The vocabulary lists aren’t too long. It’s definitely possible to teach yourself with this book as opposed to other books that are more designed for classroom use (Domigpe’s “Elementary Tagalog”). I wish there was a little more detail in the grammar explanations but you can usually figure things like the order of enclitics by the example sentences elsewhere in the text. There are errors in the book and it seems like most of these are cut and paste errors or maybe changes from an earlier version of the book.

My wife is Filipina and is very good with speaking English but this book sometimes stumps her lol. She's learned a few translations that she didn't know before this book. I can't say I've had the time to fully sit down and study the book but I sure would like to as soon as possible! It's a dream of mine to speak tagalog to my wife and in laws.

Tagalog for Beginners is an excellent resource for anyone starting their journey in learning Tagalog. The book moves at a comfortable pace, making it easy for beginners to grasp essential vocabulary and grammar without feeling overwhelmed. Explanations are clear and concise, breaking down language concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand and apply. One of its standout features is the included audio files, which are incredibly helpful for pronunciation practice and listening comprehension.

I think this book has a ton of information. As such I think as a reference book this is a good book to have. such as for understanding when to use "Ba" in a question, or using "Po". However, I bought this as a way to provide me an easy to follow book on how to speak the language. I have a Filipino Girl Friend and with her help I was able to finish the first chapter, after a few attempts. There is just so much information that I found it overwhelming. If I did not have assistance from my girlfriend I would have given up. As such from My own experience I cannot say this is a book for someone who has no assistance or support. It is not a stand alone book, its just too complex. However, I do think the amount of information is usefull and I have refered to the book sveral times for information. So I am still using it to learn, but maybe not following the original intent of the book.

I bought this book for learn Tagalog because my husband is Filipino and I want to learn his language and culture.

I bought this because my girlfriend is Pinoy and I wanted to learn how to speak Tagalog as well! so far it has been helpful. Btw this is proper Tagalog some of these words are unused by native speakers.

If you take your time and read the instructions that come with this book 📖 you will find it is excellent. The audio portion is perfect for the English speaking learner.

Missing vocabulary introduced in the dialogues and texts. Very confusing explanations. I have to use translators to fully understand most texts at the end of each chapters. The author takes the liberty of changing the world order and sentences structures which is common in Tagalog but without explanation. I don’t recommend this book if you are willing to learn on your own without previous knowledge. I had to seek out some other resources to find a use of this book.

よく感じることですが、洋書は付属CD （DVD）の内容が充実していますね。特に、練習のさせ方。ポーズを置いてきっちりリピートさせたり…本書にもトレーニングがふんだんに盛り込まれています。 →音声収録時間:7時間39分!! また、巻末のabc順索引（単語）がとても重宝しています。 英語学習と一石二鳥。超「推しtextbook 」です(笑)。

je disais difficile les premiers jours ... en relisant deux a trois fois les 4 premiers chapitres on prend le pli bonne methose au final qui aide bien , je vais acheter le advanced du même auteur..... :) comme il est extremement difficile de trouver de bons ouvrages commencez par celui là .... et bon voyage aux Philippines :)
