Totally worth it!
I bought one of these to replace my original board after seeing that this board comes with newer firmware and is supposed to be “silent.” First, this board is a 1 to 1 replacement for the stock Ender 3 board and is plug and play, which is really nice. It’s also very, VERY quiet. I’m not sure how much of that is due to my stepper dampers in addition to this board, however, it really is a night and day difference between this board and stock. Unfortunately, the first board I received was DOA, but customer support was quick to work with me, and sent out a replacement. The replacement took a little while to show up, but once it did, everything worked great. Pros: - Packaging was very nice. Board was in an anti-static bag inside a padded box, so it was able to survive the rough shipping process totally intact. - 1 to 1 replacement, just unplug wires from the stock board, remove it from the housing, put this new board in, and plug all the wires back in. - This board is EXTREMELY quiet. I also have stepper motor dampers installed on the X, Y, and Z motors, and I seriously cannot hear them while they’re moving, however, even with my extruder motor which does not have a stepper damper, I still only just barely hear anything if I listen closely. The cooling fans are now by FAR the loudest part of the printer. I am unsure how much of that is due to the newer firmware, and it may be possible that flashing newer firmware to the stock board would have a similar effect. - Customer support was great. They weren’t able to fix the original board but were able to send me another that is working great. Cons: - First board was DOA. I’m seriously happy with this purchase. I was skeptical at first about the whole “silent” claim, and really just wanted a spare board in case anything happened to the first one, but they’re not exaggerating about how quiet this board truly is. Totally a worthwhile investment for your Ender 3.

Super silent motherboard! Amazing!
This was bought to replace the standard motherboard on my Creality Ender 5 Plus. Ordered in place of the motherboard that Creality recommended on their website (which didn’t fit my ended 5 Plus!) and I couldn’t be happier! Changing boards is simple when you watch the right YouTube video and it worked with no issues. We did a comparison before and afterwards for sound difference, and now I struggle to tell when the printer is online and printing, it is amazing! It was incredibly loud before. It has made overnight prints an absolute breeze and the quality is fantastic, my printer prints better than ever though this may be nothing to do with the board, I suspect I’m just so pleased with how easy everything was to put together, and how quiet it is now, that I am attributing the new board to my print quality too. Decent cost, quick delivery, simple integration and no reprogramming necessary! Silent board is silent. Will upgrade my other printers after Christmas!

Fantastic upgrade.
I have the original 1.1.4 Mainboard. Installing this one was about as hard as it should; Some of the wires are very short, so installing it is a bit tedious. However, all the connections are exactly the same as on the original mainboard, and are labeled the same. Once installed, the printer worked just fine. The motors are now incredibly silent, they're barely audible while you're in front of the printer, and you can't hear them at all from 10 feet away. I have my printer inside my walk-in closet in my bedroom, and I print at night often, so this is a huge upgrade for me. This does nothing to address the fan noise, but the fans produce a constant drone so they're not annoying. I can totally run the printer with the closet door open and not mind the noise. Since these are high quality Trinamic drivers, there's no need to get TL smoothers for the printer, so if you don't have them already, you should see a slight improvement to print quality in some prints. Another nice benefit is that this board has thermal-runaway protection, so if the heater cartridge becomes dislodged, or the thermistor fails, your printer won't catch fire. Overall I totally recommend this.

Great Upgrade for an Older Printer
I purchased this to upgrade an original Ender-3 to a system board that could support Creality's Sonic Pad. The first board that was delivered had an issue that prevented the Z-axis stepper motor from working correctly. Amazon quickly replaced it and the new board works perfectly. It's almost an exact plug-for-plug replacement for the older Creality board so installation is a breeze. The stepper motors are now silent when printing. I flashed it to Klipper (as an Ender-3 V2) using the Sonic Pad's built in setup software. With this board and the Sonic Pad my old Ender-3 is easily exceeding 100mm/sec print rates with great results. If you want a quieter printer, this will do it for you. If you have an older Ender-3 and want to use a Sonic Pad, this is a must.

