Fallkniven DC4 Diamond/Ceramic Whetstone

Works well. I carry the DC3 in my pocket, with my pocket knife. And the DC4 rides in my tool bag. They are both excellent stones, and will quickly refresh the edge of a slightly dull knife. I sharpen my knives as soon as I take them out. A couple of strokes on each side and the knife is sharp. A trick I use is to rub the leather sheath with compound and use it as a strop. They will get a razor edge if you need it.

Id highly recommend this for a bug out bag as its super light weight and if you know what you're doing its an excellent tool fot sharpening a VG 10 or cpn 3v steel blade's. Like falkniven or cold steel blades. This is a smooth whetstone. Very tough and fast sharpening any super steel blade. The material it's made of are high quality. Both sides are a bit rough at first but smoother as you use it more. This stone doesn't need oil or water. Just keep it clean and wipe off any metal shavings with a paper or moist wipe. Excellent for a bug out bag and sharpening high quality knives. This larger stone appears to be more area to grab and in case you're not used to using a whetstone like the dc4 wear leather or kevlar cut resistant gloves. Great product and the leather package is high quality in appearance. And the material is also high quality. Great product!! Highly recommend!!

I only bought this one because I lost my first one. If the knife is really bad this will take some time. I use it for a quick sharpening until I can get to my larger sharpening equipment. This will get a blade sharp, it does take a little practice to hold to you don’t test your blade on a finger tip, and because it’s usually held in the users off hand it’s not a flat surface so sharpening angle can be a learning curve. But a little time practicing and it’s a good tool. I carry mine all the time, if used before a knife is really dull it brings its back pretty quickly.

Good stone

The compact size is right on the sweet spot of being both very useable and packable, I thought putting a working edge on a dulled s35vn knife would be a headache but the grit on the stone (non diamond) side made the job easier than I thought. Achieved a hair shaving edge with it, using the stone like an axe puck, circular motion along the edge. Money well spent on this sharpening stone.

I have been using the DC4 & DC3 pocket sharpeners for years and they always perform great. The combination they use on the diamond and ceramic sides, in my experiences using in the field are right on the mark. I’ll continue using these as field sharpeners, which is what they are. I do use them most of the time at home or base camp as main stones simply because I have been using them so long that it’s a muscle memory kinda thing. As far as Quality Control issues I have heard and seen some people say are poor, well you’re always going to find people out there that believe in a pessimistic view and approach to everything. That said, sure in a perfect world where perfection rules. This isn’t a perfect world and if you need your sharpening tools to be perfect, then you probably need to learn how to sharpen edged blades and tools, cause ultimately you are the one in charge of the stone. The operator during the sharpening process should be the master of the art. It’s a great tool to bring a keen edge on a knife and that’s what you get. The rest is up to you and your experience and technique on sharpening. Exactly like anything thing else you want to do and become more than proficient at and with. 5 Stars all day and twice on Sunday for these little sharpeners. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

Recommended by collectors, makers, and enthusiasts alike. The DC4 is a great stone. It comes with a carrying pouch, one face of which is leather sturdy enough to clip something to. Such as a folding knife, if your knife has a clip, which can greatly assist in program compliance - IE carrying this everywhere you go. I'm a very beginner-level hand-sharpener. And even I was able to get a passable edge on my knife with this in a short amount of time. And my current knife is a bit of a pain, since it's a very narrow hollow-grind before an abrupt secondary bevel. While I did scuff the surface of my knife a bit as I started (which isn't a problem, and totally is my own bad form), I was able to quickly get a good edge.

Compact sharpener that does the job. Recommend priming the synthetic sapphire side with some wet and dry first. Took a bit of practice (due to my ham fisted inability to judge the angle of the knife to stone and replicate it on each stroke) but after a couple of days I got the hang of it and then went on a sharpening mission... EDC knives, kitchen knives, long forgotten pen knives in my fishing kit...all became sharp enough to denude my forearms of hair...oh and with a bit of care can use the leather case edging as a leather strop. May not quite match the Japanese whet stones for finish, but then you don't have to sell your Granny to afford it. Happy with this easy carry little sharpener.
