It works very well - but it is a bit slow. Not super slow - but for this price I rather like to have an instant read thermometer showing me the temperature... instantly. Also: changing it from Fahrenheit to Centigrade is awkward to say the least (in the battery area). Overall nice.

The Lava tools Javelin Pro is the only thermometer you need for all your cooking! Takes a reading so quickly and is easy to use. Love the magnetic back that allows you to stick it to the fridge for easy reach. Great colour selection and it seems very accurate (for using with candy which often requires specific temperatures I have had no problems)

This Lavatools thermometer showed up dead on arrival, which was annoying right before a burger shoot. The screen lit up but the temp readings were nonsense, so my timing was off on the first batch 🍔. I emailed support, they replied the same afternoon and just shipped a new one, no arguing, no phone tree, no “your call is important to us” loop. The replacement snaps temps fast and now I just tap it and get a big clear number while I adjust lights with my other hand. Their quick, human email made me pretty glad I stuck with it 🙂.