PRETTY GOOD OVERALL
Now to be Honest this is my second attempt!. Put simply My Ender 3 MAX started acting funny like it didn't want to Center right. And then finally it "WOULDN'T' ah run at all, Plus Id just had it a bit over a year OK????? Now I ordered a New mother board from Creality via Amazon!. As usual I got that board real quick so thanks to Creality and Amazon as their shipping is tops..... But try as I might 'their board' just wouldnt work, Wouldn't fix my machine. Now I thought about this a LOT and I saw by scanning both the Web and Amazon that Sovol had these Mother Boards and Sovol definitely has a reputation for quality so I ordered one.!..... I gritted My Teeth but I went thru the install program again!. Well to keep this short the Sovol board worked. Granted it wasn't a painless procedure but it got my Printer back up and running again!..... Thank You Amazon, And Thank You Sovol!!!!!!!!!!! There were a couple of Minor faults I had to correct first OK , But the Sovol Board got me up and running. Basically I didnt really see any difference in looking at the boards, But I seemed to note an inspectors mark on the Sovol board I 'didnt' see on the first board, So mebbe I got a bad one and yes its been known to happen!. ANYHOW: Basic Installation went smooth but this is something you dont 'blitz' through OK so take your time and do it right the 1st time period!,. THE HASSLE: Now some it seems or 'a few' got their Machines up and running the first time. Now to be honest 'THAT' didn't happen to me, And I never flashed a board before in my life tho I downloaded a few files in My Time, And Ive done a bit of Codeing tho that didn't help me much on this one? IT GOT STRAIGHTENED OUT! Put simply I went to Crealivity Download site and downloaded the main program for my printer an Ender 3Max and installed the .bin file on a mini flashcard. Then I slid the Card into the Port on the Ender and turned on the machine and it installed perfectly!. So once again I now had a Printer that runs and works like its supposed to!. BEST FOR LAST: Basically I just bought the Motherboard to get my Ender running again which it surely did! Granted I tried some of the YouTube Gurus ideas which taught me a bit more about the machine and 3D Printing then i knew before but it didnt get the Printer going. It Was SOVOLS Card that got my machine going Period!!!!!!!!!! PERKS, Or what I got in return!... Printer is super quiet. Printer runs smoother!. Printer is faster now an actually quite a bit!. Sample or Test Workpiece came out pretty good, Pretty Neat even tho i used Cheap Plastic. Printer both Hot Head and Bed heat up quite a bit faster then before, So that and the quicker work time are very good improvements and well worth the Cost even tho i hadda buy 2 Boards to get it working!!! TO CLOSE: I'm a Happy Camper now, Even tho it took quite a bit of effort an time to get everything going again!. I have 'Mixed Feelings" about this episode as the improvements are clearly worth the Price!. But I must point out its not quite as easy, Or seamless as some have remarked, As yes you can get a better running printer at a fairly low cost, But you will 'work' for the privilege!. To be fair I gave 4 Stars as it did work out for me and that was fair. But the Card 'Alone' didnt repair or get my Printer running again as others were more Lucky and got their Machines running out of the Box tho I wasn't as fortunate but its running again and that's what counts!. So I recommend Sovol products and Amazons goods to any and all out there as its good stuff and they deliver!. P.P.S: Even to this day Im not completely sure what went 'Originally Wrong' with my Printer. As the day before I had downloaded a 'Non Factory' program to automatically center and or level the Bed. "Now That Was a Bad Mistake And Most Likely It Cost Me Period!." Since that time i have read in reviews where others have installed Non Factory, Or Non Standard Code or programming and then "Suddenly" they are having problems, Or their Printers are acting up!. So DONT install any thing that the Firm or Maker dont stand behind as it CAN cost you!. But that aside If you need a Motherboard, Or need some parts clearly Sovol makes some good ones!. And Amazon Delivers!..... Nuff Said: IndianaED.....

First upgrade anyone should do! After years of my Ender 3 screaming.. now.. SILENCE! :D MUST BUY!!!
I have had my original Ender 3 for years now. Done a few mods and upgrades over the years. I always heard that most of the noise came from the controller board NOT the motors but just didn't really believe it I guess. Well after installing this I can say is its all true! This board essentially silenced my Ender 3! Unbelievable difference really. You now hear just the fans moving basically. You'll also hear the carriage moving with a low vibration/rumble from time to time. Those sounds were always there its just now with the silent board you can hear them now :) A must buy especially for older printers. Silenced AND updated firmware with the ability to update. Something my original 8 bit board couldn't do (without a lot of work anyway) Win, win... Win! ... Upgrade to silence, upgrade from old slow 8 bit, upgrade to new firmware!! I got these on "used/open box" and am happy. The first one shipped to me was toasted. Whoever had that board first fried it. Returned it and rolled the dice again, ordering another used/open box board. This time the "used" board looked good so I installed it. Easy to install. Just go slow and one connection at a time. Worth the money (even at full price) to upgrade your original old Ender 3s!!

