I can hear our living room clock 15 feet away, now that’s loud…which, by the way, totally drowns out whatever noise my Timex might be making 6” away in my wrist.

How does this watch stand up to outdoor use?

I purchased this Timex Expedition here on Amazon the summer of 2015. I wore it daily as I worked my land. It took a licking and just broke after almost 8 years. Before this other watches would only last a year. I'm back to buy another Expedition. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Good first watch for a teenager? For a present will it fit small wrists?

Check the band, most Expeditions have holes nearly all around, & so should fit even a slim-wristed teen just fine. You can trim off the excess for now, & get a new band if you outgrow this.

How do you change the date? There doesn't appear to be a middle setting and going around a 24 hour cycle doesn't do it either.

You have to go forward with the time setting, 24 hours for each day. I just reset mine this weekend to the correct date.
