I googled the problem with my toilet. It brought up several Youtube videos. I watched each one until I heard the sound my toilet was making. Super easy fix, it took maybe 3 minutes.My only problem was the shipping. I requested next day delivery since the noise was awful and we had to turn the toilet water off every time after using it to stop the squealing. It didn't come the next day or the next. I finally got the part a week after ordering. I checked the UPS site tracking with the # given in the item shipped email. They had no record of that tracking number until 4 days later.

The toilet in my apartment had always filled slowly but suddenly started almost not filling at all after flushing. Rather than call maintenance I took a look and figured out this little cap valve thingy was really busted and clogged with the seal breaking. I was going to try to just replace the little rubber seal but the close price difference for this entire cap assembly thing made it an easier choice. It takes less than a minute to install and my toilet is running like a champ, way better than I had expected. $5 later and no waiting or dealing with maintenance and I'm good to go.

I saw this and tried just replacing the "valve/head" of the unit... just turn off the water, twist off, twist on new and turn the water back on...You do NOT have to remove anything else...And it seems to work better than the original unit.

Saved me so much money. Easy to change out. Didn't even call a plumber.

Replaced in 5 min and stopped a leaking toilet instead of replacing the whole fluid master for $17/-!

Quick and easy to install. The little plastic piece snaps into place easily(if you need it)--although it is slippery, I don't recommend putting it on over the toilet, in case you drop it. Stopped the leak immediately upon installing this new piece.

One of our toilets wouldn't stop hissing. I tried cleaning the any sediment out of the existing valve, but that didn't do the trick. Thankfully, Amazon had this Fluidmaster Replacement Valve Assembly in stock and ready to ship. I thought about just trying to replace the valve, but this set isn't that much for expensive and I wasn't sure if the problem was with the valve or with the cap, so I went this route. The old set pops off very easily, and the new set popped on almost just as easily. No more hissing toilet!

For whatever reason local big box stores don't stock these in favour of replacing the whole valve. These work and take all of 20 seconds to replace with less wastes going to a landfill and no draining the tank.
