Tamiya 1:35 British Main Battle Tank Challenger 1 (Mk.3

Initially it was a challenge. But I settled into it and did the job. Made a free changes. Painted it and the figure. I’m happy. I think it came out nice.

Another great model made by Tamiya. I love how they made the gun able to elevate and stay in certain degrees of elevation. 2 things though. 1: manual nneeds to be refined more. I wanted the desert version of the tank but its hard to understand which pieces of the model are desert and NATO versions. Like actually tell us which is NATO and Desert instead od using different colored arrows. 2: i misaligned the wheels on my tank. So the thanks is sort of wobbles when pressed down on certain corners. The model needs a aligning tools for the suspension to make the wheels level. Other than that, its perfect. Looks just like the Challengers used in Operation Desert Storm. Great job.

when it comes to tamiya, you can count on them to make a great model. It's just the best!!!

Good Tamiya kit. Well made sprues with barley any seam lines. No fitting issues at all. Newish kit so expect good details and mesh baskets.

It took little long to arrive (came from Japan), but I am very happy with the purchase. Good product at reasonable price.

I bought this kit way back in the 1990s when it was first offered by Tamiya. Kit is 1/35 scale of British Challenger 1 main battle tank. I built this kit to help battle a drinking problem I had way back then, and it helped. Anyway, kit comes with: 1 full crew figure; 1 piece track shoes with great detail on both sides; 3 piece main gun barrel (2 sides and cap); vinyl mesh for turret basket; extra parts like fuel/water cans; poly-caps for the wheels; tools; anti-aircraft machine gun; tow cables; rear mounted fuel drums; posable hatches; NO turret interior; and other goodies. Instruction sheet was easy to read/follow and had a brief history of vehicle in multiple languages. Suggested paint guide and decal placement provided. Decals were good and adhered to vehicle without any problems. Think there was a choice of decals for3 vehicles - I used decals for the British 7th Armored Division, the famed "Desert Rats" of WWII. Construction of kit was pert near flawless. I was just getting back into model building in the 1990s and this was probably one of the very first Tamiya kits that I had built - and have been hooked on Tamiya ever since. Was amazed at how quickly/easily kit went together. My kit turret is just a bit too snug (may just be my kit) and unable to rotate. This kit actually got me interested in modeling modern-day armored vehicles as well. Rememebr that this is a plastic model kit and construction is required. Younger persons, or persons just starting out in modeling, should have no problems tackling this beast (except trimming the vynol mesh to fit the turret baskets) but that should be overcome quickly - that was also my first experience with that type of material as well. Paint/glue not included.