the item is not as advertised it seems. It does not have a flashed bootloader.
and the bootloader flashing tools online are for the 8 bit systems. To get around this you could attempt to install the Creality CR-10(S) – Mini/S4/S5 Firmware | V4.2.7 Board but this does not seem to be correct at all and is likely to cause a number of issues. There is no argument, there is a chip that can be used as a bootloader on this system that has not been flashed to run as one. additionally, my board is not the same as in the image, there are clearly slight changes made to the PCB, it is the same board by their standards I guess, however in the images to what I received you would see slight changes. I can't utilize the 32 bit performance if I have to use the v1 unified receiver in order to flash this thing to take updates as doing so would only allow the use of 8bit firmware updates...I have looked into this non stop and really it is just not working out at all, using platform IO or arduino, with or without a bl touch device, using direct SPI over usb, using a arduino uno, attempting to use about 20 different SD cards of different sizes and rating all properly formated and single particians with nothing other than the needed bin files, using many names for the bin files.... I can compile the appropriate bin it is not that, even the official firmware updates from their site don't do anything, I tried literally every option for the ender 3 pro. I even tried out the 4.2.2 ones after a bunch of attempts. I am sure there is a really dumb trick you could use to get this to work properly with a 32 bit firmware update, but after 3 days of this all day every day I just don't think it is worth anyone going through that at all. Simply put, don't buy this. If you are thinking about buying this, idk if this was a quality control issue with this vendor, but seeing as there are clearly design changes present in my board I would argue that there may be reason to suspect that the good reviews were authentic original boards with the original layout of components and what is being released now may not be....

Great board for Ender 3, and other projects.
I have purchased two of these boards so far. The first was an Ender 3 upgrade (v1.1.4 to 4.2.7). The second was modifying a laser engraver to use a custom Marlin firmware, and have a LCD display. The normal upgrade, what most of you will do, is very straight forward. Remove the old one, put in the new one, and plug all the things back in where they came from. The 4.2.7 is definitely quieter. Since the upgrade on the Ender 3, the only noise source is from the fans. There is only one little quirk. There are two fan ports (K-FAN1 and K-FAN2). It is implied that those two fans would be controlled separately. They aren't. You have one control that does both of them. That's because of the hardware, there's nothing to fix in software to change it. The 4.2.7 adds ports for the BLTouch and a filament runout sensor! Two of the most important upgrades that you'll do to your machine. If you are using this to control something else, like the laser engraver, there are some improvements. You have proper PWM on several ports. Some are cleaner than others, so you'll want to check them with your oscilloscope (DSO-138 works fine). I used PA1 (hotend heat) and PB0 (BLTouch IN pin) for the laser enable(power) and PWM, respectively. I have heard about people using these boards for totally unrelated projects, treated as just another microcontroller (STM32F103RCT6) coded via the Arduino IDE or PlatformIO. Having 4 stepper drivers and a number of MOSFET controlled high current ports, and low voltage ports, has lots of options for controlling other projects. It save you a lot of electrical design work for little robots or other projects.

A deserved upgrade for my original Ender 3
If you have a Creality Ender 3 still with its original board, the Sovol Ender 3 New Upgrade Motherboard Silent Mainboard V4.2.7 is a must-have. My Ender 3 was always super noisy when printing. With this board, the printer now is dead silent and you can basically hear the fans only. I am a happy owner of a Sovol SV-01 as well and I trust the quality of the products sold by them. This board is no exception - of course, it is a Creality board but it comes already ready to run with a new-ish firmware with thermal runaway protection enabled and other perks. I've ended up upgrading it regardless to make better use of my BLTouch and doing that was a breeze. You just have to copy the firmware BIN file to the sd card root, put it in and start the machine. The board is a direct replacement for the 8-bit board, with all the connectors laid out in the same position, so just make sure to take some pictures of the old 8bit board before disassembling it. The process would take just a few minutes.
