Are these sturdy, good quality?

Works great sealant stopped the slow leaks.

can it be used with pvc mesh - ie "collapsable" rain barrels - to re-seal the seams?

I don't believe so - there is a warning on the label that says it doesn't work well on seams.

Will it work for an inflatable hot tub?

Sealant will cure pourosity problems (pinhole leaks) on any inflatable item

Will this clog the pressure release valve?

No. when you re-inflate the air chamber any Sealant on the valve will blow off. As a precaution you can have a wet q-tip handy to swab the valve .
