How does a 45 lb plate not hit the inner thigh with hip width stance?

Hello, interesting question. Since an Olympic weight plate measures 18" in width, the shoulder width stance of a 5' 10" and taller athlete would not likely make contact. Of course arm length would play a role in the equation as well. But even for shorter lifters one must remember with the unit extended from arms the plates would hang at about knee level at upright point of movement. What is the difference between using a ez squat plate load or a trap bar/hex bar for doing squats?

It does not seem like you could get enough plates on this to get any benefit.  6 45s is only 270.  Can you fit 4 100s on this?

Since there are numerous brands that all vary in thickness the safest answer is 3 possibly 4.
