Does is need a pre-amp - where does it get its power from?

The unit is self contained for power. The receiver has a built in rechargeable battery (li-ion with a usb charging cord) and the hand held unit needs two AA batteries. It does not need power from anywhere else. Make sure your receiver is fully charged before using session using a standard usb charger, then ensure you have AA batteries on hand in case the ones you have run down.

Can you use this with a Yamaha keyboard plugged into the aux port?

No. If you have to plug it into a phone, the plug is too big to fit the phone. Works with an amp.

取り扱い説明書がすべて外国語でしたので星4つです。でも商品自体がシンプルでマイクのハンドの底のところにコードを差し込んでコードの先にセットされていたジョイントみたいな付属品をつないでラジカセのマイク差し込みのところに差し込んだら使えました！マイクのテスト中は良好でした！タイムセールで半額だったのでお買い得でした！お勧めします！

コンデンサーマイクほどの感度はないです。その代わりダイナミックマイクなのでファンタム電源は要りません。価格からして地味にホワイトノイズが乗るんだろうと思っていたら、案外静かだった。（ホワイトノイズがないとは言っていない）素人が宅録で使う分には支障ないと思います。定番のSHUREの５８みたいな形ですが、価格が４分の１でこのレベルなら十分でしょう。カラオケマイクと言い切っていますから、それ以上の高性能を望むなら５８を買ってください。
