The next generation of robot vaccums/moppers take a giant leap forward
Wow, what a difference a few years can make! I purchased the Shinebot in early 2022, at a time when robot moppers were still in their infancy. I was willing to put up with the streaks, the mess of cleaning them up, and their finnicky operation ("Please check the universal wheel," the Shinbot would bark at me incessantly) because I loved the idea of someone doing the mopping for me. It's remarkable that, even in 2025, I had nursed the Shinebot along and it was still mopping on occasion, although I had increasingly relied on hand mopping because "Sloppy" (our affectionate nickname for it) just didn't do a good job of mopping. When I read about the new generation of dual vacuuming/moppng robots, I grew excited. Reviews were saying that these machines actually did a great job of mopping, even getting into corners. Could this really be true? Well folks, I'm here to tell you that "yes, it is true--believe it!" There are three key advantages of the Narwal over my old Shinebot: 1. Easy upkeep. The Shinebot docks to its station periodically to clean itself (you read that right!), rinsing the mops with hot water that is promptly sucked into a dirty water bin and refreshing its clean water tank from the station's large refillable bin. It even uses hot air to deep clean and dry its mop at night! So far, all I've had to do is empty the dirty water bin and fill the clean water/cleaning solution bin every week or two. Can this be real? 2. Mopping & vacuuming that rival that of a conscientous human. My partner is deeply skeptical or robots of any kind, but when she saw the results and admitted that "it may do a better job than I could," I knew we were on to something. Unlike Shinebot, Narwal does not leave streaks--only an immaculate floor that one might consider eating off of. This is due in part to the fact that it cleans with113 degree F water, which cuts through grease. It is also capable of sensing dirt and scrubbing it, using downward pressure and a rapid spin rate to remove spots. While it can't clean every stubborn spot or get into every nook and cranny, it does a great job, especially if you're willing to pick up everything that might impede it. 3. Lidar mapping leads to precise cleaning, even on a schedule. Narwal will map out your home as its first mission. You'll see the map being drawn as it moves around your house. After naming the rooms and making any necessary corrections, you can command Narwal to clean any room or group of rooms at any time. For those who want Narwal to do the work regularly, you can set up a cleaning schedule, perhaps commanding Narwal to clean at night so it doesn't disrupt your daytime activities. This goes well beyond Shinebot; I love it! 4. Oh yeah, it vaccums too. Narwal is capable of vacuuming "just in time" as it mops, or you can tell it to got out on separate vaccuming and mopping missions if you want a deeper clean. The vacuuming is great; it has a HEPA filter and empties its dustbin into the docking station using powerful suction. You only need to change the station's vacuum bag periodcially. Overall, for me, this robot is worth every penny. It has improved the quality of my life.

A Powerhouse with a Few Software Quirks
tl;dr: If you are in the market for a high-end robot vacuum, buy the Narwal Flow. It’s a fantastic cleaner and you won't regret the purchase. First Impressions: Up and Running in Minutes The Narwal Flow is incredible right out of the box. I was able to get the unit fully set up in about 10 minutes. The process is simple: unbox it, fill the water and detergent tanks, download the app, and hit "Clean." It immediately scans your home, figures out which rooms have carpet vs. hard floors, and gets to work. While the cleaning performance is top-tier, there are two specific quirks I found—and easy ways to fix them yourself. Helpful Tips for New Owners 1. Handling Dark Carpets Near Stairs If you have dark or black rugs near a staircase, the robot’s sensors might get confused. It thinks the dark color is a "cliff" (a drop-off) and will refuse to vacuum that area because it's afraid of falling. The Fix: Go into the app and disable Stair Detection, then simply draw a "No-Go Zone" on the map around your stairs. This lets the robot clean your dark rugs safely without any hesitation. 2. Keeping the Suction Strong After about a week, I noticed the vacuum wasn't picking up as much as it did on day one. I realized the "Smart" setting for emptying the dustbin wasn't doing it often enough, causing the internal bin to get a bit too full. The Fix: Change the Auto Dust Collection setting from "Smart" to "Always." It takes a few extra seconds for the robot to empty itself more frequently, but it ensures the suction stays powerful every single time it cleans. My Only Real Complaint The Narwal Flow does a beautiful job, but you still have to manually dump the dirty water and refill the clean tank. That chore gets old pretty quickly! I know Narwal sells an Auto Refill & Drainage kit for some of their other models that hooks directly into your home's plumbing. I really wish they offered a conversion kit like that for the Flow. At the very least, having a dedicated slot for auto-dispensing soap (instead of mixing it manually) would have been a nice touch to make it feel more "hands-off." Final Verdict The Narwal Flow isn't perfect, but it vacuums and mops incredibly well with very little maintenance. The best part is that almost all my issues are on the software side. Narwal updates the app and the vacuum regularly, so I’m hopeful these small sensor and emptying quirks will be fixed in a future update. Even as it is now, I'm very happy with this purchase.

