Easy to prepare and delicious
This Six Pack of prepared spices for making chicken curry is another in the recent increase in products making ethnic cuisine easier to make. Usually the added convenience is at the expense of flavor, e.g.-microwaveable frozen chicken curry. When trying to get authentic flavor without spending an inordinate amount of time, there are many products (e.g., Shan) which give you packs of prepared spice mix. However, most of these require the addition of other spices (i.e., garlic and ginger paste) making the cooking process more time consuming. Kitchen's of India Curry Paste gives you all the spices that one needs to make chicken curry that tastes just like mom's. In fact, mom ordered a package! Total time from addition of chicken and water is about 40 minutes and the results are great. Each package gives you enough for a meal for two. Only drawback is that you can't reduce the "chili hotness" without reducing flavor of other spices; however, this curry paste is milder than most similar products. If anything, you may want to add some chili pepper to taste. Overall a great product for quickly and relatively inexpensively making authentic Indian chicken curry.

Wonderfully Spicy Intestinal Devastation
I have no experience with Indian cuisine. But I like chicken, sauces, and serving things over rice. The picture looked appealing. The comments were favorable. So I order it and some good Basmati rice. I thaw out some chicken, and immediately I am confused as to whether I am to brown the chicken first, or throw it in raw. Most things I prepare call for browning. But nothing in the instructions calls for it, so I chop it up, toss it in raw, add water, and the contents of the pouch. Mixes really easily as the sauce heats. As it simmers, it develops an exotic, frankly cloying sweet smell that I admit caused me some doubts. But I'm committed to trying new things and 25 minutes later I serve it over Basmati. Delicious! It's really much more savory than it smells. The chicken cooked perfectly well despite my doubts, and absorbed the essence of the curry nicely. The spices all work really well. However... The heat! Oh by sweet Ganesha's trunk, the sneak-up-on-you spicy heat! Why has no one mentioned this in the comments?? Two days later, and I still get rumbling in the intestines! So be prepared, fellow initiates to Indian cuisine. Be prepared. The human body adapts. Lose a sense, and the remaining senses become more acute. As this delightful curry continues to scour my lower digestive tract of all feeling, my sense of taste will appreciate it even more acutely.

It will taste amazing regardless. This is not the authentic method exactly
Want to kick this product up a notch? This is how I prepare it. 1.) cubed chicken and marinate in full fat yogurt with some tandoori masala spices. 2 hours if you're feeling fancy. I buy it on amazon, search tandoori masala. 2.) roast the chicken in the oven on a baking sheet unless you have some crazy authentic tandoori from India then use that. Go with 400F until it's fully cooked. You want to fully cook the chicken before adding it to the gravy so it does not steam and dilute the gravy. 3.) the product under review, butter chicken curry paste from "kitchens of India." Do what it says on the package. Then ignore the package and add about 3/4 cup of tomato purรฉe. 4.) add the cooked chicken to the gravy you made with the curry paste. 5.) simmer this on low for at least 30 minutes. 6.) after your done simmering to your heart is content break out the heavy cream. Add about 3/4 cup, or whatever you think looks rad. You can't screw up heavy cream. 7.) serve with some naan, basmati rice, or an old shoe. It will taste amazing regardless. This is not the authentic method exactly, since I cheat with curry paste since the spices are difficult to find, and a pain in the ass. Adding the tomato purรฉe, and heavy cream give you something legit. Making a mock version of tandoori chicken to add to the gravy is worth it. No one from Punjab will know the difference. So that's actually my recipe from trial and error, hope you all enjoy.

Tastes great and is good for a quick meal!
This stuff is perfect for a quick meal. I've been doing chicken on the grill, chopping it up, and mixing it with this. Super simple and very tasty!

The chicken curry needs "filled out"
Grinding and tempering spices. Getting the balance right, etc. for curry from scratch is a fair bit of work, though worth it in the right circumstances. I got these packets in the hopes they would eliminate a lot of that work. Not so much. The water in the instructions would produce a very thin curry. Using less water produces a inedibly salty curry. With some fiddling, I was able to get a reasonably tasty curry with that thick porridge-y consistency, by running 1.5 onions through a processor and then cooking out much of the moisture, before stirring them into the base. I even had enough volume (using 2 packets) to cook down some plum tomatoes, and throw in baby potatoes and a couple boiled eggs for a friend who doesn't eat meat. So, all in all, pretty successful, but not much effort saved. I suspect the other two styles, which are given body by adding cream or yogurt, are easier.

Tastes awesome and super easy to make!
I love this product. You can make delicious curry that tastes like you spent a lot of time on it without actually spending much time or effort at all. All you need is a cup of water and a pound of chicken. You mix them together, put the temperature on low, then cover and come back 25 minutes later. Then you need to cook uncovered on high for 5 minutes (stirring) to thicken the sauce and concentrate the flavor. It doesn't get much easier than that and the flavor is awesome. Eat it with bread, on rice, or just by itself. I personally prefer this paste for chicken curry over the paste for butter chicken curry, but to each their own. I think it tastes better and you aren't adding the calories of the butter. Some might consider this slightly spicy, but for my taste it is not spicy at all. If you eat spicy food often you won't notice the spice and like me you will probably add your own heat. If you are very sensitive to spicy food then you will probably notice the spice but it's still mild.

Amazing but been hard to buy lately
Been buying and enjoying this curry for years. It's amazing stuff if you enjoy curry. Paired with some naan bread and white rice its even better. Spicy level is just right, the smell and flavors are divine. I am a bit concerned though as of late I have had issues trying to buy more. I really hope stock picks back up on this stuff. I'd be heartbroke if I had to give this up for our weekly meal. I really hope things return to normal and it's not so hard to buy this curry.

Not as good as I had hoped
I have ordered Kitchens of India products before (butter chicken and the rajma masala kidney bean curry) and have been pleased. Due to the good reviews for this product and my previous experiences with KoI, I didn't hesitate to purchase this. However, it's not really what I had expected. It's not as good as the butter chicken paste is, nor does it smell as good. This chicken curry paste is also VERY salty; I had to add more rice and vegetables to my bowl because I couldn't handle the salt. The flavor is strong, though not spicy, and I think that the butter chicken is much more balanced in terms of spices and flavor and I wish that I had purchased that instead. Still, this is easy and quick to prepare and while it doesn't taste great it's still decent, which warrants its 3 stars.

Taste great
This is the best paste, in my opinion, for who doesnโt like too spicy and ease. The taste is great and the paste is easy to use.

Great - but SPICY!!!
I recently bought this as a quick substitute, as I'm finding myself busy and don't have the time to make curry from scratch. I must say that I've been extremely satisfied with this product. Keep in mind that it's a super thick paste, so it goes a long way. It's very spicy, so I am finding myself adding a lot of cream in place of water to help with the heat. Overall, a very good product! Will be buying more soon!

Fairly spicy!
So yummy! I got all 6 packages (some reviewers said they didn't). Super easy to make - just add chicken and water then simmer! It was spicier than anticipated but I had a side salad with mine so the dressing helped cool my mouth. Awesome price for 6 packages.

Delicious
Used this chicken curry for the first time. It was delicious. Easy to use. Has all the spices and oil. Hot Spice level medium. ITC is a very reputable brand in India so i would buy it safely. I looked to purchase more of this product, but it is not available currently. Recommend to try. You will love it.
