This fully illustrated 30th anniversary edition of the landmark organic farming book offers new photos and updated information for small-scale market growers and serious home gardeners. โOne of Americaโs most innovative farmers.โ โMichael Pollan, New York Times โbestselling author of How to Change Your Mind A pioneer of the organic movement in the United States, Eliot Colemanโs books and innovative methods have helped innumerable organic farmers build successful farms in deep accordance with nature. The wisdom in this seminal book holds true even as the modern agricultural canon has grownโin large part due to Colemanโs influence as a wise elder with decades of experience. New material in this edition includes: โข Beautiful color photographs, taken by master gardener and author Barbara Damrosch (Eliotโs wife and co-farmer) โข Updated information on how Eliotโs practices have changed through his experiments over the last 35 years โข A new section from Damrosch about incorporating flowers on the small farm โข More information on new tools Eliot has invented that donโt appear in any of his other books Inspired by the European intensive growers, The New Organic Grower , 30th Anniversary Edition offers a very approachable and productive form of farming that has proven to work well for the earth and its stewards for centuries. Gardeners working on 2.5 acres or less will find this organic farming book especially useful, as it offers proof that small-scale market growers and serious home gardeners can live good lives close to the land and make a profit at the same time. The New Organic Grower is ideal for young farmers just getting started, or gardeners seeking to expand into a more productive enterprise. Review: Truly a Master's Manual - Elliot Coleman is an important voice in the organic and sustainable gardening/farming world. This edition of his classic text is incredible useful and jam-packed with details about how to get the most out of your small-scale farming or large scale gardening efforts. For the average home gardener, much of what Coleman offers here is overkill. However, the principles and practices can apply wherever organic food is grown. It is written clearly and doesn't tend to be overly technical. Be forewarned, Coleman writes in a winsome and inspiring way that might just inspire you pricing nearby plots of land or daydreaming of moving to New England to open your own market farm! Review: Helpful and informative - Packed with helpful knowledge to get you growing!

Best How to book on the market for small farms
This is the best laid out book on small property gardening I've ever seen. He gives us clear directions and shares how he does things based on YEARS of trial and error to point out what works and how to find out what will work for you. We are using it as a blueprint for our retirement income farm on less than 20 acres. Thank you to this author!!!!! Cost of the book is so minimal based on the knowledge in it and the suggestions. He lays out his crop rotations with green manures, etc. Takes a lot of risk away for us just starting out. This book will save time and money for anyone who uses it in accordance with what the specifics of their property are. If you are just looking, he lets you know what to look for. If you already have your property, he tells how to best use it. Soil health explained in detail. Love this book.

Although this book is intended for professionals, it is an outstanding resource for any organic gardener. The wealth of information is presented clearly, and most of the contents either directly apply or lend deeper understanding into keys to success with my tiny suburban garden.

This man is the best at organic gardening
When do you get to learn from the best in a field? I bought the first edition of this so many years ago and after reading it I gave almost all of my gardening books away because his was literally the best at all things organic. Through the years I have purchased some for gifts and loved this new edition, thank you for your service to gardeners everywhere!

One of the best books on organic growing
Eliot Coleman is an experienced farmer, eloquent author and probably an extremely hard worker. I have always enjoyed his books, written in an easy to understand conversational style and full of valuable information for me as a ever-learning gardener and garden instructor. Even though this book is written primarily for farming, I have been able to take the information and apply it to my smaller garden beds. Exceptionally informative, shows the reader how to improve the soil with natural ingredients, and that's what it is really all about, the soil!