I’ve been using the Narwal for a bit now and it’s honestly really cool how much it can do on its own. The mapping is super accurate, and you can tell it actually knows where it’s going instead of just driving around randomly. It cleans in straight lines, covers the whole floor, and doesn’t miss spots, which makes the floors look way cleaner every time. The suction is strong and it handles pet hair really well, especially along walls and edges where hair usually builds up. It switches between hardwood, tile, and carpet without any issues and adjusts easily. It’s also quieter than I expected for how powerful it is, so it’s not annoying to have running in the background. The app makes everything simple. You can start a clean, schedule it, or choose specific areas without it being confusing. Maintenance is easy too. Emptying the bin and cleaning the parts only takes a minute, so it doesn’t feel like extra work. Overall, it feels really advanced but also easy to use. You don’t have to think about cleaning as much because it just does its job. It’s been super helpful for keeping the house clean, especially with pets, and it actually feels worth it.

This robot is simply excellent. From the very first use, it creates a highly accurate floor map, which then allows for a wide range of customization options: choosing the order of rooms, setting no-go zones, cleaning or avoiding carpets, adjusting suction power, cleaning intensity, and water flow for mopping. It detects stairs perfectly, moves intelligently, and does a surprisingly good job cleaning under tables and around chair legs, without missing any areas. The docking station is extremely convenient: it automatically washes the mop, refills with clean water, and empties dirty water with no manual intervention. The app lets you track the cleaning in real time on the map, and it’s clear that no part of the floor is overlooked. A purchase I absolutely don’t regret. Efficient, autonomous, and very well designed. Highly recommended.

The Narwal Flow feels more like a silent helper that simply takes care of the floor then a gadget. This robot vacuum is an excellent option if you're feeling ill of those that promise to wipe down but actually just move a wet cloth. The Flow moves around the house with ease on every morning, carefully mapping rooms and staying away from obstacles without hitting into anything.Vacuuming is good for regular care, particularly for hard floors, but mopping is where it really pays off. It doesn't leave behind stains or that dirty "spread-around" feeling, gives actual pressure, and cleans itself automatically. The fact that it requires little care is one of its best features. You don't have to constantly wash pads or deal with odors because the self-cleaning and drying technology keeps the mop fresh and odor-free. With no learning curve, you can establish schedules, modify cleaning levels, and target particular rooms with this simple and easy-to-use app. It's not inexpensive, and you may not fully benefit if the majority of the carpet in your house is thick. However, the Narwal Flow feels worth the investment for houses with a lot of hard flooring, dogs, or just busy individuals who want clean floors without thinking about it. It is dependable, requires little work, and fulfills its promises, which is basically all you need.

I've had the Narwal Flow Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo for a couple of weeks now, and yeah, it's definitely top of the line for robot cleaners—it's over the top in a good way, even if it's not perfect. Setup and mapping went smoothly right out of the box. I installed the app, let it do its thing, and the LiDAR built a accurate map of the house on the first run without any major hiccups. Rooms got labeled decently, and tweaking no-go zones or virtual walls is straightforward—no constant fiddling required. The features are what make it feel premium: that 22,000 Pa suction handles dust, pet hair, and everyday debris really well. But the mopping stands out—the FlowWash system with the rolling track mop cleans itself in real time using water, a scraper, and hot water from the dock, so it actually scrubs without just spreading mess around. The self-emptying dock, mop washing, and drying mean I haven't had to do much hands-on work yet. Obstacle avoidance via the dual cameras is sharp—it spots and goes around cords, shoes, and random stuff reliably. I was pleasantly surprised it handles low-light or dark rooms without issues. The LiDAR navigates fine even when it's dim, and there's a small LED light that kicks in to help with spotting obstacles. I've run it in the evenings with the house lights off, and it doesn't bump into things or get confused like some other bots I've owned. The floors are noticeably cleaner after it runs—hard surfaces come out shinier from the mopping, and carpets look properly vacuumed. It's not completely flawless (edges sometimes still need a quick wipe, and it can get a little loud on max suction), but the performance is impressive and it's super low-maintenance. For a high-end combo that actually delivers on mopping without constant attention, this one's worth it. Solid 5 stars from me after these first couple weeks.

The NARWAL Flow has been a great addition to our home, especially for the mopping. The track-style mop with real-time self-cleaning leaves the floors looking freshly washed every time — easily one of the best mopping systems I’ve used. The vacuum is strong too, and it transitions well between hard floors and rugs. A couple of things to note: it does not vacuum my black snow-mat at all — it seems to treat it like a drop-off and avoids it completely. Also, the app feels delayed at times, both when loading maps and sending commands. Nothing major, but noticeable. Overall, the cleaning performance is excellent, especially if you have mainly hard floors. The automatic mop washing and drying makes maintenance really easy.
