Living Things

Not my favourite album of all time but this album was a game changer. Hits like Burn it Down and Castle of Glass showed that Linkin Park could do anything and other under-appreciated songs like Roads Untraveled, Powerless and I'll be Gone proved that Linkin Park has a lot of juice left in them to make songs that everybody could relate to and enjoy. 5/5. A must buy for a Linkin Park and a music lover in general.

Master piece by Linkin Park. I was waiting for this album to drop on Amazon in an affordable price. Finally got it from the paper palette. They didn't disappoint me this time with their packing. I love this album. Thank you Chester. And we miss you

Just from listening to the album I could immediately tell that there would be mixed reviews. The fact of the matter is that in Linkin Park's transitions through different sounds they've managed to pick up fans and enthusiasts from varying musical preferences. While this journey has been unsettling for many of us at times, I can't say that it hasn't been successful for them. Music is an art and they've proven themselves to be very successful artists despite what any of us individually feel about each chapter of their development. That said, I've been one of those original fans in the nu metal camp that has greatly missed the good ol' days of wistful screaming and epic power chords. At least that's what I thought. I had admittedly latched onto the old sounds and themes of Linkin Park with stagnant nostalgia as well, forgetting all the while that I too have grown up quite a bit sense then. So now that you understand where I'm coming from I will say that I'm quite impressed with Living Things. It's not for everyone. It's not for the Linkin Park fan that I used to be back in my emotionally turbulent high school days. It's for the Linkin Park fan that I am now. I see no sense in individually reviewing each musical offering on this album. You can hear clips of the tracks for yourself and many other reviewers have already covered just about every perspective available. If you haven't already decided to buy or not buy the album, you were probably never really interested in Linkin Park anyway. I simply want to ask those of you that do not personally appreciate this next step in LP's evolution to at least be fair. You don't have to like it, but if you call yourself a Linkin Park fan at all, at the very least respect it. From my understanding of Linkin Park's roots and the contributions of each member of the band throughout their history this is clearly an earnest musical exploration and expression of their creative minds. I hear so much of each individual in this music reminding me that, though their size of 6 has been scoffed at by some, each member in this band continues to play a significant role in making Linkin Park what it is. These men are now seasoned musicians, husbands, fathers, older and wiser. This isn't music for the masses. Linkin Park has already made their success and their money. They made this album for themselves. Keep this in mind as you listen to the melodies, rhythms and lyrics and perhaps different concepts and emotions will unfold for you.

