I need a 2nd slice and I need it right NOW!
Ohhh myyy goshhh, this is such a holiday surprise (to me...er, for me) Let me come clean in the opening statement that I have been on a Keto Diet for the last 2 months and I expect to continue the Keto Lifestyle for the rest of my life............................except for this week. Because this fruit cake is "THE BEST FRUIT CAKE IN THE WORLD"! Holy smokes, the cardboard box had a wonderful image of the Corsicana bakery in Texas and the artistic masterpiece of a tin is such a treat that I will never throw it away....how could you as it's truly a beautiful piece of Americana. The fruit cake is amoungst a set of cakes that vary from pineapple & pecans to a mega-pecan monster. Pecan pies are also their speciality. I knew none of this before. The cake had pecans and candied cherries on top and a perfect mix of medium brown colored cake with holiday sugar sweetness bombs. Have it with tea, have it with coffee, have it with champagne...but JUST HAVE IT. Do not fret, do not check who's naughty or nice, do not wait a minute more...it ships on Amazon THANK GOD! IT'S A MIRACLE!! Buy it yesterday! Oh, and I will have to freeze half so that I may return to the Keto Lifestyle. But today....I need a 2nd piece...and I need it RIGHT NOW! UPDATE: ...couldn't wait. EATING my 2nd slice right now. Is your mouth watering yet? UPDATE #2: Waited a week, then ventured into my freezer where I had buried a golden treasure that would have forced Queen Isabella to built more ships to bring this Texas delight back to the mother country. And I had the foresight to have presliced the cake before sealing in a large vacuum bag. I am reminded of a flight back-in-the-day when there were "direct plane flights"....terms get bantied about and get smushed into mush...those are the flights which stop midway somewhere but you didn't get off the jet if you were continuing on. Only 4 of us were waiting...but the flight attendants were huddled about a 1st class passenger and giggling. I walked up and discovered thst he was "the voice of Tony The Tiger"! Mr. Ravenscroft told us he was going to Orlando to be honored by Kellogg's for X years of support for "Frosted Flakes"...as he had touched generations and repeat generations with his voice. Well, he also was the voice for the Christmas song "Mr. Grinch". Think about it...yeah, that voice from the song you are singing is the same voice as Tony The Tiger. Well, don't you be a Mr. Grinch this Christmas, and wish all of your friends a very Merry Christmas...or bettet yet surprise them. Wouldn't this be a super duper incredible surprise...you'd be the gathering's "star". There's 4 photos but you have to click to see the 4th..and BEST ONE! Isn't your mouth salivating like Pavlov's dog whenever you look at the 4th photo...that slice with coffee is sheer bliss. So, don't be a Mr. Grinch ...buy it. Buy it right now! You will thank me! 😎

It will change every notion you ever had about fruitcake because
Best fruitcake EVER , and I've never liked fruitcake! The Texas pecans were scrumptious, it's very healthy, but luscious, if you love carrot cake this is many times BETTER than your favorite carrot cake, without needing cream cheese frosting (that might great on this fruitcake...). The cherries from Washington State, very delicious in this. This wonderful historical fruitcake is a must try it at least once in your life, I'm so glad I did, it kept for days w/o a refrigerator, was still moist, (I was travelling) had to part w/the last little bit. If you like nut bread, you'll enjoy this, it has wonderful golden raisins in it, it will give you and yours a completely new knowledge of what fruitcake really is and always should be! Who knew!!! You can eat a slice of this 3x each day for 5 days (skip bread) have a mug of milk w/it, your favorite tea, or coffee or juice, it is splendid what a treat, is just marvelous, and truly delightful! Then you have this lovely little historic, collectible, useful nostalgic tin that it arrived in...I have enjoyed repurposing mine. This wonderful part of AMERICAN MADE /TEXAS TRADITION is worth EVERY penny spent on it, the enjoyment was multiplied. Think on Jesus and all He taught about the Fruits of the Holy Spirit of God, get one of these to share w/those you are led to share God's blessings with, because this is ONE of God's MANY BLESSINGS, or for yourself because God sends His blessings upon all, He sent Jesus Most of all, to get one of these cakes to CELEBRATE Jesus Birth and Resurrection, and thank Him, He looks forward to sharing with us ALWAYS!!!

Nice gift
If you like fruitcake, then this is the ones to buy. I gave it to my sister for Christmas. She said fresh and delicious too. For those that are confused by the name fruitCAKE, there is very little cake. Only enough to bind it together. Momma used to make it every Christmas. Special memories!!!

