The first book laid all the groundwork for this epic conclusion, and here the stakes rise even higher. The characters are pushed to make choices that shake them emotionally and morally. This book has the perfect blend of mystery, danger, and eerie tension, the kind that makes you feel like you’re right there with the characters, stepping deeper into a forest where something both beautiful and terrifying is waiting. The characters are complex and flawed in the most realistic ways, and that makes them feel incredibly raw and human. While Elspeth largely remains trapped in a universe with no time, Ravyn and Nightmare are on a final mission to find the last card needed to lift the mist and save their world. But will Ravyn be able to sacrifice it all? A nail biting journey that truly seems unforgettable and unforgivable. The love story between Ione and Elm fills into the story beautifully. Their chemistry, banter all perfectly sizzles. What really stood out for me though, was Hauth Rowan, the evil prince. A character I so loved to hate. He brought in the extra edge into the plot that I savoured. An absolutely gripping tale.
