Quiet, Powerful, and Perfect for Family Living
This Midea U-Shaped Window AC has been such a lifesaver for my family this summer! We live in a busy neighborhood, and with my old AC I always had to choose between staying cool or dealing with loud noise all night. This updated model really solved that problem. It’s so quiet that my kids can sleep peacefully in the next room without being disturbed, and I can finally enjoy a cool night’s sleep without the constant humming of a traditional AC. The cooling is strong and fast—it cools down our living room within minutes, even on hot and humid days. I also love how energy efficient it is. We’ve been running it almost every day, and I can already see that my electric bill is noticeably lower compared to our old unit. That makes a big difference for a family budget! Another huge plus is the smart control. I can turn it on with my phone before I get home, so the house is always comfortable when we walk in. My kids think it’s fun to adjust the settings from the remote too—it’s very user-friendly. Installation was easier than expected, and I really appreciate that I can still open and close the window with the U-shape design. It feels more secure and keeps the outside noise down too. Overall, this AC is quiet, powerful, energy-saving, and truly family-friendly. I’ve recommended it to several of my friends already because it just makes home life so much more comfortable. Definitely a 5-star product that’s worth every penny!

Super quiet and cool!
Life changing. I can’t sleep when it’s above 70 and was resorting to using my giant roller AC unit, which had a decibel reading of 68. The choice was loud ass AC or 80 degrees in my room at 11pm. I’d finally had enough and turned to wirecutter, and this unit was their top choice for window units. It’s SO quiet, efficiently, and quickly cools off my room. I love that I can control it via the app and it’s connected to wifi, allowing me the option to cool down my room before I get home if need be. My other favorite features are the oscillating option and the ability to dial in the fan speed (not just choose from HIGH or LOW). It’s also nice I can still open the window for cool air on days/nights the AC isn’t necessary. Installation was really easy, the video was helpful. I do recommend two people to lift the unit into place, but I was too stubborn to wait/ask for help, and was able to do this on my own. I highly recommend this unit!

recommend it👇
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect window air conditioner for months.First , the installation was a breeze—pun intended. The instructions were clear, and the U-shaped design fits snugly in my window without any awkward gaps. I was worried about it being a two-person job, but I managed it all by myself in under an hour. The included mounting kit and foam seals made sure it was secure and airtight, so no cool air escapes and no warm air sneaks in. Now, let’s talk about the noise level—or should I say, the lack thereof. I’ve had traditional window ACs before, and they sounded like a jet engine taking off. This Midea unit? It’s so quiet I forget it’s even on sometimes. The U-shape design really works its magic here, directing the noisy components outside. Whether I’m working from home, watching a movie, or trying to get a good night’s sleep, this AC doesn’t disrupt a thing. It’s like having a silent cooling partner in the room. When it comes to cooling power, the 8,000 BTU is no joke. My medium-sized bedroom goes from stuffy and warm to comfortably cool in just a few minutes. I love that I can adjust the temperature precisely with the remote or even through the smart app. Speaking of the app—smart home integration is a game-changer. I can turn it on while I’m still on my way home, so I walk into a perfectly cooled space. It also integrates with voice assistants, so a simple “Hey, cool down the bedroom” does the trick.Build quality is another standout. The updated model feels sturdy and well-made, not flimsy like some budget options. The control panel is intuitive, with easy-to-use buttons for fan speed, cooling modes, and timer settings. Even the little details, like the sleek white design that blends into my window frame, make it feel like a premium appliance.I also appreciate how energy-efficient it is. Even though it cools quickly, it doesn’t skyrocket my electricity bill. The eco-mode and adjustable fan speeds let me balance comfort and energy use, which is a huge plus for long summer months.Honestly, I can’t recommend this air conditioner enough. It’s quiet, powerful, easy to install, and packed with smart features. If you’re tired of loud, inefficient ACs, the Midea MAW08V1QWT is the upgrade you need. It’s not just an appliance—it’s a summer game-changer. Five stars, hands down!

Disappointing Downgrade
I bought my first Midea U-shaped AC around 2022, but got rid of it when it was recalled. The AC units being advertised here as “updated models” are definitely pre-June 2025 models. According to the Midea website, units manufactured before June 2025 were recalled and deemed unsafe due to mold issues. This should be a clear cutoff for what is being distributed to customers. Despite that, I was sent units that fall within this recalled timeframe. I ordered this “updated model” AC, but the unit I received was manufactured in 2024. It did not include the updated button design that is supposed to distinguish the newer models, and it was an older model shipped in packaging meant for a newer model (2025). The unit also arrived with visible scratches on the bottom, and the packaging had clearly been previously opened. I exchanged this unit, assuming it was an isolated issue. However, the replacement unit was also scratched and, more concerning, also had a manufacture date prior to June 2025. After experiencing this twice, I looked into other customer reviews and found that many others are reporting the same issues. This suggests a broader pattern rather than isolated incidents. At this point, it no longer appears to be a quality control issue, but rather a consistent practice of shipping older, potentially refurbished, and possibly recalled units while advertising them as new and updated models. The model they are currently sending is as quiet as the first one I’ve owned, but cools worse. The smart feature does not work properly. It works after initial setup, but after the AC is powered off and I ask Alexa to turn it on, she responds, “The AC seems offline. Make sure it’s turned on and has power.” This happens even when asking Alexa to turn the unit off, or set it to a specific temperature. In other words, the “smart” functionality is effectively useless and has to be reset after the AC is powered off.

