Battlefield of the Mind (30th Anniversary Edition): Winning the Battle in Your Mind [Meyer, Joyce] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Battlefield of the Mind (30th Anniversary Edition): Winning the Battle in Your Mind Review: Wonderful book! - This book really hits the nail on the head! Anyone who reads this will get something from it, no matter what you have going on in your life. Even if you think you 'have it all together'. Of course Christians know that's not the case with very many people. We all need help at times. We're only strong when we walk with Him and depend on Him. If you have ANY area in your life that need changed or improved somehow, this book will help. In fact, you may find areas of your life you didn't KNOW needed help. I've had several 'a-ha!' moments. Anyone who has watched or listened to Joyce is familiar with her vernacular. You can HEAR her say these words as you read them. It's written as if she is sitting right there in your reading nook, sharing a cup of coffee or tea with you, reading devotionals along side you. It reads like your best friend is trying to say, 'Hey! Wake up! Shake off all this negativity, all that crap you don't need, and get your act together! I've been there and I can help.' While there are plenty of scriptures and scriptural references, if you're not a practicing Christian and don't read the Word often, or at all, there is still a lot of secular reading here that can help anyone shed negative thinking and show you how you really can overcome your past so that you can enjoy a wonderful and peaceful present and future. This book may be a good introduction to a non-practicing Christian, to show you what the Bible and Christ can do for and in your life. It's written very well, but is a very easy read. So you want to just read and read. There is a separate devotional you can get to go along with this, with a lot of good messages about daily living. If you don't read your Bible, or even own one, please don't be afraid to purchase this book. It speaks to people of all walks and faiths. It CATERS to Christians. But it has an awesome message in it for ALL people. If you've ever flipped through the tv channels and stopped to watch and listen to Joyce for a few minutes and found yourself thinking, 'Hey, this isn't bad. She's just talking about her own trials and tribulations and telling those people in the audience what helped her overcome them', you can rest assured this book is like that. She doesn't scold and call you a horrible person. She just lets you know what you can do to fix, or at least greatly improve, a few things in your life and be happier. My ultimate wish, of course, is that this book brings people TO Christ. He has done so many amazing things in my life, that I know He can do that for you too. :) Review: Great Book - This is one of my favorite books. It's so relatable and informative. I have highlighted and wrote notes in the margins of mine and re-read every couple of years. So worth the read.

EXCELLENT READ
I barely put this book down! I believed God used Joyce Myers Battlefield of the Mind to renew my mind, and transformed me into the woman He’s created me to be. I know that I will read this book again and again. This was by far the BEST book I’ve read to date!

You Can Win The Thought Battle
This book was awesome and it will become a reference book for me because this is an area of my life that has been a huge challenge. By nature I'm a very analytical person and being a woman just further propels the "thinking" nature a great deal. For many years I justified my erratically positive/negative thinking, but this book disputes many of my thought processes that are against God Biblically -- meaning she shares with me scripture and its meaning of why certain ways of thinking are wrong. The verse she uses most is 2 Cor. 10:5, "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God; we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." She uses this verse all over her book in various translations. It was super convicting to me. She uses many, many Bible references (also in various translations). The Word of God is extremely powerful. What made this book so wonderful to me was Mrs. Meyer speaks so plainly and clearly, as if she were sitting in front of me. It isn't in a language that is foreign, rather very directly and plainly. I'm used to preaching that is very "theological" and "godly" sounding in nature, but often those messages do not impact the heart of me as it seems so removed from where I am in life. She gives many examples in her own life and her struggles to win in the war of our thoughts. We do have control and we can choose to feed thoughts that go against God or not. We tells of her strong-will and how God has had to break that will. She shares of her mistakes and how God was able to work through those things. It was well-written, very humble, yet so direct. She didn't try to coddle you and say something may or may not be wrong. I am touched by the clarity, directness, plainness of the language. God bless Mrs. Meyer. I've bought some of her other books and look forward to reading them. I've also been putting the things to practice about submitting all my thoughts to Christ. Sometimes the battle is won, other times not. However, I am well aware now of what is going on and now can better fight the enemy. Satan has been fighting hard, but I know God is victorious and if God be for us, who can be against us?

