Born in Warsaw, Poland, on November 7, 1867, Marie Curie was forbidden to attend the male-only University of Warsaw, so she enrolled at the Sorbonne in Paris to study physics and mathematics. There she met a professor named Pierre Curie, and the two soon married, forming one of the most famous scientific partnerships in history. Together they discovered two elements and won a Nobel Prize in 1903. (Later Marie won another Nobel award for chemistry in 1911.) She died in Savoy, France, on July 4, 1934, a victim of many years of exposure to toxic radiation. Review: very good. - I enjoyed reading it. Great Book
I can't say enough about these "who was" books. My granddaughter (age 7) loves reading them and learning about great historical figures. I have never seen her so interested in reading! Yes, these books do tell the truth about a subject and the time frame in which they lived. This can be objectionable and/or disheartening to some but these are facts, rather one agrees with them or not! The reality of life is people can achieve greatness! They can also fail on their journey. They can also overcome their mistakes. We have read 3 of these "who was" books so far and I think all of these books inspire young people and open the door for additional discussion between the young reader and an adult. I will be buying more "who was" books.

Great purchase
My 7 year old daughter loved this book. It was her first big girl book.:) She even dressed up as Marie Curie for world book day at school. We are now planning a trip to the museum in Paris to see her work. You can tell it really made an impression on my daughter.
