Quality and performance
I purchased this based on the wonderful results I've had with Aiper's pool cleaning robot, which is excellent, giving credit where credit is due. However, no such luck with the HydroComm, It has turned out to be a disappointment and not worth the cost. We've had a pool for 40 years and always had the water quality and chemicals withing the prescribed ranges, based on the results on the obtained with water testing kit at the pool supply store and at home, both were always almost identical. After using and following Aiper's HydroComm recommendations it's has been a nightmare to keep the PH and Chlorine levels as it should, I also had the water tested to verify the Aiper's results, is as if I was testing a different pool, while Aiper indicated a PH level of 9.4 the kit tested 6.2 and following it's recommendations it does not change the readings. I'm going back to the old method of testing the pool water with testing kits, it's a shame you guys were on to something wonderful. UPDATED REVIEW 09/20/2025 Follow up to my earlier review, it is the measure of a good company and or product when it all performs as expected, however, when a product fails to perform for any number of reasons, it's the company's response and how well it responds to it's customer's need, the true measure of the company. AIPER responded immediately to my earlier review and comments, providing me with excellent customer support, assisting me in trying to solve the issues with the HydroComm and continued timely follow up emails. Ultimately without my asking, they offered to either refund or replace the unit, a replacement was sent within 4 days , in addition they sent me one of their outstanding Aiper pool maintenance equipment as a gift for any inconvenience I may have experienced. All 3 items are performing as expected, Thank you for an outstanding customer service and your efforts in keeping this customer happy !!

An early-ish version with great potential from a solid company with **excellent** customer service!
UPDATE 12/7/2025 - I have used the HydroComm since October. In my earlier review, I was pretty harsh on the product. The app/sensor was buggy, to the point I didn't really trust it, and ended up removing the probes (twice) just to get it to work again. The first-tier AI support was just not helpful. Here we are, 3 months later. Being honest, the product is the product. It is well constructed, to be fair, and it does what it says it's supposed to do. The hardware still needs work to measure things that are actionable to the buyer (chlorine, pH, alkalinity and phosphates). Bonus points if it could also measure CyA. A lot can be done in software, I think, to make it easier for the user to know what to do -- if they know the pH level and the size of the pool, the app should suggest a recommended dose of muriatic acid (for example). The same could be said for chlorine, if the device could measure it in some future iteration. That said, I'm upping my review by 2 full stars for 2 reasons: 1) EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Aiper's customer service is probably the best I've seen from a hardware/tech company in quite some time. Not only did they reach out after my initial review, but two separate agents (not AI) reached out to me -- not just once, but multiple times until I had a chance to engage. They worked with me to try and get the device working again (more on that in a minute). Also, they worked REALLY hard to make everything right and a positive experience. The agent I worked with listened to my concerns, suggestions, and frustrations, acknowledged them, and said they'd pass them on to engineers. I can really see this product being a game changer in home pool care, as the other devices out there seem to be cheap, unreliable and not well supported. I believe Aiper can do a lot better. 2) Second reason: In the time I've had the product, I can tell the software developers are really working hard to try and improve/stabilize the bugginess that I referenced in my initial review. I appreciate that and their efforts are very noticeable. I'm encouraged by what I've seen and hopeful that more is still in the works. Ultimately, we came to a mutual agreement how to make everything right. I'm pleased with my agent's (and Aiper's) professionalism, interest in hearing my suggestions, and willingness to make the investment of time and money worth my while. I highly recommend Aiper as a company and even watching this product for future updates. I don't pretend that this stuff as "easy" to do, but I also think if anyone can do it, Aiper will get there. If they do, I'll even consider buying this product again. Regarding getting the product to work, finally: It's not clear in the instructions, but if you own this product and eventually have to remove the probes, know that you'll really have to work to get them seated correctly in the slot they have to be in. There are black o-ring seals up at the top near the contact points -- if you can see any part of that black o-ring, it's not in far enough and the HydroComm will not register the probe as being installed. This is one of those cases where a little time and "muscle" working the probes into the slot is warranted. You won't break anything, and your HydroComm will be happy again. :) FINALLY: While I didn't get it from Amazon, I will also say I am using the Aiper Surfer S2 pool skimmer robot -- THIS device is AWESOME. If I could review it here, I would give it 5 stars! I love being able to control it with my phone. Definitely recommend, if you're in the market for a robot pool skimmer. --------- Iโm a pretty techie guy and I want to like this product. But I canโt. First of all, anytime I go into the apps, it says the probe is not installed. I go back into the app and I can retest the water and it completes the test. When you ask for assistance from Aiper, all you get is their AI b.s. I donโt know where others are getting great service, but I havenโt seen it. Secondly, the readings are suspect at best. I measure this against a Leslieโs home water testing product and their in store test, and the HydroComm consistently is off on pH. Last, I donโt know what the developers were thinking on the readings. Functionally, donโt most people want to use these to determine water quality and how to fix it? Generally, for a filter type pool, you need chlorine, acid, and baking soda. This canโt even take readings and tell me how much to add. I still have to do โthe math.โ If something as basic as chlorine is off, and it knows the size of my pool, why not tell me how to fix it? Same with pH or alkalinity and the other readings itโs supposedly testing. These are basic maintenance items Iโd want to know. Instead it just tells me the water is Good or Fair and leaves it to me to figure out the solution. Make it easy! I might as well use the Leslie test and box this thing up. Not sure there is much value here for thr price.

