I absolutely love this Eufy FamiLock S3 Max. I have used other smart locks before, but this one immediately stood out and became a no-return purchase for me. The palm vein recognition is the real differentiator. You walk up, raise your palm, and the door unlocks. No keys. No codes. No phone. It just works. Once you experience it, it is hard to go back, especially when your hands are full. We have multiple users set up, including my wife and me, and it recognizes each of us quickly and consistently. I also love the built-in camera and doorbell. When someone rings the doorbell, there is a screen on the back of the lock so you can see who is outside without using a peephole. It feels thoughtful and very well designed. Being part of the Eufy ecosystem with the HomeBase makes everything seamless. The video quality is clear, the app is easy to use, and the overall system feels solid and secure. There are a lot of smart locks on the market, but the palm scan feature is what sold me. It is simple, fast, and genuinely useful in real life.

The eufy security smart lock s3 max is a game changer for our home security and entry door lock. It was extremely easy to set up straight out of the box. Came with all the tools and hardware needed. Looks durable, stylish, and versatile. I can use palm vein recognition which I have never heard of before till using eufy. This system is very accurate and uses biometric data to analyze my palm and open/unlock the front door. Super cool and unique. The other option to be unlock is also using a 4 digit pin that you can easily set up or the old school way if using a key. It is wifi enabled so connecting to the app is seamless once you make a user name and profile. Allows for custom configuration to your liking which is a plus. I.e. loitering alert, AI interface and recognition, and other neat features. If you have the eufy hub like I do, makes it even simpler to store videos and seamlessly connect. The camera is 2k and very crisp and clear. It also allows for getting a live preview of who's outside directly on the backside of the lock which is unique without having to open the door. 2 way communication is built in as well. Awesome set up that is very easy to use. Customize the chimes as well with the integrated door bell. Super easy to spot at night as the keypad lights up and so does the door bell light. Night camera activates and records flawlessly at night as well. All in all, I'm a big fan of all eufy products and this seamlessly integrated to my eufy ecosystem. I can also link it with Alexa and Google which is a plus. It's apple home capable but I have not tried since I don't use the apple ecosystem. No issue on the noise level and most definitely well worth the value.

The eufy Security Smart Lock FamiLock S3 Max was very easy to install, and I really like the smart technology built into this lock. I absolutely love the screen and the motion recording feature, it adds an extra level of convenience and security. The palm identification feature is extremely useful and works great. I haven’t tried the code access feature yet, but so far, my overall experience has been excellent. Definitely a great smart lock, and I highly recommend it!

*Update - back to one star! (Nov 4th). Brand new lock installed .... same exact problem as the last lock - bolt goes forward on an open door (this time at 3 minutes, the previous lock was 5 minutes). It seems they fixed the glitch where it would record while the door was open, even if you had the setting set to not record). *Updated from one star to three (Nov 1st)* After leaving a one star review, I was pleasantly surprised that Eufy Customer Service reached out with offers to remedy the situation. I received another lock to test out and hopefully it doesn't have the same issues (once tested, I'll change to 5 stars if it works like it's supposed to!) Definitely impressed by the service I received so far. I own a lot of Eufy products (indoor and out cameras, smartlocks, etc) and I can confidently say that this thing is not ready for release yet. They have an auto lock feature which does not work properly. The problem I've run into is when you leave the door open. It automatically locks after about 5 minutes. So the bolt just comes open randomly. And so if someone slams the door not realizing that the bolt is open, you're going to slam the bolt into the side of the door case. Other issues I've run into are the camera records motion non-stop, and it's not supposed to if the door is unlocked and you leave the door open. But in my case, it's still detecting motion and recording while the door's open, which it's not supposed to. I've had a tough time connecting to it to make any changes in the settings as well. I usually have to attempt two or three times which is frustrating because none of the other Eufy products have any problems connecting and I have a mesh network that works flawlessly in my house. I think this thing was released too soon. Some of the features do work such as the palm reader, etc. U've forwarded my complaints but basically have to do the research for them, they want videos sent, a complete write up of all the different issues and problems. Which kind of sounds like their job in my opinion ... Pretty sure I'm sending it back, but I previously owned an August Home lock, which was equally frustrating if you have Android 🤷‍♂️

