It works with a USB flash/thumb drive, you could use a sd card with a USB sd card adapter. Cant say for sure it will work with a FireStick but it did work for my hacked Playstation Classic.

It's USB 2.0 and should work fine with the fireTV and a USB3.0 128gb memory stick, just please remember to format your memory stick as FAT32, I hope it helps.
