The Japanese phenomenon that teaches us the simple yet profound lessons required to liberate our real selves and find lasting happiness. The Courage to be Disliked shows you how to unlock the power within yourself to become your best and truest self, change your future and find lasting happiness. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 19th century psychology alongside Freud and Jung, the authors explain how we are all free to determine our own future free of the shackles of past experiences, doubts and the expectations of others. It's a philosophy that's profoundly liberating, allowing us to develop the courage to change, and to ignore the limitations that we and those around us can place on ourselves. The result is a book that is both highly accessible and profound in its importance. Millions have already read and benefited from its wisdom. Now that The Courage to be Disliked has been published for the first time in English, so can you. Review: The Courage to Be Disliked: A Profound and Liberating Perspective on Personal Growth - "The Courage to Be Disliked" by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga is a thought-provoking and transformative book that challenges conventional wisdom about happiness, interpersonal relationships, and personal growth. Drawing on the principles of Alfred Adler, a renowned psychologist, this book presents a refreshing and liberating perspective on life. The authors introduce the Socratic dialogue format, where a young man engages in conversations with a philosopher, challenging his beliefs and assumptions. Through this dialogue, readers are invited to explore their own deeply ingrained beliefs and societal expectations that hinder personal growth and hinder their ability to live a fulfilling life. One of the most significant takeaways from this book is the concept of "separation of tasks." It teaches that individuals have the power to choose their own thoughts, attitudes, and actions independently of the past or the expectations of others. This notion empowers readers to take responsibility for their own happiness and break free from the victim mentality. It encourages personal agency and self-acceptance, emphasizing that it is possible to live authentically, regardless of external circumstances. Another valuable aspect of "The Courage to Be Disliked" is its exploration of interpersonal relationships. The book challenges the common belief that our past experiences and the behavior of others determine our present relationships. Instead, it argues that we have the ability to form new connections and choose how we interact with others, enabling us to foster healthier and more fulfilling relationships. This emphasis on individual responsibility and mutual respect provides a fresh perspective on the dynamics of human interaction. Furthermore, the book delves into the nature of happiness. It suggests that happiness is not dependent on external achievements or validation from others but stems from an internal sense of purpose and contentment. By embracing one's true self and pursuing one's own goals and desires, readers are encouraged to find a profound sense of fulfillment and joy. One of the strengths of this book is its accessibility. The Socratic dialogue format makes complex psychological concepts easily understandable and relatable. The conversations between the young man and the philosopher are engaging, thought-provoking, and provide practical examples that readers can apply to their own lives. However, it is important to note that "The Courage to Be Disliked" is not a quick fix or a step-by-step guide to happiness. It challenges deeply ingrained beliefs and requires introspection and personal reflection. Readers may need to revisit certain passages or concepts to fully grasp their meaning and integrate them into their lives. In comparison to other self-help and personal development books, "The Courage to Be Disliked" stands out due to its unique approach and philosophical foundation. It encourages readers to question societal norms, overcome their fears of social disapproval, and embrace their own uniqueness. While the book may not resonate with everyone, those willing to explore unconventional ideas will find it a transformative and empowering read. In conclusion, "The Courage to Be Disliked" is a remarkable book that challenges readers to rethink their beliefs about happiness, relationships, and personal growth. Its profound insights, presented through engaging dialogues, offer a liberating perspective on life. If you are open to exploring new ideas and are ready to take responsibility for your own happiness, this book can be a catalyst for personal transformation. Review: Courage to be disliked - Great book, a must read for modern youngsters. The title itself speaks a lot

A Book That Walks Beside You
Reading The Courage to Be Disliked felt like having a wise companion walking beside me rather than just reading a book. What makes it special is how its lessons stay with you; whenever I make a mistake, doubt myself, or react emotionally, something from this book suddenly pops into my mind. Its biggest strength is how deeply it challenges your thinking about fear, approval, responsibility, and living your own life. At the same time, like any meaningful book, it has a few areas that may not connect with every readerโit can feel repetitive, slow, and at times a little overwhelming, especially for those who enjoy fiction or faster-paced books. Still, despite those flaws, itโs a powerful and genuinely thought-provoking read that stays with you long after finishing it. My rating would be a solid four.

Truly amazing. The conversation and dialogue between the youth and the philosopher gives you glimpse to different perspective and reason for the action occured. If someone is going through a phase "why is this happening to me?". You should definitely read it. Gave it to my student as well and she does she everyday event in a different light.

Investing on you for this is reasonable .
The best book if you are 14 or above read this as soon as possible before the time runs out ,this is really gonna help you if you are also stuck in life at any point ! This book is written in the form of interactive conversation btw two persons which make it more easy to understand and there will also come times where you can also relate to this conversation. The quality of paper is very good as I bought the hardcover one. Best of luck

Got me Thinking
I found this book deeply provocative. It made me reflect on my own actions, or lack thereof. I could work more often on NOT pleasing others so much. You know, saying 'no', even when it hurts. Fascinating and eye-opening book. I recommend this read to all you champions out there.

Very Insightful
I've read many spiritual, philosophical, self-help books, and for me, this is one of the best. When I first started reading it, I was very disappointed at the format - purely conversational style. After advancing a bit, I found that the ideas shared were so thought-provoking that they completely compensated for the format. The book revolves around Adlerian psychology, which I hadn't heard before. I found it extremely surprising how a theory that is close to 100 years old can offer so many ideas that feel so fresh, reasonable, and yet, so vastly counterintuitive from todayโs beliefs regarding human behaviour. I would not recommend to people who dislike challenging traditional beliefs of human behaviour (their own included)

Great book, important perspectives
Doesn't make sense, and there's no real logic to it, but it gives you a certain constructive perspective on how to approach life. If you choose one self-help book, this is the one.

The content is great, but the book's production quality is disappointing.
This book is super interesting and eye-opening, but the quality of the cover and paper is definitely not what I expected. The cover is super thin, and there are some gaps/holes in the glue layer between the cover and pages. Reading this book once is okay, but after the 2nd or 3rd time, I assume it will fall apart.
