despite many tube changes
this thing didnt do it for us. sounds compressed, sterile, like steel.... compared to apex mics, some AT mics, and almost 20 other less than usd 200 mics i have...this one might be the least favorite... just doesnt sound right. it will give you great gain tho. thats all.

Great Mic
Amazing Mic for the price. Sounds very similar to the MXL Mogami edition (The one with the gold mesh). Very good for vocals and acoustic guitar recording.

Works great for a few months. Unusable following
Worked well for a few months, crystal clear audio. It has been a little over a year and today (while technically functional) records audio sounding like princess Leia when she is disguised as a bounty hunter looking to rescue Han - Completely distorted, with an unthinkable amount of background noise. Even when the gain is super low, and you can barely hear the subject speaking/singing, you can still hear a slight FWOOOOSH from the microphone. So I replaced the tube with a beautiful, new, one. Issue is the same. Put the tube in a known working preamp, works like a charm. In short: This mic will work great for 2-3 recording sessions.
