10 holes!

Clean cut through drywall and very helpful for ceiling light cuts
I waited until after I had used this hole saw to cut 20 cuts into drywall. Most of my ceiling lights were LED floating lights where the exact accuracy +/- 1/2 inch of the placement was sufficient for my purposes. I could measure the size needed and test on throw away pieces before cutting for the real thing. Holes were clean and it worked well. The cutting edges are still sharp enough to continue to use (though I am complete with my project). The challenge comes with working existing ceiling outlet boxes and can lights. You either have to get the measurements for on -center exactly precise or drill a little larger cutout circle to be sure you have cutout complete. That is the reason for 4 vs 5 stars. Otherwise very happy with this even though this ended up costing me $2.50 per hole I cut. It captured the dust as advertised as long at the right tension was applied. I would recommended to a DIYer.

Great tool
This tool does exactly what it is supposed to do. I've used it to cut through 1/2" drywall as well as an old plaster ceiling overlaid with 1/2" drywall. The HSS blades that come with the kit were fairly dull after 8 cuts through the 2-layer ceiling. I ordered the carbide blades from the manufacturer for the next ceiling and was thrilled with the results. Fast, clean cuts through 2 layers with no apparent dulling of the blades. I would note however that the tang on the carbide blade is longer and needed to be ground down to fit this model. I would also echo what others said in regards to binding up the tool; be sure to approach the surface as level as possible after getting the drill up to speed.Update: Wanted to reiterate the importance of being mindful of the process when starting a hole. I very much like this tool, but was a bit cavalier with a recent project and ended up paying the price. My house was built in the 1920's with walls/ceilings are made of plaster board (which contains Portland cement and is thus very hard). This stuff was used after horsehair went by the boards and is incredibly tough. I approached the ceiling at a slight angle at lower RPMs and was treated to a painful elbow twist when the drill bound up. To make matters worse, it was the first of 6 holes which made the rest of the day less than pleasant. My account is ABSOLUTELY NOT an indictment of the product but a tale of caution when using this tool. My advice is to be methodical & let the tool do its job.

Good ideea, but the design needs improvement.
I will start saying that the tool did work for me overall. I wish I could give this product 5 stars, but that would mean perfect value for the money, perfect durability, perfect design.... and is not the case. Here is why:You can buy a similar tool WITHOUT the "bowl" for about $10. So, the rest of the money you are paying is to have that feature. The bowl adds two crucial benefits to the tool: keeps the dust/debris content and helps keeping the tool perpendicular on the working surface (so the blades would touch the surface in the same time). Well, both benefits are partially voided by a design flaw (in my opinion). The cutting blades go beyond the bowl's ridge right at the starting point. Meaning, the blades will start cutting before the rim of the bowl touches the work surface. Look at the pic #4 of the product and you can see the tips extending past the rim while in a rest position. At first, I didn't know what in the world I'm doing wrong. As the blades were touching the surface there was dust all over the place and tool wobbling at the begging of the cut. After two not so perfect cuts where I had to fix the drywall around the edge of the cut, I realize what the issue was. All I did was to add a gasket (about 1/4 inch thick) around the rim of the bowl (see pic), so the blades would be more recessed into the bowl. After that improvement, the tool worked like a charm. I was able to cut eight more holes that were perfect (see pic) with no dust in my face.As I was saying at the beginning, the tool did help me and I'll recommend buying as long as you know what to do with it.