Forgive me father (in-law) for I have sinned.
I ordered this fruit cake for my father-in-law who is in assisted living. When the fruitcake arrived at my house, I removed the tin box from the cardboard shipping container so that I could gift wrap it for Christmas for him. Moments before I placed the fruitcake on my counter for wrapping, I thought it would be a good idea to examine the contents of the container, and I removed the cover to look at the cake. As I stood there, looking down at this wonderful specimen laying helplessly before me, I succumbed to the incredible and succulent aroma that came upon me and in which became mingled with my olfactory receptors. Sadly, in a moment of weakness, I found my hands grasping for a knife in which to slice through the cake in order to take a small "test" sample. My weakness grew as did my hunger and to make a long story short, I very selfishly devoured the cake as the glutton I turned into and I will seek forgiveness from the Pope and beg for leniency as I hurriedly order a new cake to have shipped directly to my father-in-law whom I know will be filled with glee as I was, in sampling this incredible baked item that was such a joy to consume. Say what you will or might want to say about fruitcakes, but this one was wickedly wonderful and those folks down in Corsicana, Texas make some mighty bodacious and fabulous fruitcakes. I have never-ever tasted one that was even this close to totally wonderful. (Maybe I died and went to Heaven and I don't need to contact the Pope?) (UPDATE, 1-2-2015... I FELT SO BAD FOR MY FATHER-IN-LAW - HAVING DEVOURED THE ABOVE MENTI0NED FRUIT CAKE, THAT ON CHRISTMAS EVE AS I WAS VISITING HIM IN HIS APARTMENT IN THE ASSISTED LIVING CENTER I USED THE AMAZON AP ON MY IPHONE AND ORDERED A SECOND FRUIT CAKE AND HAD IT SENT DIRECTLY TO HIM, INSTEAD OF BEING DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE. WE JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH HIM AND HIS FRUITCAKE ARRIVED EARLIER IN THE DAY, AND HE IS IN "HOG-HEAVEN" AS WE SAY HERE IN TEXAS...)

Where's the dang cake!!
Quite frankly, I thought I was ordering a fruitCAKE, not a fruit & nut log. I love pecans and walnuts. I really like the candied fruit in a fruitcake. However, I prefer to eat nuts one or two at a time, not by the mouthful. This "cake" is about 65% nuts, 35% candied fruit and, at best, 10% cake. There is so little cake in the dang thing that it doesn't bind. When I try to cut a slice, it crumbles into pieces before I can get it on a plate. There's so little cake that the oils and moisture from the fruit and nuts turn what cake there is in it into a greasy sludge. It's hard to tell, really, if it even is cake, cuz there's not enough of it in any mass to be able to tell what it is. Look, in all honesty, it tastes ok. I mean the nuts taste good, the fruit tastes good, and if you don't think of the greasy mass as cake, the flavor there isn't bad either. But this AIN'T a cake, and that's what I was expecting to receive. So if ya love a lotta nuts, candied fruit and a lil' bit 'a "cake"(I'm being kind on that one), then this is the item for you.

We tested 3 different fruitcakes so you don't have to...
My family had a fruitcake face-off this year between the Walkers Glenfiddich whisky cake, the Collin Street Bakery Deluxe fruitcake, and the Grandma’s Famous Old-Fashioned fruitcake. You will see this review under each fruitcake tested, so you can move on if you’ve seen it elsewhere. The five of us ranged in age from 17 to 85 and we rated each one on appearance, aroma, texture, moistness, and flavor. 3 out of the 5 of us regularly eat fruitcake during the holidays, and the other two have had it before. All fruitcakes were served at room temperature. We scored them independently and discussed the results afterwards. Long story short – we each ranked the Grandma’s first, the Collins St second, and the Walkers third. Now, the rest of the story… The Grandma’s was the clear winner. It had the best flavor and aroma. It tied with the Collins on appearance. The Grandma’s was a tradeoff between moistness and texture – it tended to crumble more than the other two but scored the highest on moistness. The Grandma’s had the strongest whisky notes of the three tested. All enjoyed the Grandma’s. We rank it 5 stars. The Collins was second. It had a similar aroma to the Grandma’s and tied on appearance. It held together better than the Grandma’s but was a bit dryer in texture and on the palate. It had the strongest citrus notes of the three. 2 out of the 5 of us thought it was good, 1 thought it was okay, and 2 didn’t like it. We give it 3 stars. The Walkers was a distant third. It scored the lowest in all categories. It looked and tasted dry. It had a dry, waxy aroma and texture. It had some holiday spice notes – cinnamon and clove – but none of us enjoyed it. Those of us who are scotch drinkers agreed that Glenfiddich should stick to making that and steer clear of making fruitcakes. We give it 1 star. So the 5 of us recommend the Grandma’s, 3 of us think the Collins is good to try if Grandma’s isn’t available, and none of us recommend the Walkers. Enjoy the holidays and happy eating!

Gourmandise en or
Hum!!

Best Christmas cake ever.
Super Christmas cake. It's a joy to eat. Full of nuts and fruit. Not the normal dark heavy cake.. It's a treat we look forward to each year. It is an expensive cake but it's only once let year.

Una estafa, muy pequeño, corriente, mal sabor, viejo. No lo recomiendo. Nada que ver con un buen fruit cake.

Oh my disappearing waistline!
You just can't better this cake. Next year I shall order earlier and get it for Christmas. No-one could fault this cake, it is absolutely delicious. It also doesn't last long. It is moist and really yummy. One little niggle though. On Amazon site it said could be delivered by Christmas even though it comes from the States. It takes the usual 3-4 weeks to arrive from US - still it is worth waiting for. Just make sure that you order early if you want it for Christmas.
