Honest review after 7 nights from a side sleep with small ears and small ear canals.
Full disclosure - I have smaller ears and canals, and I am a side sleeper and I have been using these for the last 7 days. I am moving to a new town and decided to rent an apartment for a year to help me decide where to buy a house. Well, the apartment walls and floors are not well insulated. I hear footsteps, creaking floors, snoring through the wall, and sometimes can hear the tv shows they watch. Needless to say, I was having serious trouble sleeping. I could fall asleep pretty well (go to bed early), but I would be awakened at some point, or several points, in the night by all these noises, banging, walking, creaking, and snoring and was not able to get back to sleep. I needed something to help. I tried Mack's foam ear plugs. They work pretty good for noise reduction, but my ears would hurt and throb making my sleep difficult in that way. I even had the small ears size. They were comfortable to side sleep with. I bought some fake Loop alternatives as just ear plugs. They were comfortable, did not throb like the Mack's in my ears, but did not block out enough sound. When I tried a bigger ear plug piece, I found the throbbing ear syndrome again. These were comfortable to side sleep with though. I then bought a cheap knock off brand of "sleep buds". They were the most comfortable thus far. They would bluetooth to my phone so I could play either music or some white noise from my phone. They claimed to have ANC. They were helpful to block out some sound because of the ear fit, and because they could bluetooth to my phone for music or white noise. However, with the ANC on or off, I did not detect any difference in sound reduction. These were kidney bean shaped sleep buds and did not stick out much from my ear. The ear plug piece was comfortable, but the harder plastic part would start to be annoying after a few hours when on my side. They were ok. Sound quality was decent. Maybe a C+ for an overall grade for these. However, they didn't stop all the sounds and I still woke up occasionally. I hesitantly tried the A30's. This is no small investment! With the rubbery ear plug piece and ear fin, these buds were comfortable. While on my side, they have been the most comfortable thus far. I can sleep well with them in actually. I still have a little bit of pressure while on my side, but some nifty pillow management helped relieve the pressure. I am using the attachments they came with out of the box. I really like the white noise sounds. I have Still Lake as my favorite. It is a sutble sound that helps my brain drift off. With the fit of the A30 alone, I can block out most of the noise for the night with these standard size pieces without using ANC. Last night, I had both my wife snoring and banging on the ceiling above. (To be honest, my wife's snoring is not super loud but enough to wake me up). Then I realized I didn't have the ANC on. Well, i turned the ANC on and WOW what a difference. It was almost like I had over the ear headphones with ANC on. All that noise disappeared. I was very impressed, at least I recall being impressed. I was asleep!! The sound quality is perfect for night time sleeping. In reading other reviews, I agree that these are not your everyday all day ear buds, they are really designed for sleeping only. The ANC works really well and I noted quite a difference between on and off. Last night I set them to use ANC until I was alseep and then go to local mode. After 8 hours, I still had 30% of the battery left in each ear bud. So far, the battery life has been great. I have yet to spend a whole night with bluetooth and ANC on, however. I haven't needed to. I know at $200 it seems like a lot to spend for ear buds that you only use for sleep and that aren't designed for super high quality audio sounds. However, this week has been the best sleep week I've had in two months since those neighbors upstairs moved in. You do need several nights to get used to the fit and feel. Not because they are uncomfortable, but because when something new is in your ear and you aren't used to it, it can feel funny and weird which may keep you awake instead of helping you sleep. But, give it a few nights, and if you are like me, they get more comfortable the more you wear them. I can sleep on my side with these but I need a soft pillow. A really firm pillow would hurt my ears after a few hours, as it would everyone else with anything in their ear. Everyone is a different size and shape, but I have found these A30's to be comfortable, and of high quality. The app is full of options to help customize the experience, and they do what they claim they will do. After this week, my wife (who is very thrifty) is asking if she can try these out and maybe get a pair because she notices such a difference in my morning wakefulness. Hope this helps those of you out there like me needed something to help get your sleep back. I would definitely buy again and am grateful for this product.