I love books that put you in the driver's seat
I love books that put you in the driver's seat. The ones which not only discuss issues people face, but also offer legitimate solutions to combat and conquer these issues. Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer is one of those books. The title drew me to the book and the content kept me hooked. Ms. Meyer believes we can change our lives by changing our minds, and I do too! While many other authors simply offer a ‘Pray and Wait Approach’, Ms. Meyer provides reasonable, practical, and effective tips and action steps to focus your mind and think the way God thinks. What will this accomplish? “Gain control over you mind and find freedom and peace.” “Recognize damaging thoughts and stop them from influencing your life.” “Be patient with yourself even when you make mistakes.” “Arm yourself with the Word of God, praise, prayer, and other powerful spiritual weapons.” “Overcome your mental ‘wilderness’ – the bad attitudes and excuses people use that keep them from God – and find undreamed-of happiness and fulfillment.” Sounds promising, doesn’t it? IT IS! When reading material, I'm always storing quotes and nuggets of information in my head or writing them down. There was so much good stuff in Battlefield of the Mind that I made a decision to go back through the book a second time to capture all the notable text so the first time through, I could just simply enjoy the read. I must share that aside from the plethora of solid, helpful information, there was one area, in particular, which struck a very important chord with me. Before I met my husband, I used to get moments of overwhelming despair; despair which would always preempt a significantly positive event or season. I had a hard time verbalizing how I felt, but the term ‘Dark Clouds' seemed to come close. These clouds would block the sun, cause everything to appear gloomy and gray, and leave a pervasive feeling of anguish. It felt like a self-defeating behavior, except I had no intention of sabotaging my happiness or joy, so I didn’t understand their presence. I've never suffered from depression and have a 'never say die' attitude; fear and defeat are not emotions I spend any time on. So when the dark clouds would roll in, I didn't understand why, nor did I know how to prevent them from showing up. Thank you, Ms. Meyer, for giving my experience a name - Mind-Bending Spirits. In this section she speaks of the evil spirits lurking around and the havoc they can play on our mind. Boy did this hit home! Her experience and advice in this area was invaluable, but even beyond that, feeling understood and having my feelings validated was priceless. Even though I haven't experienced those awful Dark Clouds in years, I now have an understanding of the situation and feel confident that should they return, I'm equipped to deal with them in a positive, healthy, proactive way. Do you suffer from conditions of the mind such as worry, doubt, confusion, depression, anger, and feelings of condemnation? These are all addressed, as are the consequences of judgmental, critical, suspicious, wandering, and passive minds. It’s really fascinating reading and relatable on so many levels. If some of the text doesn’t apply to you, it will certainly apply to someone you personally know and may help you relate more effectively. The last third of the book focuses on ten ‘Wilderness Mentalities’. A wilderness mentality is a wrong mindset. For example, “My behavior may be wrong, but it’s not my fault,” and, “my future is determined by my past and present.” One by one, she exposes these false concepts and tackles, head-on, exactly how to overcome them. Her honesty is refreshing, her no-nonsense approach much needed, and her encouragement contagious. “People who must always have someone else pushing them will never really do anything great. Those who only do what is right when someone is looking won’t get very far either. We must be motivated from within, not from without. We must live our lives before God, knowing that He sees all and that our reward will come from Him if we persist in doing what He has asked us to do.” Born from Ms. Meyers own trials, tragedies, and ultimate victories, she shares openly from the heart for our benefit. Do you desire to begin changing your life? Then you need to change your mind first. Pick up Battlefield of the Mind today.

Refreshing and Immensely Helpful !
Refreshing! This book helps me tremendously. Initially I was not looking forward to reading this book as I was told to be careful of Joyce Meyer, and also saw negative youtube videos about her. Also I did not want to read a self help book and thought this is just another of "think positive" type of books that are so prevalent. After reading the book though I experience great changes in my life ! First of all, I thought the book will tell me what I already know. In truth, many things she taught are common sense and I have already know. But Joyce puts it in such a fresh way that even through many things I already know, I am motivated in a new way and feel positive changes start to come into my life. Of course continued prayer and the help of the Holy Spirit is the reason for the changes. But I feel reading this book helped me quite a bit more than I expected. I believe this book and other wonderful books we pick up not by accident but by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Not only am I more positive, but I put more into practice of thinking about what I am thinking about. I am being more aware of what is going into my mind in a conscious manner, and asking God more and more to help me with this. Numerous positive results including improving my personal relationships and being more grateful and happy despite seemingly dire and depressive situations sometimes I find myself in are just some of the benefits, as well as growing closer and more intimate with God. Now I find after much study and consideration and guidance I am frequenting the Joyce Meyer Ministries Website more and more. She is a wonderful teacher and she does help a lot of people. I will definitely ready more of her book !
