amazing stuff for sore joints, aching muscles n arthritis
i'd tried alot of products, nothing seem to work so i resorted to using ice packs and thought to give this stuff a try and im glad i did. it dont burn , it tingles a little and warms slightly and it does the job. if i want it hotter, i rub it on like usual and use hair dryer about 6-8 inches above it n let the heat of hair dryer pentrate this stuff deeper and warmer. i really enjoying this. i thought i would need the hotter stuff but im glad i went with this medium instead. the atomic balm, its not to greasy and smell is good also. i also let my dad use it on his arthritis shoulders, they give him major problems with being stiff, throbbing pain, n can't barely move his arms or etc. so he tried this stuff. a simple rub in and he said he liked it better than any other ointments he'd ever used. i'll be buying this from now on. very very good stuff. you wont regret it.

took a long time to find, but worth the search
In high school in the late 80's I was a varsity football player. We used to slather this stuff on ourselves before games to warm up and keep from being sore after games and hard practice. The only thing that's changed is its no longer in a gallon jug, but everything else is the same. It takes a while to warm up, but once it does, it really warms up. If you are applying it, be sure to use a disposable glove as you don't want to make a mistake and touch any sensitive part of your body after like eyes or face, because you will definitely regret it. This stuff is great for a pre warm up heat or an after exercise pain relief balm. Gives a nice, deep heat for about an hour or so after it starts to heat up.

As a counterirritant it rates excellent; therefore use sparingly initially
This product excels at counterirritation, which is what it is intended to do. If you’re going to use a counterirritant for muscle pain, I recommend researching what that means, so that expectations are better met. (Hint: a counterirritant literally adds more pain and irritation, but with a tactical purpose). I Highly recommend starting with a very small amount and waiting several minutes for the burning effects before deciding if more is needed, because my experience with using a little too much on my knee is very red skin and unpleasant burning sensation. I believe that a child or highly sensitive person would find the burning pain to be excruciating. I’m skeptical that the product really warms up muscles as one might need to do before exercise, because of the mechanism by which it works, but people seem to swear by it and the sensation of warmer muscles is undeniable. I started writing this review after an application on my knee began to burn quite unpleasantly, and it continues to burn. I mention as a point of emphasis for trying a small amount before using. But significantly, in that time, I’ve not noticed the underlying pain for which I used the product. That’s the sign of successful counterirritation! I shudder to think how bad this would feel if used on an especially sensitive area of the body.

Huh?
Ok.... Ive officially had this balm for almost 2 days now and have used it about 4 times now. I'm not sure if I got the same product the reviews are writing about? Did I get a defective balm?? I don't understand ..... All the reviews have in common is how "hot" the balm gets on your skin while it's doing its magic with the muscles except I have not experienced anything near that? I have massaged this balm into the sore muscle for 5-10 minutes, really giving it as much of a fighting chance but I don't feel ANYTHING. Sometimes hours after I applied the balm, I'll feel a slight tingly sensation but that's it.... No warming and most certainly no "hot" feeling.. the balms consistency is just like Vaseline so it can be a pain to wash off if you're washing it off within 30 mins or an hour of applying. For me, I have applied it before bed after my night time shower and by the time Im up in the morning to wash it off, there's basically nothing there texture wise so honestly I can get away with not washing it off but I have found the minty scent to linger so that's why I even wash it off in the first place. I have found foaming hand soap to not clean this off my hands. Soap bars or gel hand soap will be your best bet to wash it off your hands after you're done applying. Overall, I don't get the hype of this product and I'm sad because I wanted something reallyyyy strong to do its magic on my sore muscles before and after my runs but unfortunately this is not it for me.