Outstanding, but make sure you buy the SPECIAL ones
The A30 SPECIAL earbuds (the purple and white ones only) are my holy grail for masking chainsaw snoring as a side sleeper. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE LISTING TO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE PRODUCT YOU WANT. I highly recommend the A30 Special over the A30 original--I have now tried both since I ordered the original accidentally the first time around. Anker support was phenomenal in helping me exchange to get the ones I wanted. I sleep (or try to) next to a very loud snorer. I had tried four other types of sleep headphones, but they were uncomfortable and I could still hear the snoring. I used to have a pair of the Bose sleephones, but they eventually kicked the bucket and couldn't be replaced. The Anker A30 Special earbuds are SO comfortable as a side sleeper. Within the box, there are several size options for both the tips and the wings so that you can customize a perfect fit. I don't even notice them anymore, and they stay in my ears all night. The ANC on the A30 Special is very good. Before I got the Special, I was sleeping with the A30 regular (ANC on) + over-ear headphones with ANC on, which was the only thing that let me sleep. The A30 special pretty much gets to that level of noise cancelling on its own. The snore masking audio options are really nice. I love the completely customizable white noise options too. I do not love the included meditations and sleep stories, BUT! You do not need to only use the in-app noises to get the main benefit of these headphones! The headphones detect when you fall asleep and then switch to local mode with ANC off to save battery. This works really well for me. I set up my sleep preferences for the night in the app, start my sleep, then go to Spotify to listen to my own sleep podcasts and music with ANC on. At some point after I'm already asleep, the headphones switch to be in local mode w/snore-masking audio and ANC off to save battery. In the several weeks that I have been using the A30 Special, the timing on that has worked every night. I have never once been woken up by snoring, and I've never had it switch to local mode too early. Sometimes I wake up for other reasons throughout the night, and often I can fall back asleep even without ANC on. But if I need it on again, it's easy enough to restart my sleep in the app to get that benefit again. The battery life on the A30 special is great. They have lasted through the night every night so far, with using the settings that turn the ANC off after I'm asleep. The plain A30 did not last through the night on weekends when I slept more than 7 hours. Beyond their functional abilities, they even FEEL luxurious--I love the glide of the case and the snap of the earbuds as I put them back. Even better than the Bose Sleephones were. Finally, the support team at Anker is so helpful and resolved my issue right away. They very generously let me keep the A30 originals while the A30 specials shipped to me, so that I could still sleep in the meantime. I have full confidence that they stand behind their product and will help if I encounter any other issues. Overall, I can't recommend the A30 SPECIAL earbuds enough. They are 100% worth the price, and have given me my sleep back. Also, shoutout to the Get Sleepy podcast for being the best sleep stories out there!

Overpriced and underfunctional
These are non-functional for their intended purpose unless you require very little sleep. First, the volume level of these speakers seems very low by default. Compared to my other earbuds (an older set of Space A40s and a set of Bose QuietComfort 2024 earbuds that I tried), these required a much higher volume level across all types of listening scenarios. The volume issue is relevant because it affects the earbuds' noise masking/cancelling capabilities as well as how much battery life you can expect from one full charge. I wanted earbuds that I could use with ANC on for at least 6+ hours to block my partner's snoring. I also wanted to be able to stream ambient sounds/music/white noise over bluetooth the whole night as a sleep aid. (I tried the built-in noise masking options, including the option to customize your masking sound, and disliked how low-quality and harsh they all sounded.) These earbuds only last 6.5 hours max when brand new in my preferred mode of use. I need more sleep than 6.5 hours most nights, and because lithium ion batteries degrade, these buds would only be even partially functional as a sleep aid for me for a few months, if that. These buds thus seem like a poor value for the money for how I want to use them. The A30s also seem overpriced, even by Anker's standards, because they just announced an upgraded version of these buds (advertised to have a longer battery life than these regular A30s) that will be sold for $20 less than the launch price and advertised MSRP of the original A30s. I also strongly dislike the shoehorning of AI bloat in the updated soundcore app. The "brainwave audio" tracks are all quite annoying/distracting, imo, and it looks like Anker generated a bunch of non-cohesive AI slop images to accompany the sleep tips portion of the app. Sucks that Anker would rather generate cheap visual soup than hire designers or artists who could create cohesive and relevant art. The transition from bluetooth audio to the noise masking sound in local audio mode, which can be triggered when sleep is detected to preserve battery life, was abrupt enough (due to how much louder the the noise-masking sound with no ANC seemed compared to the volume of bluetooth audio + ANC) that it woke me from sleep several times, which was also pretty annoying. I don't care about or even really trust the accuracy of the sleep tracking features in the soundcore app/these earbuds, so I didn't test or even set up that part of the app. As far as positives go, the buds really are small and lightweight. I struggled to find a good combination of ear tips and wings that would lead to a secure, noise-blocking fit in each ear, but that's not unusual for me. The silicone material seemed nice enough, and I liked the sliding case lid. Overall, I cannot recommend the Sleep A30s as a sleep aid. The set I tried is being returned due to the short battery life when brand new and the lack of good app features or built-in noise masking sounds.

