長期保存データを入れるため今回信頼できるこちらのメーカーにしました、 HDDですが書き込み速度も速くSSDでなくてもなんら問題ありません、 重さはそれなりにありますが持ち歩くわけではないのでコンパクトでとても良いです。 セキュリティーソフトも使えて安心。 よい買い物ができました。

以前使っていた物が調子が悪くなったのでこちらを購入。薄くて小さいのでディスプレイの足元？に置いています。省スペースで助かります。

外出先でのログデータやバックアップデータの採取用に購入しました。 ここ数年データの肥大化が著しく、USBメモリでは間に合わない状況が増えてきたため5TBモデルを選択。 今更消えゆく運命のMicroBコネクタ製品は買う気になれなかったので、割高になるのは承知の上でTypeCコネクタ実装モデルである本製品を購入しました。 2.5型の外付HDDとしては高さが2cm近くありますが、3.5インチよりは(当たり前ですが)小さいです。 付属のケーブルは両端TypeC＋TypeC→Aの変換コネクタ。この変換コネクタが曲者で、最初接続が甘く不良品かと思ったのですが、よく見るとTypeCケーブル側と変換のそれぞれに突起に対応するようなくぼみがあり、両方を正しく組み合わせれば、奥までしっかり嵌合して抜けにくくなりました。 裏面には小さいながらもゴム脚があり、一応ずれ難くなっています。音はほぼ無音に近く、発熱もあまりありません。 LEDは白色。ハードウェアの安全な取り外しを行っても消灯せずにゆっくりとした点滅状態に移行するだけです。ユーティリティ上からの設定で消灯などもできるようですが試していません。 USB3.0以上のポートであれば問題無く動作しましたが、USB2.0ポートでは一部のPCで正常に認識しない、すぐ切断されるなどの問題がありました。ACアダプタなどで追加の電源供給はできない仕様なので、古いPCでの使用を考えている場合は注意が必要かもしれません。 本製品はハードウェアによる暗号化に対応していますが、使用するためにはWD製ユーティリティのインストールとSESドライバの適用が必要です。 インターネットに接続している環境で、ドライバの自動インストールが有効になっている場合はSESドライバが勝手に適用されますが、そうでない場合はユーティリティソフト、またはドライバ単体をインストールしない限りデバイスマネージャ上に？マーク付きのデバイスが接続している間居座り続けます。 これが嫌でWDの外付HDDを避けていたことを、買って接続してから思い出しました。今更しょうがないので諦めて使っています。 暗号化機能は無効化できませんので、この機能を使う/使わないに関わらず、？マークを消したければドライバもしくはユーティリティをインストールしてやる必要があります。 なお暗号化は別に必須ではありませんので、デバイスマネージャ上？マークが表示されていても外付HDDとしては問題なく動作します。 その他いろいろな付加機能の為のユーティリティがメーカーから提供されているようですが、自分の使い方では不必要なので評価対象にはしていません。 2024年11月追記 同型番モデルを追加購入したところ、仕様が変更されているようでした。 (回転数5400→4800。CrystalDiskInfo上の表示) ベンチマーク計測結果は差が無いです。CDI上のデータ見なければ気付かなかったかも。

WD製品なので問題は無いと思われる。 HDD全体にロックが掛けられるところが気に入って既に何台も購入している。

バックアップ用とのHDDとしてはコスパ良し。ただアクロニスは使いづらい。

i'm an it professional and i use this disk for several things. (read below) i think this is the best value for your money as a backup disk. it's not the best because that would be getting a docking station and an internal disk that way you know 100% what type of disk is in the inside. Also it has a usb-c port instead of regular usb-a port or mini or what ever. That's the best connection you can get for something you are going to be connecting and disconnecting a lot. in fact i just returned a different version of this disk because id did not have usb-c .. And before you ask yes you can use a usb-c to usb-a cable and adapter without any problems. it's 100% compatible with all operating systems And performance is way better then non usb-3 spinning disks. I use this disk to backup my nvme 970 pro in all my laptops. And the two 970pro's i use as fast external storage.. That's write i have several external backup disks. This physical spinning rust disk or mechanical hard drive is only for home use as a bulk backup or when i need to transfer large files like movies to watch somewhere in house. The benefit is i don't have to care about wearing out my SSD. in my case not a real problem as i use MLC ssd's instead of TLC or even QLC. But still i am paranoid when it comes to storage. i have partitioned the disk and use different filesystem types for different operating systems. exFAT if i need to read/write on windows and Linux and macos. And a ext4 partition to only use on Linux. i like to use native filesystems when i do a lot of read/write on a partition. Most if not all the times where i need to access a partition on different operating systems it's small data like documents. The least discriminating operating system is Linux that's what i use to format and partition all my disks using Gparted. But i suppose you can do that on windows ?

As the title suggests, I bought the 5TB metal enclosure version for use as plex media drive for use with the Nvidia shield tv pro 2019. It works well and has no issues. It even sleeps after the Nvidia shield has been sleeping for a while (even if the USB port power is left on in the Shield settings). You can wake up the HDD by starting the shield or by running a plex client remotely without turning on the shield. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this product.