Started good, but unfortunately disappointed
Barely a 2 months and the readings are terribly off..even after calibrating. I was super hopeful with this one because I have the Aiper Skimmer and I love it. But this disappointed me and I would not recommend. Too bad it cannot be returned but this has disappointed me like all the other similar smart monitors I have tried. The PH in the image is AFTER I calibrated it. I calibrated it and it got Worse.

Awesome product
I have just about given up on this thing. It says the water is fine one minute and then two minutes later tells me the water quality is poor. Nothing changed. It just reads everything differently from one minute to the next. I am about to box this thing up and send it back. Itโs too expensive to be dealing with this. UPDATE: I did return this monitor but I have to say, their Customer Service is amazing. They go above and beyond to make it right and I am impressed. They sent me another one and, Although it did not work for my hot tub, it does work beautifully for a swimming pool. Amazingly easy to use, monitors the pool water perfectly. I highly recommend this product for your pool.

Started great then stopped working well
Purchased this product and it was working great however after less than a year it is now showing inaccurate pH numbers. I have calibrated it 2 times and still showing issues with numbers being off. I also wish the unit string to install to the pool was shorter to avoid issues with children swimming in the pool safely.

Unit failed, but now works!
UPDATE: Changed from 1 to 4 stars --> Aiper contacted me back and addressed the issue. The unit is fully functional! Seems pH is spot on. Will be getting the chlorine measured at a pool store to make sure it is also within ranges. UPDATE 9/23/25: Changed from 4 --> 5 stars. I believe I may have gotten the first run production unit before. Now that Aiper provided a replacement, no issues at all. I have compared the results with my pool store with over 20+ tests and the pH is always spot on. ---- ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had high hopes for the Aiper Hydrocomm, but unfortunately, it has been a major letdown. The device began losing connection shortly after setup and failed to sync with the app consistently. It only worked intermittently for about five days before becoming completely unresponsive. Whatโs more frustrating is the lack of timely support from AiperโIโve been waiting for assistance with no meaningful progress. At this point, itโs essentially a $500 paperweight. Before purchasing, I strongly recommend reading the non-Amazon Vine reviews (free product given to select customers to provide a review), as they seem to provide a more accurate picture from actual paying customers. Overall, the product's performance and support have not lived up to expectations.

Get the PRO if you want to talk to the AIPER cleaner
UPDATE after 3 months: After testing the PRO version of this product (sent by AIPER as a courtesy) I can tell you that the communication with the X1 is solved. And last week it was a great device to have because my pool maintenance company didn't come do their thing, and I was able to monitor from far away the quality of the pool ahead of a pool party over the weekend. I did notice some inconsistencies as noted below, but nothing major or worrying. ___ Inconsistent interpretation of the water quality with similar values. I compared the values vs the typical test/chemical tube system and it was roughly aligned most times, but the app would tell me water was fine one minute, and not safe right after, with wildly different values. Had to do with the UI in the app, more than device. Should be fixed or made more clear in a next update!. Also, I couldn't use it to talk to the Scuba X1 Pro Max while submerged, which was one of the main selling points for me. Awesome, keeping in mind that these are incredibly sophisticated equipment, and therefore it requires calibration, and dedicated maintenance when not in the water.

wrong result, too expensive as a toy for nothing
Thought it would be a smart idea to have constant information about pool water quality, turns out only a fraction of information you need is available and even that information is far off reality. Non of the measured values is correct. Calibration is required. still of scale. For that price you can buy years of manual measurement strips and you can be sure about the results