Great unit
Best window A/C unit I've owned. It requires a bit more time to install than traditional units, but nothing too labor intensive or difficult. It's very quiet and does a really great job of cooling my room. I have encountered the issue with it randomly beeping on it's own when not in use (which is why only 4 stars) but I just unplugged it for the night and it was seemingly fine by the next day. It's not an expensive unit to run and has nice features to ensure it isn't running needlessly or using too much energy. (You can monitor it's energy consumption on the app.) I would buy it again and will probably look to this company in the future.

Far superior to old style window units, but won't fit EVERY window without some minor mods
I bought the 8,000 BTU model. This thing is super quiet compared to a new Frigidaire regular window unit of equal size. It's as quiet as the mini-split I have in the back of the house. But, it has a small squirrel cage fan like a mini split, and those things are a pain to clean. It comes with updated rubber drain plugs to better drain the water from the rear of the unit. I don't understand why you even need the plugs. All my other window units just have open holes. I bet this unit would work fine if you just left out the rubber drain plugs and left the open holes. If they were worried about bugs getting in, bugs would just come in the side breathing slits in the sides of the outside cabinet. I had to use a small 1"x3/4" strip of wood against the inside window ledge of my old house to use as a spacer to make the window fit in the center of the "U" gap. It's an old house in which I replaced the windows with metal frame dual pane windows. It ended up like a flat ledge window with a metal frame that stuck up about 1" There is no way the Midea engineers could come up with something to blindly fit EVERY window out there. So, I couldn't fault them for that. But, they need to mention that mods may be necessary for some odd applications in older non-standard windows. But, you can tell a lot of engineering went into this unit, and other than the mod I had to make, installation was easy. I also measured from the outside sidearms to try and get the mounting frame centered in the window. Somehow, I managed to get it about 1.5" off-center. No big deal. But, you may want to double-check this before you cut all the foam insulating pieces. Overall, this unit seals and insulates better than any other window unit I've seen. But, there are still few small cracks to fill before your done. Also, the rubber feet that sit against the outside wall can be reversed if you have an inconsistent surface like vinyl siding. This thing blows COLD! Even on high fan speeds, it blows COLD compared to my other window unit. I like the way you can aim the air both up and down and side to side. You can even make the up-down motion oscillate. It comes with a remote. It has a timer, and it's also wifi capable. You can download an app to control it. It's also "Alexa" capable. I'll update this review if I encounter any "surprises." Otherwise, this unit appears to be well worth the money, and far superior to old style window units.

Runs quite and cooling down really fast in my house
I recently purchased the Midea MAW08V1QWT U-Shaped AC Window Air Conditioner, and I can confidently say this is one of the best investments I’ve made for my home comfort. This particular unit is the most updated model, and you can really tell that Midea has listened to customer feedback and improved it in several important ways. Setup & Installation: The installation process was surprisingly easy compared to traditional window AC units. The U-shaped design is truly innovative—it allows you to keep your window mostly functional and lets in natural light while still providing a very secure and stable fit. The included installation kit made things much smoother, and I was able to set it up without needing extra tools or outside help. The design also makes it feel safer since the unit locks into place much more firmly than older box-style window ACs. Noise Level: One of the standout features is how quiet this AC runs. I’ve owned several window air conditioners in the past, and most of them were so loud that they made it hard to sleep, watch TV, or even have a conversation nearby. With this updated model, the noise level is impressively low—it’s almost like having central air conditioning. Even on higher fan speeds, the sound is more of a gentle hum than the typical loud buzzing you’d expect. This has made it absolutely perfect for a bedroom or a home office. Cooling Performance: The cooling process is fast and efficient. Within just a few minutes of turning it on, I could already feel the difference in the room temperature. It evenly distributes cool air and maintains a comfortable environment without constantly cycling on and off. I’ve tried it on both humid and very hot days, and it’s been able to keep up perfectly. For medium to large rooms, this AC definitely gets the job done quickly. Draining & Maintenance: Another big plus is that the drainage system works very well. Unlike some older models where you constantly have to worry about water buildup or dripping, this updated design handles condensation efficiently. I haven’t had to deal with any leaks or messy situations so far. The filters are also easy to remove and clean, which makes regular maintenance simple and stress-free. Smart Features & Convenience: This unit comes with remote control and smart home compatibility, which has been really convenient. Being able to adjust the temperature from my phone or with the remote means I don’t have to get up in the middle of the night or while working. The controls are intuitive, and the display is clear and easy to read. Overall Experience: I’m extremely happy with this purchase. To sum it up: Most updated model with noticeable improvements Easy to set up with secure U-shaped design Extremely quiet operation Fast and efficient cooling Draining system works perfectly Low maintenance and easy cleaning If you’re looking for a window AC that combines modern design, quiet operation, and powerful cooling, I highly recommend the Midea U-Shaped AC. It’s well worth the investment, and I honestly wish I had bought it sooner.

Easy installation, quiet, and cold
I've only had this unit for half a day but so far it's been great. The installation went better than expected given it was my first time using a drill but other than accidently putting a couple extra holes in my windowsill (user error) it is very secure. The AC works incredibly well and my only complaint is that I wish the lights could be dimmed for night time. I prefer my room to be as dark as possible. It is soo much more quiet than my previous portable ac. All in all, I highly recommend it.