Lasts through the night, not great app, almost useless noise cancellation
After three shipping attempts (these appear to be a high-theft item in transit), I got these (A30 "Special") and have been using them for a while. # Fit and Comfort These are comfortable, for the most part. There are a number of sizes for both the in-ear part (in plastic and in foam) and the outer-ear part (the part that presses against your ear folds to keep these in place). Honestly I couldn't see much of a difference in how the outer-ear part fit, but a bit of experimentation was able to get a good fit on the critical in-ear piece. I don't generally have any trouble keeping these in all night long. To insert these, you push the in-ear part in with the outer-ear part pointing "up", then rotate the top towards the back of your head so those outer-ear parts push against the ear folds. I did find if I "over-twist" then I wake up in the middle of the night with sore ear canals, because doing so causes the inner ear part to push against the side of the ear canal, and more of a twist isn't necessary to keep these in all night in the first place. # Noise Suppression and Cancellation Putting these in (I use the foam inner ear pieces, which it says offer better passive noise reduction) the noise suppression is noticeable and significant. I can't hold a conversation with them in, although I definitely can tell if the other person is sleeping. So noise suppression is strong, across the spectrum. Noise *cancellation*, however, is a different beast entirely. I have a hard time even seeing the difference between noise cancellation on and off. It just doesn't seem useful, especially coming from using my AirPods Pro during the daytime. Really makes me wish Apple made a version of AirPods for sleeping in. Being able to switch between "transparency" mode and a better-working "noise cancellation" mode would be very welcome here! # Battery life I find that if I run these on bluetooth all night long, they *might* make it through the night. If I have it switch to "local audio" (up to three "soundscape elements" like rain falling, thunder, waves lapping on a shore, etc) when it detects I am sleeping, they easily last through the night. I haven't had any issues with the switch to local mode; it has always accurately determined when I am asleep to make the change, so I fall asleep with a "brain wave" soundscape, and wake up with my chosen local audio running. # The App The SoundCore app is IMHO a bit of a mess. I went looking at a couple of well-reviewed alternatives (Calm and Better Sleep) and found that those apps are even *more* of a mess, and relatively expensive ($70-80/year after a 1 week free trial) to boot. Also, those other apps only work in "bluetooth" mode, so the ear buds would be prone to dying before the morning. So, I went back to using the SoundCore app. Unlike the expensive apps, you are very limited in how you construct soundscapes, only able to choose *three* components. And these soundscapes can get repetitive because of that. Another note on the app: you can't do anything in the app without the earbuds connected, and they will only connect when out of the case or in the case with the lid open. Many times it is very slow to register that the earbuds are connected (that is, I have the earbuds connected to my phone over bluetooth, even playing music on them, but the app says I need to connect them). Eventually, tapping on the "connect" button will pop up a warning saying that continuing will disconnect the current earbuds, and if you continue or cancel at that point it "sees" the earbuds. # Controls These operate on a "multi-tap" control scheme. I find this to be rather uncomfortable because each tap pushes in on my ear drum with pressure, and have also had it inadvertently register taps when I'm just adjusting in bed. You have double-tap and triple-tap settings, so between the two earbuds you can control four things. By default those are "bluetooth <-> local audio", "noise cancellation", "volume up", and "volume down". No play/pause. No next/previous track (which makes less sense in a sleep earbud anyway). I really miss the better-thought-out control schemes of Apple headphones here. # Technical Glitches While the earbuds snap confidently into place (magnets, how do they work?) in the holder, annoyingly often they either don't make good enough contact or just don't detect that they are in the holder. I have found that in the morning I need to put the buds in place then wait a few seconds to verify the light "slow pulse" on *both* earbuds. I didn't do this once, and when I went to use them the next night one of the earbuds' battery was dead so I needed to re-seat it and wait before putting them back in.

