There were four nice pieces of about two ounces each loose-packed in broth
I have never had real abalone so this was an experiment. When I opened the can it was obvious that even though it was a sixteen-ounce can the weight of the solids would be something less. There were four nice pieces of about two ounces each loose-packed and floating in broth. The pieces looked just like the real abalone in the pictures of other products. Both the pieces and the broth were delicious. Jim

Not the REAL Abalone but tastes somewhat similar. For the price which is a fraction of the real thing, I can't complain. I'll be buying more in the future!~

Don't know why the good reviews but I am a seafood lover and when I opened the can it looked like big hunks of rubber and tasted the same to. Will never buy again considering you really do nor know what they are putting in the can. Could be cow tendons for all I know.

one of three cans dented
2/3 of the cans were fine. 1 of the cans was quite dented, making it unusable.

What is it?
What is this? Label said abalone type shell fish, so it's most likely not abalone. The shape looks to be cut from a large chunk of something, the texture is tender but no flavor. Could it be from a giant snail?

As close to real abalone as you can get.
Abalone type shellfish, whole pieces that can be cut on the bias. The slices were amazingly similar to real abalone. I like it sliced thin on a bias and served either just with a sprinkle of sea salt and a splash of lemon juice or in a ramen broth. It's a wonderful product I will purchase again.
