This is a book I bought for home reference. We BARELY use it, but when we need it, it is an excellent resource. We mostly refer to it when comparing English grammar to how other languages work - the kids are learning Latin, German, and Spanish. Great book to have on hand. Written for English-manguage-learners who need to write. Perfect for quick explanations and giving excellent examples.

if you understand the in-depth meaning of verb tenses, you will really know what people are talking about, what they really want to tell you. I think verb tense is the most important grammer amoung any other grammers(noun, adj, prep...), and this book you must read. Because it covers a lot of very detailed stuff about verb tenses, it will make you finally understand the real meaning of people's talking, movies or tv shows's dialogue, etc. I like wathching movies and TV series but sometimes I am confused about the dialogues but this book is going to help you overcome it.

This book is by far the best grammar book I have ever read in my whole life. It's not only tell me about the basic concepts, but also elaborate them in a way that I can grasp intuitively so I truly stay learned.

Got it for my job to improve the writing skill. There are a lot of practice in this book. It's difficult to find a guide book just focus on the vert tenses. This little book should be quite helpful!

Was not easy to follow and not helpful for my purpose. Maybe it would be ok for adults, but was not good for my 6th grader.

This is the best book on English verb tenses I have come across. Firstly, I like the method used in this book. To begin with, the first chapter teaches you the difference between stative and dynamic verbs. This is the key to unlock the mysteries of tenses and to understand the nuances of tenses. Without this strong foundation, building your understanding on tenses would be ineffective and unsuccessful. I think this where this book is a winner while other books on tenses fail to accomplish their purpose. It shows you why certain verbs cannot be used in this progressive aspect. You will learn why only a particular tense is appropriate for a given situation and why using other tenses for the same situation will result in ungrammatical sentences. Each aspect is explained in a separate chapter with abundant example sentences and exercises. This book is meant for advanced learners/high school students/adults, not suitable for kids.