Super simple setup; lets you monitor easily through an app
This device will let you test your pool less often and let you address problems quickly and in the comfort of your home. If you are a heavy pool user and want to make sure your pool is always clean and good to swim in at any time, this device can really help you out. The device is much larger than I thought - the circular part that houses the solar panel and floats above the water is roughly the diameter of a lunch plate. The device comes with a thick nylon tether to attach the device to the side of the pool. The device contains three slots to install three removable sensor probes. The kit comes with two active probes and one "dummy" probe that acts as a placeholder for the third slot. Presumably the vendor can sell a third kind of probe in the future to fit into the third slot. The two probes measure five things: pH (acidity), ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential), TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), EC (Electrical Conductivity aka salinity) and temperature. Note that currently the probes do not measure water hardness or alkalinity. You can infer chlorine concentration indirectly via ORP. Setup was straightforward. First, you have to remove the moistening cap on the blue probe and swap it with the regular plastic cap . Note that if you plan to keep the device out of water for more than a day, you want to put the moistening cap back on. The device connects to a phone app. When active, the device will test the water hourly and send your phone a notification if one of the measurements is bad. Note that the device has no display to show any of these measurements - you must use the app to look at the readings, and therefore your pool area needs to have strong Wi-Fi connectivity. You can configure it as a saltwater, freshwater, or a spa pool. You have to calibrate the device every 60 days. You calibrate it by immersing the device in the included clear plastic cup and mixing a series of pH buffer powders. There is roughly a year's supply of powder packets included. We've just opened the pool at our little vacation home, but so far we are loving the convenience of this remote monitor.

Working good with minor issue
Updated September 22nd 2025 - 4 Star I received a replacement for mine that was apparently faulty. New one is working much better than the previous one. First off, the temperature sensor has been very accurate comparing it to my control board and thermometer in the pool. PH is accurate but has recently spiked to 14 a few times. I found a fix for that. When this starts happening, I just take it out of the water and then fully submerge it to get any air bubbles out and it returns to normal levels again. Salinity has also been very accurate to my control board too. This one has provided the highest score for my pool compared to the old one. So the old one does seem like it was faulty from my testing. Battery life and solar charging also has worked excellent and it stays around 80% charge after losing 5-10% over night. I have added more pictures with the new results. I would fully recommend this monitor because I actually trust it now. ======================================================================================= Original July 1st 2025 - 1 Star - Lots of problems This product was something I was looking for to monitor my pool temperature and chemicals but it can not do any of that well at all. Temperature it can be right depending on the time of day and how much it is in the sun or not. It has has 2 probes that expire after one year initially but after the last update, they only have 19% left after 2 months of use. It appears they do not sell replacements, so we do not know the cost or how to get them. Also last update moved the salt scale to 3000 to 4000. My pool says 2700 to 3200 and the app use to be in that range and has now changed. PH use to be fairly accurate. Then the app said I needed to calibrate the probes and I followed the instructions with the base and water with solution. After that, it is now inaccurate on the low side. Before it was in range but would also spike to 14 randomly, which makes no sense. I use test strip on the regular and also take weekly samples to the pool store. Everything has checked out perfectly with our pool. With this product, my pool has had zero days of safe swimming with its tests, per the app. Mostly the ORP value never measures or rarely gets above zero. Now for the positives. Battery life and charging are excellent on it. I charged it when I first got it and it is been able to keep its charge between 70% to 85% with the solar charger. Support has also been amazing fixing app issues when I find them the next day. I love the historical data plus having graphs. All are very nice but completely useless with poor readings. I took a bunch of screenshots of the app to show what I mean. This is a great idea that has potential if you could trust that it is accurate.