Just don’t work as they are supposed to
I purchased these and they weren’t working correctly. I called their customer service and they were completely unhelpful. On the off chance it was a hardware issue, I returned them and ordered a new pair. Received the new pair – same set of problems. They are supposed to switch from Bluetooth mode to local mode when I fall asleep. They simply don’t do this. Sometimes I get woken back up from whatever I was listening to in Bluetooth mode because they haven’t switched over. More often though, they switched from Bluetooth mode to no sound. If I open my phone, I can see that it has switched to local mode, but it’s somehow paused. I have to hit play if I want it to be in local mode which is not something I’m going to do in the middle of the night. I also noticed that even if I manually switch between Bluetooth mode and local mode, the local mode is set to a really low volume and I can’t change the default. i’m a side sleeper and they are also tolerable for falling asleep with, but definitely not comfortable enough to sleep all night with – I had the original Bose sleep buds, which were comfortable enough. I’ve read many conversations on Reddit and other reviews and it seems like the most recent firmware update has just caused a ton of problems with volume, sinking, and the switch over from Bluetooth to local mode. It also seems as though they haven’t updated that software in the last six months because people have been complaining for a long time. So I’m returning my second pair and despite the mixed reviews, I’m going to give the Ozlos a try - at least I know they are comfortable because it’s the same design as the Bose buds.

Best Option for Noise Blocking Sleep Headphones
I was a little worried by the bad reviews but these are the best sleep headphones on the market right now. I have used sleep headphones for years going back to the Kokoon and most recently the Ozlo. I think the problem with these reviews is that people are complaring these to regular headphones, which you can't do. With sleep headphones, you pay a premium for the size. In order for you to be able to sleep with these inside your head and to make sure they stay there all night, they need to make compromises to keep them as tiny as possible. The Ozlos were my favorite before but they had a few issues. Although they are very comfortable and stay on all night for the most part they didn't do an amazing job keeping all the noise out. Also, the volume on the Ozlos was very low for any music or sleep sounds being played on them. Many times I wanted to turn the volume up and it wouldn't go any higher. The A30 fixes both of those issues. The sound blocking is the top of its class and the volume goes up significantly higher. For all those complaining about the price, the Ozlo are much more expensive and have less features (no ANC). There are some trade offs though. The Ozlos are significantly smaller than these and are more comfortable. Although these are comfortable enough for me and stay on all night, some may have an issue. I value the noise blocking more than absolute comfort. If your room doesn't get very loud and you care more about comfort, you may be better off with Ozlo. I live in NYC though and there is always some idiot outside making noise at night over here. If the loudest sound you deal with is your partner snoring and you need something to take the edge off, these are probably overkill with the ANC. The battery life on both is comparable and they last all night. I'm not usually a fan of touch controls on headphones but these work really well and I don't really get false positives. These are really well made, thoughtfully engineered sleep headphones and as someone who really needs them, I appreciate that people keep working to make these sleep headphones better and better.

