Very Useful Angled Needle Nose Set for Tight Spaces
I picked up the ARES 2-piece angled needle nose (kiwi) pliers set mainly for tight and awkward spaces, and they’ve definitely earned a spot in my drawer. The angled head design is the real win here. It lets you reach into narrow, recessed, and hard-to-access areas where a traditional straight needle nose simply can’t get in, especially around hoses, clamps, wiring, and crowded engine bays. The jaws are well made and properly aligned. There’s no offset, no side-to-side wiggle, and they close evenly along the serrations. The grip on fasteners and small parts feels secure, and the thin profile of the jaws really helps in tight spots. You can tell from the pictures that the angle provides better leverage without putting your wrist in an awkward position. One thing to note: the pliers don’t naturally stay closed when you set them down. That said, it hasn’t been an issue for me. If you lay them flat or store them in a deep drawer, they sit just fine and close without any problem. Not a deal-breaker at all, just something to be aware of. The handles are comfortable and have a nice textured grip. The texture works well, but I can already tell they’ll pick up oil and grime over time, so wiping them down after greasy jobs is a good idea. Comfort-wise, they feel good in the hand even during longer use. Overall, this is a solid, well-built set with good alignment, no slop in the jaws, and excellent access in tight areas. If you do automotive work, DIY repairs, or anything involving cramped spaces, these angled needle nose pliers are absolutely worth having. Highly recommended!

Well made.
They work very well and are made strong but what I need is something much smaller for very small carburetor E-clips.

First class quality
For the price, you're not going to get much better. The quality of these tools rivals most American and German manufacturers. Even Knipex and Whia are not making all of their tools in Germany and more. The trade off might be in a slightly lower quality steel or heat treatment or even a little less attention to detail and finishing. But at this price point, these are fantastic. I'm new to the angle head pliers but I do like them. I actually bought these to keep in the kitchen utility drawer. I have always kept a small assortment of tools there to handle small jobs around the home to reduce trips out to my shop or garage. These excel for this purpose. I'm quite happy with these.

Excellent Controlled Gripping Strength. Great Angular Torque On Sensitive Components
These Kiwi Pliers are pretty good! The long ones help me pull off plastic tips that house sensitive plastic component that when damage makes the product unusable. So I use these to get a good angle & leverage that won't damage the inner component while checking for machinery damage. Strong & firm enough for hard plastic. I tried plastic on plastic, but the amount of effort is 4.5/5 and we need pressure that is controlled at 4/5 or higher to take this piece off. These make pulling the piece that is compressed on 2/5 effort instead. Normal decent channel locks/pliers with a button that lock in place are about 3.5 to 4/5 effort and you'll get a rhythm to get it done, but time is of the essence & this has made the precision & pressure part nearly effortless to say the least. The other plastic tip Japanese pliers (non-marring) I use are way better for pulling fuses [round fuses] & won't make my leads question. The jaws are consistent and get bigger at that start of jaw opening up bigger up the slit. The inside is round at the bottom like a knipex smooth-jaw [at the fulcrum it rounds off probably for gripping bolts or something stick with the cylindrical setup. I personally don't like the small pliers as the jaws aren't proportional to the handle & regular pliers delete this one's purpose somewhat especially the newer knipex with the extended jaw. Make the handle smaller and this is viable. The smaller one also doesn't open and close smoothly even if I applied precision oil on it. I personally wouldn't might a SPRING LOADED VERSION OF THESE! That would take them to the next level. Lots of compliments on the big ones

They seem to be of excellent quality
I've had two duckbills in my box for at least 40 years. One of them is so worn the tip of the jaw is actually rounded and the grip teeth are pretty ungrippy. The other set, identical, I guess stays in the box until I need a pair for delicate work. Finally decided it was time to try a new pair. COULD have gotten a truck tool for a huge price, I guess, but I'm now retired and have no need to go chasing a truck down at a shop somewhere. THESE seem absolutely superbly designed and built. My old hands will REALLY appreciate the grippy handle stuff, not on my old ones. These are Chinese, I think, but I've been getting some German tools over the last half decade as they are the equal of the truck tools, and these duckbills seem the equivalent in quality. I'll be sure to raise, um, caution if they don't hold up.

Bent???
Kind of let down a little, I’ve gotten other ARES tools before and they have alway been top notch, but this one arrived a bit twisted, not sure what happened here but I’m just gonna bend them straight, probably a seconds set of pliers or made on a Friday. The last pic is the smaller pliers which weren’t bent

These pliers give you the control you need in tight spaces without damaging the insulation. They’re wide enough at the tips to make those clumsy muti wire connections to ensure a solid joint when the Marietta is twisted on. I’ve been on the lookout for pliers like these for a long time.