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ – Great Lock Once Set Up (Be Prepared for Networking Setup) Updated Review – April 11, 2026 Updating my review after some trial and error. Right as I was about to remove this lock and replace it with a standard deadbolt, it finally started working. This is not your typical plug-and-play smart lock. Important: This lock only works on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. It will NOT connect to 5 GHz. I had to create a dedicated 2.4 GHz network to get it working properly. If you don’t have basic networking knowledge, you may need professional installation or assistance to get this set up correctly. Once configured, though, this lock is very impressive. • No key needed – palm unlock works great • Built-in motion detection with video/image capture • Interior display screen acts like a digital peephole Overall, it’s a powerful and feature-packed lock once everything is set up correctly. I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the setup difficulties and lack of clear guidance upfront. Bottom line: Great product, but not beginner-friendly. ⭐☆☆☆☆ – Two Units, Same Problems Installation of this product was a breeze, and I was genuinely excited to upgrade the security on my front door. Unfortunately, that’s where the positive experience ended. The first unit I received was defective right out of the box. The QR code would not scan during setup, and when I tried entering the serial number manually, the system showed that it did not exist. Customer service was quick to send a replacement, which I appreciated—but the second unit was also defective. This one would not detect or connect to a Wi-Fi network that is literally sitting right next to the door. Receiving two defective units in a row is extremely disappointing and raises serious concerns about quality control. At this point, I’ve lost confidence in the product and will be returning both units. Would not recommend.

I was very excited about this lock and it mostly lives up to expectations. It does what its advertised to do and it does it well. Once you know where to place your palm, it's easy to always get it right the first time and have the door unlock quickly. The palm vein unlock method itself is very cool and will make you feel like you're living in the future and should be a fun thing to show off to others at first too. The camera also does a good job for those who want a 2 in 1 combo or don't want to replace their old dumb doorbell. I won't be using the video doorbell feature for monitoring because I already have a video doorbell though. But I still wanted it because my parents stay with me sometimes and I don't have windows near the front door or a peep hole so the screen on the inside is a very useful feature for them so they can see who is at the door without having to open it. So for anybody in my position with elderly or kids, I think the version with the screen can be very useful to have. As for my dislikes. Two things stick out to me. First is that the lock motor is slow. Some new locks have much faster motors to turn the deadbolt nowadays. The Eufy on the other hand still uses a very slow one. Not a big deal, but it's a minor annoyance because I would like to see progress. The other is that the lock won't give you an option to turn on the interior screen automatically whether it senses motion or someone rings the doorbell. I know this was probably done intentionally to save battery. But they should give us to the option to have the screen turn on with one method or another so we can already see who is there when we approach the door. Other than that I am a Home Assistant user and integrated this lock into HA using Matter over WiFi. Only the lock and battery is exposed. You won't be able to expose the camera stream over Matter though. But for those that use Google Home or Alexa, the live stream is available. Control is fast(around ~1.5 seconds) but won't feel instant. That's just a minor nitpick on my part since I want everything to be as fast as turning on and off a light lol. I've had no issues like random disconnects so far. But it has only been a day so we'll see. Same goes for the battery life. No idea again since it has only been a day. All that being said I think it's still deserving of a perfect score because the main features of this lock are executed pretty well. I have a few nitpicks with it but I don't think it should be knocked down because of that. Compared to what is available right now, it's pretty much one of a kind with all that it has to offer. Just be sure that you want all these features because there are definitely cheaper options out there if you only want a palm lock or a lock/video doorbell combo. But for those that want it all, I think this is our only option and I can at least say that it does it well.

This product turned out to be ***really impressive**** and great! It's a unique marvel of multiple products in one device: smart lock with keypad, palm reading, physical key, connected doorbell, digital peephole AND security camera with AI. If you struggle to record your hands, I have a suggestion. See video (uploaded low res for privacy). Start with your fingers on the sensor at the same angle of the palm reader (top of device) and slowly raise your hand while keeping the same angle vs the reader. At some point it will register/recognize it. This process became super simple for the whole family to register all hands. At the location it recognizes the palm you can then make a mark on the door frame with a pencil to help you remember the exact location and angle to use next time. Simple and easy. Also, I read information on the product page, and some reviews likely repeating the page info, that you cannot duplicate the keys "for security reasons". ***BUT*** it turns out you can copy the keys as I did at the local hardware store, nothing different to other keys out there. This may seem like an issue but for us it was crucial to have the reassurance that we can each have a physical key to open the lock in an emergency if the battery or motor fails (it hasn't). So yes you can easily copy the keys (they include 2 with the device). The smart notifications detecting people at the door and recordings you can watch from anywhere and the autolock, state update and temporal passwords are already worth the price. On my first review, I was distressed that it required calling customer support to get the round faceplate to install on the door and that the customer support was not easy to reach. However customer support did reach out and did all they could to help me get the round faceplates quickly. Kudos to the eufy team! I encourage eufy to improve the product and communication in a number ow ways to make it even more awesome: Have better information on keys being able to be duplicated if needed, nothing to fear as every other similar lock out there will let you do that and this is an asset that could turn customers away fearing only 2 keys are included. Also, try to include all the right hardware in the box to avoid the issue of extra calls. Finally better support training to resolve and escalate things quickly. Overall, a great impressive product and team and I look forward to keeping using this device and learning more about the ways Eufy innovates in this space.

Its nice and has all the key features such as the video camera, doorbell & passcode. If you forget to recharge or run out of battery you can use a key to unlock as well.

It's great. I sucked at installing it but if I had ever fiddled with a doorknob before it would have been easier
