Other then your typical New product smell Yes it is odorless I've had one for 20 years in my Semi Truck but i always had a liner for it so i didn't have to worry about washing it

The strap is 4 inch long and it is elastic. It depends on the car but in most cases you can easily hung it around the gear shift and it is very convenient to keep it there for easy reach.
