Powerful 1/2 HP pump at a great price.
This is a powerful pump, I purchased this to use in my in ground swimming pool. I had a small pump before that attached to a garden hose. It took a lot of time to remove standing water in the bottom of the pool after using the pool pump to empty most of the water out. I had to fix some rough spots and cracks in the concrete. I decided to purchase a stronger pump to get the water out as I was using a hose to wet sand damaged areas in the pool. This pump comes with a 1.5 inch NPT adapter which allows you to hook up a garden hose to remove standing water. Even though the pump is very strong it is still restricted by the diameter of the garden hose. I decided to use my 1.5 inch hose that I use to clean the pool with, I purchased this item from amazon (Replacement for Hayward SPX1091Z7, SPX1091Z4 Adapters fits Pool Filter Pump Hose Adapter Fits 1 1/4"-1 1/2" Thread 1.5" Fitting Connector PVC 2 Pack) it threaded directly into the pump and now the water comes out in buckets! just thread the adapter fitting into the pump and attach the end of your1.5 inch pool cleaning hose onto the adapter. Even with my 5/8 inch hose running full blast into the pool the pump will empty all the water out. Pump works great and is made by a well known company. If I end up having to drain the pool again I will probably just use this pump instead of putting wear and tear on my expensive pool pump.

Drained pool (more like pond) with no issues! 5/12/24
This is my first review ever, but I felt the need to write one about this product. I thought I was going to need to spend way more price wise to drain the pool, but this pump got the job done with no issues. Our pool had literally turned into a pond with bullfrogs, oak pollen and leaves at the bottom. I used just a normal garden hose and purchased a 18 in. In-Line GFCI Cord for safety purposes. Other than that, you don’t need anything. It did stop draining three times. I don’t know exactly what fixed it, but I hooked up the hose to the water faucet and let it run in case the hose had become clogged. And I pulled the pump out the water and let it sit for a bit. But then once I hooked it back up, it worked fine. I tried to keep it as flat, upright as possible. Our pool has a steep decline, and it didn’t like not being flat that much. I also kept the power cord attached to the extension cord out of the water. Otherwise I would have just dropped to the bottom of the pool. I don’t think you can get more debris in a pool than what we had, and it still drained it fine. I 100% recommend this little guy!

Does the job and durability higher than most.
This product has been our go-to pump for years now. We used to buy our pumps from Tractor Supply, but they wouldn't last as long as these do. We used our pumps more often than average, being ranch owners and needing to pump out water from cattle tanks, flooded areas. etc. These pumps are capable of handling bigger than average debris with the 1 horsepower models. We recommend them for water removal for up to medium level water removal with some degree of sludge or debris. By this I mean removing water from water cisterns, emptying water and sludge from flooding while doing water pipe repair, removing water from flooded floors due to broken water pipes or excessive rain, etc. These pumps are meant for non-excessive water removal. For more than that, gas powered or higher horsepower electric models are needed.

always keep an eye on when using. pump broke in pool causing oil to leak into pool. great customer service and warranty. probably just a fluke. otherwise a great pump. highly effective.

Could not ask for a better result.
I was ultra skeptical about buying this pump back in Nov of 2023. I figured if we got 6 months out of it running a pond fountain 6 hours a day then we had done really well considering the price. The pond owner wanted to save some money and accepted the risk so I bought it. Today is Sep 19th 2025 and the pump is going strong with a higher flow than I would expect at this point. I do remeber having to buy some cheap pvc adapters to make it work with this particular fountain float and nozzels but that was expected and no big deal. Maintenance is pretty much nothing. I pull it out every season change to clean it with fresh water and then plop it back in the pond. This application is mostly for aesthetic purposes but it does help break the surface keeping films from forming and it helps with oxygenation although I would not rely on it solely for most applications. Anyway, great purchase!!!!

Very impressed - but like all pumps can't get last bit of water
This pump performed very well. I used it to drain a swimming pool that had been left untended for two years. After scooping out as much debris (e.g., twigs, branches, leaves) as possible , I let the pump do the rest. I know I wasn't able to get all the leaves out -- I couldn't even see them the water was so dirty. But the pump didn't skip a beat. Even at the very end of the job where the water was thick with dirt/decomposed organic material, it kept pumping it out. I wish it could have pulled every drop of water out of the pool, but I don't think any pump of this design can draw up water that close to the ground. I was very pleased -- would recommend and would buy again.

**1/5 Stars - Absolute Garbage - DO NOT BUY**
This is my FOURTH Superior Pump 91570 in 16 months. SIXTEEN MONTHS. Let that sink in for a minute. I should have learned after the first one died on me, but like an idiot, I thought maybe I just got unlucky. Then the second one crapped out. Still gave them the benefit of the doubt - maybe it was a bad batch? Nope. Third one lasted maybe 4 months before it started making sounds like a dying whale and then just... stopped. Now here I am, writing this review after pump #4 has joined its brothers in the trash heap. The pattern is always the same - works fine for a few months, then starts getting louder, vibrating more, and eventually just gives up entirely. The impeller housing cracks, the motor burns out, or some other critical component fails right when you need it most. The "3300 GPH" rating is clearly optimistic fantasy. These pumps might hit those numbers for the brief time they actually work, but what good is high flow rate when you're replacing the damn thing every 4 months? I'm done. Superior Pump fooled me three times with their promises of reliability and performance. Never again. My wallet has taken enough abuse. Save yourself the headache, the money, and the stress. Buy literally anything else.

Great little pump.
I had low expectations on this pump but it did extremely well draining my pool. I took the recommendation on one of the reviews to buy a larger hose for it because the garden hose was going to pop out slower. My pool is 17,000 gallons and it pumped the pool completely in less than 7 hours that's amazing. That local ducks were not happy at all LOL. It is very quiet and it works very well. I will put the link to the hose that works well with it. 1.5" x 50' Water Discharge Hose with NPT Pin Lug and Nipple Fittings, Heavy Duty Reinforced PVC Pool Backwash Hose, Connect To Pump and Pipe Threaded Outlet https://a.co/d/hUgQnt8

Great pump
We’ve been using this pump to empty our hot tub for cleaning and refill and has done a great jobs, but where I really commend it’s ability was recently when we had major flooding from snowmelt outside our home after a downspout broke, leaving a pond of water. We let this pump run overnight to move the water and it did a great job. My husband unfortunately moved it over rocks in the morning and has since died (RIP) but that was user error. This pump lasted over 12 hours running to solve the problem. Will be buying another!

Powerful pump
Ordered this pump because I have lived in my house 5 years and didn’t know how old my pump was. My neighbour’s basement had just flooded because his pump failed and I thought mine was possibly going to do the same. I got the 1/2 hp even though the old one was 1/4. Easy to install and the water just shoots out my drain pipe outside. Pump runs half as long too because it empties the sump hole faster. About as quiet as the old pump. I am using my old one as a back up. It’s been about 6 months now and no problems yet.

Works great
Sucks water out of river to water flowers. Works well but don’t use a sprinkler just let water flow through hose with no restrictions.
