I've used a bunch of dandruff shampoos over the years. This is the latest promising option that isn't excessively expensive and works well enough. I use it about once every other day or two. Too much washing messes with my hair balance but I find if I am active outside, that's less of a concern but I still tend to alternate between this and a less intense shampoo. It has a very light scent out of the bottle, somewhat citrusy. Feels more like a medium-thick lotion than typical sticky shampoo. I apply, let it sit a little bit, then rinse and apply conditioner. From what I can tell, my scalp is less red and itchy and flakes very much reduced. Patches are gone, hair is soft, and I don't need to worry about everyday snow. It may cost more than say Head & Shoulders but I do think it's worth it. But everyone is different so what works for me may not work as well for someone else. As of this review posting, I am almost done with one bottle and have a second ready on hand. Sometimes product ingredients change especially when newly launched (I think my first bottle was the first launch cycle) so should I notice a change in efficacy, I will update this review.

I’ve purchased this dandruff shampoo from CeraVe several times because it truly works wonders. From the first few uses, I noticed a clear reduction in flakes and itching. It cleans my scalp very well without leaving my hair dry or harsh. I also like that it’s gentle and suitable for regular use, which keeps my scalp balanced and healthy over time. My hair still feels soft, fresh, and manageable after every wash. This is definitely one of the best dandruff shampoos I’ve tried, and I will keep repurchasing it. Highly recommend!

Significant improvement - noticeable after the first 30 days of use and has remained effective with weekly use after six month. Not only is it better than the other dandruff shampoos at controlling dandruff and itchiness - its also super hydrating which typically isn't the case with these types of shampoos. I have typically 4b natural hair and shampoo 2x weekly. The conditioner to this shampoo is amazing, super thick and it really stretches. With any "treatment" shampoo, you have to give it time to work - I typically shampoo and cover my hair with a conditioning cap while I take care of round 1 of shower business - rinse - and repeat with conditioner and detangle. Yes - this product has enough slip to detangle type 4 hair without using the entire bottle. This is my go to shampoo and conditioner and using it 2x per week, I only just started my 3rd set. I am so looking forward to getting braids again!

This shampoo works well for reducing dandruff and calming an itchy scalp. It feels gentle and doesn’t dry out my hair like some other anti-dandruff products. The ingredients seem good for scalp health too. The only downside is that it takes a few washes to see noticeable results, so you need to be consistent. Overall, a solid option.

I bought this CeraVe Hydrating Anti Dandruff Shampoo for my mother who has suddenly began getting white flakes in her hair, which were significantly more noticeable after washing. We had tried the more popular Head & Shoulders brand, but it didn't seem to have any effect on getting rid of the flakes. So, once the bottle was just about empty, I decided to search for a gentleman, yet (hopefully) effective different brand of anti-dandruff shampoo. That's when I came across the CeraVe brand. I've always had great results with their skincare products, the price was great, and it got really positive reviews. I also liked that it was paraben, phalate, and fragrance free. So, I helped her wash her hair a few days ago and those itchy flakes just disappeared like magic!! I'm pretty sure that both shampoos have the same active ingredient, however the H&D was full of fragrance and could have been contributing to the irritation of her scalp. This shampoo was creamy, easy to get into a nice sudsy (but not too sudsy) lather and it rinsed completely out of her hair. There was no flaking noticeable afterwards and her naturally soft, curls were beautiful. Thank you, CeraVe for an affordable and effective product to take care of a mild to moderate case of dandruff. Will definitely be repurchasing.
