HP L1740 LCD Monitor, 17-inch (PL766AA#ABA)

This monitor works great, I love the height adjustable arm. It's much heavier than I expected. Almost 20lb. The USB hub was instantly recognized and installed. I also bought the attachable speaker set, which attaches to the bottom of the screen and is USB powered.

Much bigger than I had expected, but that actually worked out perfectly, due to my using it as a second monitor. The base is also adjustable, so you can make the monitor go as high or as low as you want it to go, which is EXCELLENT, since I need it to tower over my laptop in order to make an effective second screen. The only con I can really say is that the difference in the screen contrast when going back and forth between my laptop and this monitor sometimes hurts my eyes, but it's not that big of a deal. You just may want to look away for a second before looking between monitors, particularly if you have one display that is newer/fancier than this one.

Before ordering this monitor, I looked up the specifications online, looked at pictures and any reviews I could find. The stand looked potentially fragile in the pictures I found in the reviews, but otherwise it reviewed well against other used monitors in this price range. For what I needed it for, the potentially fragile looking stand wouldn't be an issue, AAfter receiving the monitor, assembling teh stand, adjusting it, etc.. I think the stand is fine. I hated it when I first pulled it out of the box. Now I like it .. but there will be some people who won't. it dares to be different. The package I received exceeded my expectations. First off, it was meticulously packed in a way that minimized any chance of shipping related damage. The power cord, VGA cord, and DVI cord were all bagged separately and in good condition (Yes! It did ship with both a VGA and DVI cord). I don't recall if it shipped with instructions on how to re-assemble the stand - I don't think they're needed. The exterior was in very good condition .. it was gently used. There were no dead pixels on the screen. I had my kids watch a little piece of a movie on it and they thought the brightness and colors were as good as anything else in the house (except the HD TV). I work in the computer industry and there are a fair number of display devices scattered around our house. The package speaks well for the seller. I'm guessing they bought a lot of these from some organization who was changing out their monitors. Said that to say that my experience with the quality of the monitor I received may or may not be the normative experience. Personally, I'd feel comfortable doing business with this seller again. For the money, there's nothing not to like.

I needed a monitor to replace my very old one which was starting to make everything on the screen pink. I've only used this monitor for a day, so I can't tell you about longevity. But the screen is bright and clear and the colors look good. It is heavy, old styled and sort of clunky...this, remember, is not a new monitor...the new monitors are sleek and light. However, this serves my purposes just fine...I just need a monitor that works. Four stars because there weren't screws in the box to attach the screen to the stand. Also, I used my old monitor cable and plug because what came with this one was VERY used and sort of chewed up looking.

I wish they would have mentioned that the 17-inch flat panel display weighs 60 f-ing pounds.What a waste of money, I made a mistake, and to make things worse, its probably too old to donate. Don't waste your money on this item.

The monitor works fine but the monitor stand they sent was a mess. The support arm was set up for wall mounting and only fit the base with the monitor in a horizontal position. I had disassemble the support arm and reassemble it in the correct position and it it still less than perfect but service able. Arrindy.com should check what they ship. On the other hand the used monitor was in very good condition.

We bought this used monitor several months ago for everyday home office use and it still works perfectly. After adjusting the settings, the color is rich and the picture is sharp. For the price we are very happy with it.

Perfect, great for the price. Older & not as Hi-Fi as a newer pricier one would be. The stand was also a bit clunkly but the screen is so light-weight it was better to discard the stand & arrange otherwise.