Amazing product, completely simplifies pool maintenance
I recently ordered this pool water quality monitor for use in my above ground pool. The product arrived promptly and was very well packaged. Included in the package is the main unit, charging cable, calibration powder, cup and mixer, 2 probe covers - one large and one perforated, a lanyard and the user manual. The probes need to be replaced every 12 months. This device monitors and analyzes pool water 24/7 and is powered via the solar panel. It can also be powered using the included DC charger. Prior to initial use, I fully charged the unit. It will run up to 15 days on a single charge. You need to download the corresponding app (Aiper) to get water quality information and then create an account and register the product. The app also serves as a remote control and provides both water quality information as well as recommendations. The app interface is super easy to use and understand. The power button controls both turning the unit on/off (hold for 2 seconds) and entering Network settings (press and hold for 5 seconds) To apply network settings you can either scan the QR code or set it up via Bluetooth (Wi-Fi requirements are either 2.4 GHz or 2.4GHz/5GHz mixed network). I had no issues whatsoever with app installation and set up using the QR scanner code. The blue probe measures pH levels, water temperature and ORP (oxidation reduction potential) and the purple probe measures TDS (total dissolved solids), electrical conductivity and water temperature. The unit is recommended to be used in a pool temperature range of 5-45 degrees C. I love my pool but maintenance can be time consuming sometimes, especially at the beginning of the season when first starting it up. This little gadget takes out the guesswork and saves a lot of time with its very accurate reading, real time display on the app whether you're home or at work and it will also sends hourly updates. It's great that you can also use it to test hot tub water! The main unit and all components are well built and durable. This device, combined with my robotic pool cleaner, has completely changed the time required maintaining and cleaning my pool!! Great product, completely transforms and simplifies pool ownership!!

Takes the guess work out of monitoring pool levels
Another fantastic Aiper pool product for the win, as anyone knows who has a pool that monitoring your levels is extremely important to make sure that your pool is swimmable at all times and won't go green - enter the Aiper HydroComm Smart Pool Monitor which takes the guess work out of that and is a hands off way of monitoring your entire pools levels. The HydroComm Smart pool monitor, monitors your pool 24/7 and tells you everything in their handy app, at first when getting this it look very technical and a bit overwhelming to get started given the detailed instructions however once pool season rolled around and it was time to get this thing operating it actually wasn't hard at all to install everything and get it operating - there are some specific things you have to do especially when it comes to the PH Probe like taking the cover off, making sure that you don't touch the probes at all etc. but it was up and running in approx. 10mins. Downloading the app was very simple and so was connecting the product to the app via Bluetooth - no issues so far with that and instantly I had the readings available to me - it monitors the following: Temperature, PH Level, TDS, EC and ORP levels, basically a 5 in 1 testing system with real time monitoring. The app will update constantly but you can also manually re-test it and I can say that they are accurate especially for the temperature and PH level. I like that they provide you with a nice, good quality long lanyard so you can tether it to the stair or whatever you have so it doesn't float away and again with all Aiper products, the built quality is fantastic - they make some very good quality long lasting products. With that being said I did take off a star for two reasons and that is pricing and no replacement probes/re-calibration powder. In reading the instructions all the way through it states that the PH Probe should be replaced once a year or when it tells you to however, looking through their listings on Amazon as well as on their own website and there are NO replacement Probes available that I can find which leads me into pricing - this is an expensive item at around $600 which for what it does I would say is worth it HOWEVER if you cannot get replacement probes or re-calibration powder then it makes this unit basically un-usable after a year as per the instructions which usage for the pricing doesn't make that good of a price but with that being said I love however it takes the guess work out of testing/monitoring the pool levels and I get real time readings.

A great way to monitor the quality of your hot tub or pool water remotely.
We have an indoor hot tub that we use all year long. One thing that we have to always check is the temperature. We also keep a close control over the PH since this is important as bad PH can cause problems with the pumps and heater. It is always a pain to check the temperature by opening the cover and looking at the in water thermometer. PH involves test strips. I saw this Smart Pool Monitor and I thought it would be perfect for my hot tub. I have used AIPER pool products before and they are always very high end and well made. The pool monitor arrived nicely packaged in a very giftable box. This monitor is very easy to use. You charge it with the supplied cable. You need to put the AIPER app on your phone. You then connect the monitor to the app. This is very easy to do and works perfectly. You can connect with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi giving great range. The monitor will work for 15 days before it needs to be recharged again. If you are using this outside in a pool then it is solar powered and will charge when the sun is out. Inside you need to charge every 15 days. You put the monitor in the hot tub or pool and it begins to send measurements to your phone. The monitor measures temperature, PH, ORP (an indication of water's ability to break down waste products), EC (electrical conductivity), and TDS (total dissolved solids). What makes the app really nice is it gives you an overall health rating on the water. It also provides recommendations of what you need to do in order to improve the water quality. It also keeps historical data so you can track the quality of water over time. This is perfect for my hot tub and would work great for a swimming pool as well. I am very happy that I can monitor my hot tub from anywhere. I can see the 5 measurements without even opening the top on the hot tub. I do recommend this for anyone with a pool or hot tub. It is a very premium commercial-grade product that is very accurate in its measurements.
