Does it get caught in hair, causing pulling and breakage?

The most important thing (even when using your hands) to avoid tangling and breakage is NO CIRCLE MOTIONS!! Always go side to side or up and down. Also , excessive scrubbing with this tool I’m sure will cause breakage. I’ve been using one of these for a month and only wish I had been using one sooner! My scalp have never been healthier and same with my hair!! Also if you struggle with Dandruff (not a dry scalp), oil build up, and ingrown hairs this is a saving grace!

Is this really needed

It is great for those with thick hair where it is hard to get shampoo all the way to the scalp sometimes. Works well for those with dandruff to eliminate it one point during the day instead of falling throughout the day. Good for those with eczema and psoriasis that causes plaque on the scalp. Needed? Maybe not. Helpful for many people? Definitely

Can you use this on a dog?

Try a Kong Zoom Brush for your dog. It's similar and I got one for myself to use a brush. Lol That said this one looks similar

Does this work on dreadlocks?

I have locs and it worked well on my scalp. I used it to wash my hair and I did circular motions with my scalp.