En seulement 2 ans, Linkin Park revient avec une petite perle : Living Things. Il m'avait fallu plusieurs écoutes pour vraiment apprécier A Thousand Suns qui, au final, est un très bon album s'il est compris. J'espérais toutefois que le virage pris par le groupe (éléctro) ne serait pas trop important. Et non, il n'est pas trop important. Il est très justement dosé, et les guitares sont plus présentes. Certaines chansons sont des perles ("Lost In the Echo", "I'll Be Gone", "Castle of Glass" et "Roads Untraveled" pour ne pas toutes les citer). Mike est très présent, au chant comme au rap (du rap de haute qualité d'ailleurs, notamment sur "Lost In the Echo"). La voix bien saturée de Chester est là aussi, surtout sur "Victimized", "Lies Greed Misery", mais aussi sur "Lost In the Echo" (elle revient souvent celle-la... ça ferait un bon single). Bref, une petite description piste par piste de l'album : 01 - Lost In the Echo - 3'25 Linkin Park ne s'est pas trompé de titre pour ouvrir l'album. L'introduction électro de Lost In the Echo est superbe... vraiment bien foutue. Puis Mike rappe, du très bon rap. Ensuite, Chester chante... c'est magnifique. Une de leurs meilleures chansons, avec en plus Chester qui crie sur la fin. Par ailleurs, un clip vidéo a été réalisé pour Lost In the Echo, avec une interactivité via Facebook. Le clip est sympa, mais pour ce qui est de FB... Bof, sans plus. Voyons la suite. 02 - In My Remains - 3'20 Encore une belle introduction, un son puissant, pas de rap ici, juste les voix de Chester et de Mike qui s'allient très bien... comme toujours. Avec un passage plus calme vers le milieu de la chanson, assez émouvant. 03 - Burn It Down - 3'50 Bon titre et 1er single de l'album, Burn It Down est un des titres les plus accessibles de l'album, taillé pour la radio. Il n'en reste pas moins excellent, et le clip est bien sympathique. 04 - Lies Greed Misery - 2'27 Titre très électro, Mike rappe, puis Chester crie. J'aime beaucoup, et le "You did it to yourself" rappellera à certains "You try to take the best of me, go away" sur A Place for My Head ou encore "Shut up (when I'm talking to you)" sur One Step Closer. Sinon, pas grand chose à dire sur ce titre. 05 - I'll Be Gone - 3'30 L'intro est très belle, et la voix de Chester sur I'll Be Gone est sublime, intense... et les guitares sont bien plus présentes ! Là ils se lâchent, et ça fait du bien, pour un très bon titre. Par ailleurs, ce titre me fait légèrement penser à New Divide. 06 - Castle of Glass - 3'25 Alors là... c'est simple, pour moi, c'est une des plus belles ballades de Linkin Park. Elle rappelle un peu le style de Minutes to Midnight. Mike chante avec une voix très pure tout au long de la chanson, surtout avec le passage "'cause I'm only a crack in this castle of glass" répété plusieurs fois. 07 - Victimized - 1'46 La plus brutale de l'album, Mike chante, puis Chester hurle, le rythme est saccadé, Mike rappe... Très courte (peut-être trop), très efficace, très réussie. 08 - Roads Untraveled - 3'49 Pour ce qui est de Roads Untravelled, c'est simple aussi, c'est une autre des plus belles ballades (selon moi également) du groupe. C'est juste magnifique quand Mike chante "It's the worst kind of pain I've known". Sur la fin, la chanson part d'un coup, plus énergique, plus puissante, un peu comme sur "Valentine's Day" (Minutes to Midnight). 09 - Skin To Bone - 2'48 Pour "Skin To Bone", ne sais pas trop quoi dire... Titre très électro, Mike et Chester chantent ensemble. C'est un assez bon titre, qui mérite sa place sur l'album. Il me fait un peu penser à I'll Be Gone. 10 - Until It Breaks - 3'43 Morceau inclassable, plusieurs styles sont présents sur Until It Breaks. Morceau rap, sauf quand Chester chante sur un fond de piano... et Brad chante ! Il chante bien. Peut-être que ce sera Mr. Hann ou Phoenix sur le prochain album. On les a déjà entendu chanter en choeur sur Robot Boy (A.T.S), mais pas seuls. 11 - Tinfoil - 1'11 Seul piste instrumentale, Tinfoil est, dans l'esprit, comme Session sur Meteora, avant dernière piste. Le style rappelle un peu A.T.S. Reposante et calme, elle enchaîne directement avec Powerless, qui l'est également. 12 - Powerless - 3'44 Dernière chanson de Living Things. Les choeurs sont présents, le rythme est plus lent... Powerless clôt l'album en toute beauté. Et donc voilà, déjà finit. Ca passe vite 37 minutes, et quand en plus c'est Linkin Park (en forme qui plus est). Bref, déçu ou pas par A.T.S, Living Things devrait plaire à beaucoup : assez électro sans être trop expérimental, guitares plus présentes sans être trop saturées, Chester crie, chante, Mike chante, rappe... l'album est assez mélodique, les ballades sont d'excellente facture, le rap de haut niveau, les hurlements modérés et les paroles, profondes, sont très émotionnelles. L'ancien et le nouveau se mélangent, et ça donne Living Things, sûrement un de leurs meilleurs albums.

Quiero aclarar que no se confundan, es totalmente original, solo que en la versión Vinyl la portada es diferente que al CD, me llegó muy rápido y sin defecto algúno, muy bueno para colección y audio increíble y únicos en vinyl