Soundcore A30 Earbuds: Strong Hardware, Limited Software
These Soundcore Sleep A30 earbuds are very comfortable, and I can wear them all night without discomfort, even as a side sleeper. The ear canal fit hardware and noise-blocking with ANC are also excellent. That said, I initially ran into some frustrating software limitations that impacted their effectiveness as a full-night sleep aid. The companion app feels unintuitive, with basic settings requiring trial and error. If you struggle with the app and documentation, I found that AI based search produced better results. More importantly, the three sleep modes each had trade-offs: Bluetooth-to-local mode → Switches to stored sounds but disables ANC/snore masking once asleep (requiring you to open the app to restore if you wake up). Auto-silence mode → Goes quiet after detecting sleep, again needing the app to restart sounds if you wake. Bluetooth with ANC mode → Keeps everything active but drains battery faster (~6 hours in practice). When it shuts off, I generally wake up. The biggest pain point for me was waking in the middle of the night needing to quickly reactivate ANC or masking sounds. Without an easy phone-free way, it meant groping for glasses/phone in the dark. After posting my original review highlighting these issues, Soundcore's support team reached out proactively with advice and if we could not make it work a refund. I was impressed by how responsive and customer-focused they were. In the 2 weeks I’ve had them, I’ve had a couple of firmware updates. This leads me to believe that they are continuing to refine the product and its capabilities. I'm optimistic that continued software refinements will make these better. With the comfort there and the core of hardware that has good masking capabilities, the software is close. For the service and comfort, I will rate these with 3 stars. When and if the software gets there, these could be a 4 or 5 star product.

Holy Grail of Sleep Headphones?!
I might have finally found the holy grail for my sleeping situation. About me: I sometimes have a hard time falling asleep so I love going to sleep listening to my current audible book. Of course I don’t want it to play for too long so I usually set a 7 minute sleep timer but on the nights I have a hard time falling asleep I have to keep resetting it. Also I’m a light sleeper and my husband has started snoring so he wakes me up in the night or early morning. I usually end up waking up about an hour and a half before my alarm is set. I’ve tried so many things to keep me asleep when my husband snores. Mack’s Ultra Soft foam ear plugs - these are fairly comfortable and work great at blocking the noise, but sometimes my ears are so sore in the morning and I can’t listen to my audible to fall asleep. Loop sleep ear plugs - these are comfortable and fairly effective at blocking sounds but sometimes they fall out and of course I can’t listen to my audible. Bluetooth sleep headband - these are comfy and work OK for listening to a story as you fall asleep, but they do not help me block out the snoring at all. Sometimes in the middle of the night, I’ll try playing some kind of sleep music, but the snoring breaks through too much for me to be able to fall asleep. Hearprotek wireless sleep earbuds - I tried these for about two weeks. They worked great for falling asleep and they are relatively comfortable, but they would sometimes fall out. I found the wires connecting them to each other to be annoying. AirPod Pros w/ANC - I do not recommend this for sleeping, but I have done it. They work great for listening to a story while you fall asleep and blocking noise, but they are not comfortable at all. One nice thing that you can keep resetting the seven minute sleep timer by just clicking on the AirPod, but that’s about the only plus. Now for these sound cores. I switched to the smallest silicone tips (they also have foam ones for more sound blocking, but they say they’re less comfortable). You can also switch out the little silicone pieces that sit in the other part of your ear, but I stayed with the default ones. I listened to my Audible via Bluetooth and then let it switch to snore masking sounds when I fell asleep - with the volume at 30%. I did opt to back up my book a little bit the next time I listened. I do recall waking up twice and I could kind of hear my husband snoring, but I was able to fall right back asleep with the “whispering brook” sounds. In the morning the app suggested a different snore masking sound based on its analysis of the snores it heard in the night. It suggested the “himalayan downpour” - which I look forward to giving my husband a hard time about. I don’t think this will mask sounds as well as the foam earplugs, but they’re more comfortable and I’ll happily take that trade off to be able to listen to my story when I fall asleep. I’ll update my review if I change my mind down the road but so far so good.

10/10 Highly recommend
I’ve been using it for a month now, and it’s the best purchase I’ve ever made! I’ve been sleeping so much better, the noise cancellation is absolutely amazing, it’s comfortable to sleep with, the app is super easy and super cool. I also use as normal earbuds to listen to music and specially for audiobooks, when I don’t want to be distracted by the outside noise. Absolutely amazing product!

Somit also bei mir kein Akku Problem.

Świetne do podróży w samolocie (Anc świetnie wygłusza hałas samolotu i rozmawiających pasażerów).
