I'm not sure if they sell refills, but computer paper cut in half works perfectly and is probably cheaper than a specially designed refill would be anyway. You really can't go wrong with this product! No regrets on this purchase at all!!

can you use this as a desk in the car?

I don't think so. I feel like the cover has grooves in it
