I recieved it after painstaking wait of 27 days but that was already mentioned when I ordered it, so all good. However, the book was sent in a thin package of cardboard box due to which the corners of the hardcover sustained certain impact and got creases during transit. This too when I had already messaged and requested the sellers to send it in a safe packaging. So that is really disappointing from the seller's part. I had ordered two more books of Loomis' from another seller after I ordered this one and they did a fantastic job in the packaging as well as they deliver it earlier. Other than that, book is genuine and attractive. It looks like it is a collector's edition book. I don't need to explain how accomplished and a great instructor Andrew Loomis is as an author and an artist. This book is suitable for beginner to medium level artists. Its first edition came out in 1943, that's how old this book is. It has some great instructions that are overlooked easily nowadays. Good foundation! The copy I recieved is a 2011 reprint of the latest version of the contents. Thanks. All the best! Review: Figure Drawing for All its Worth is Worth the Money. - Andrew Loomis being a great artist and even greater teacher has done it again, my 3rd and final purchase of Mr. Loomis, the other two being Creative Illustrations and Drawing the Head and Hands. Titan book and done a great job again with the reprint of this old and timeless classic. The book covers each and every aspect of figure drawing the approach, blocking, drawing mannikins, anatomy (I would recommend Classic Human anatomy and Classic Human Anatomy in Motion for more in-depth study), foreshortening, live figures, standing figure, figure in action, balance and rhythm, rendering, little about head, ahnds and feet (Drawing the Head and Hands for more in-depth study) and of course the opening and closing chat that I have come to love. Highly recommend.

Read it practice from it.
Another gem by Loomis. The author has explained proportion, perspective in relation to human proportion, movement or action drawing (in relation to perspective). Skeleton and muscles, light and shadow, planes and lots of sketches to practice from. I highly recommend the book.

THE BEST
Best book as it is from the master of anatomy

Most books on figure drawing go something like this: Step 1-sketch the figure; Step 2-fill in all the details. That's a HUGE step from the sketch to the detailed drawing!!! Many so-called figure drawing instructional books are simply portfolios of the author's artwork with very little instruction. Tsk. Loomis is different. He goes through all the intermediate steps you need to draw a figure. You learn to draw "manikins" from your imagination, with body parts in the proper proportions, and in all kinds of poses. He also teaches you how to draw the figure in perspective. Once you master that, he covers all the anatomy you need to know in order to create realistic figures. Finally with all that mastered, he covers clothing & shading the figure (value) along with how to draw some of the more complex body parts like heads, hands, and feet. As a professor I can state confidently that the step-by-step teaching approach in this book is the best that you can find, outside of maybe taking a class. But even most figure drawing classes don't cover the material in this book! To summarize you learn the fundamentals of drawing figures: proportion, anatomy, perspective, values, color, and knowledge of mediums and materials. The only drawback for today's students (who I find mainly want to draw Manga and Anime-style characters) is that the drawing style is dated. But if you master the fundamentals in this book you can easily adapt them to other genres. - Professor F., past-Director of UNM's Interdisciplinary Film & Digital Media Program
