premium keyboard

this is the mechanical keyboard you can get for the money, for gaming or productivity. am going to write a small review about all the aspects of the keyboad and why its so great.1-cherry mx red keys:-80% of the keys on the keyboard are mechanical with cherry mx red keys, mechanical keys are way different than normal rubber dome or scissor key in laptops, first thing you will notice is that they do not wiggle 2nd you get a slight resistant from the keys (unlike rubber domes which have a slight resistance at the bottom of the press only) here you a sort of a spring resistance from the begening of the press all the way down, (no tactical pump like in cherry Mx blue or brown just a smooth resistance all the way down) the keys just go back to the top much faster and easier than rubber domes. the keys regesters at a approx 2mm or even less, so their very sensetive but I havn`t encountered any typing mistakes at all due to the resistance and the solid feeling of the keys, actuation force is 45g.why mx red: great for gaming, and great for long typing seasons. you won`t feel any ghosting or suffer a key not regestering at all in this keyboard, they are not as loud as cherry mx blues but they make a very nice sound once they hit bottom.2-keyboard construction and key coating:- if you even worked in a factory you will notice in the control room a unibody metal platform with a keyboard embedded in the platform, the k90 resemble the quality and the duarbility of this keyboard, the alumenium chasiss in the keyboard act as a support plate for the keys so the keys are slightly lefted 1cm above the alumenium.the keys coating feels like chalk, feels as solid and as sturby very premium.3-the dome keys:- the f keys, G macro keys, esc and the middle keys square with delete end and insirt are all dome, BUT these are not rubber domes these are silicone domes, and they feel really different than normal rubber domes, they have a better resistance and they actuate at a very light point, also silcone domes have a better life span, so why corsair took this strategy? if the keyboard was fully mechanical it would at least retail at 200$ or even 220$ I for once would never buy a keyboard which cost more than 160$.4-rest wrest:-truelly a soft touch as corsair claims, made of a very premium rubber with mirco holes for ventilation so your hands wont sweat, very high quality, even the cliping is by thumb screws to increase its durability and lifespan. tpying on the rest wrest is way more confotable than without a rest wrest.5-LED backlighting:- blue light for the mechanical keys and a dimmer white lighting for the macro G keys, 3 levels of lighting, every key is let indiviually and the light reflects to the aluminum giving a very nice light effect. the rest of the dome keys are not let such as the f keys and the delete square.6-media keys:- first mechanical keyboard to come across that has a dedicated media keys, with a mute key and very good volume roller, the roller is made of alumenium as well but the media keys are plastic and also has a dimmer led.7- macro keys and macro control:- you get 18 macros key with 3 different profiles to cyrcle from with a press of m1 m2 m3, you can assign them to anything you want from copy paste to application launch, they have a while backlighting and sit slightly lower than the rest of the keys so you can distinguish between them and the normal layout easily, you also get an on the fly macro recording key, like the blackwidow.8-why corsair and not razer blackwidow ultimate:- I was confused between the two especially when the k90 was out of stock, but evantually I have made my mind to get the k90, corsair is a company that has been selling hard drives and rams for years, you can imagine what kind of quality control they have especially when the slightest mistake in electronic manifacturing could lead to a total disaster, Imagine a company like that start producing keyboards! whats the failure rate?, add this to their well known revolutionary warranty and you get a very low failure rate a high quality assurance and if your so unlucky a very quick repair and replacment.why not blackwidow, I live outside of usa where shipping costs especially when shipping from my place to usa is very hight, it would cost me close to anew keyboard to have it shipped for rma or repair, blackwidow is a great keyboard but alot of people compaign from backlight issues, key stock and keyboard not working after 6 months,so I wasn`t willing to take the risk besides it doens`t have a full key rollover.9-full 20 keys rollover:- meaning you can press up to 20 keys togather and they would all regester, corsair has designed the pcb especially for this purpose along with a very fast regestering rate, ideally you will only need 6 keys rollover, imagine in first shooter game, you are cronched behind a wall or a road block reloading and wanting to throw a grenade from the side of the road block ctrl+r+q+g, you can do that with this keyboard, 20 keys is too much ?. not really, you never know what key combination your going to use in the future so its better to guarntee that you have a keyboard that is up to everything than wanting to upgrading every few months.conclustion and final thoughts:-for only 120 -130$ you get a premium keyboard that is worth every penny and can last you a decade, you will simply put your mind at ease for productivity and gaming, it would look professional and classy at home or at the office, you can utilize the G keys for anything you want and get can save you lots of effort and time especially when your jop require lots of keyboarding, cherry mx reds are a very good choice, not so laud and has a very low actuation force unlike the cherry black. so far I am very happy with this keyboard and seems like it will last me a very long time, it is truelly a piece of a art. you also get a usb passthrough and the usb wire is thick and very premium ideal for lots of wires setup since it gloag with the other cables.I hope this review was helpful and informative.

E**K

A very solid keyboard with a couple of quirks.

This keyboard does take a little getting used to due to the Cherry MX Red switches, but I'm really comfortable with it now and wouldn't trade it for anything.BE ADVISED, THOUGH! Don't think for a minute that you will be stealth-typing with this KB. The keys themselves hit the aluminum backplate and still make noise if you press them down all the way whilst typing.WHY DID I BUY IT? -It has a really great and unique design. the keys floating above the brushed aluminum backplate means that your keyboard is no longer impossible to clean without pulling keys. -Cherry MX Red switches means mechanical keys with no 'click'. -It's drop-dead gorgeous.BEST FEATURES: -Has a volume roller which is infinitely more useful than those near-worthless function keys you'll find on other KBs. The roller itself is knurled and aluminum and makes me feel like a millionare every time I touch it. -A one-touch mute button! Fantastic! -Has lots of function keys if you're into that sort of thing, and the ability to record macros or switch profiles on the fly using only KB buttons. -Has one USB2 expansion port for your mouse. -Nice rubberized wrist rest attached by pivot thumbscrews. -Super-durable braided cable. -Super-bright 3-level backlighting, dims to a nice low level too.THE GOOD: -This is probably the best looking keyboard you can buy. The brushed aluminum combined with the floating key style and backlighting make this one seriously impressive keyboard from a visual perspective. -Cherry MX Red switches aren't 'clicky', reducing noise somewhat. The keys are super responsive as well. -Does a great job of staying still on a glass desk.THE MEH: -Cherry MX reds still make a lot of noise when typing due to bottoming out the keys, especially since there's no bump stops. -Doesn't come with a driver CD. I don't really care, but that might bother some people. -A headphone/mic jack and more USB ports would be nice, considering many other KBs at this price point have them. -Profile editor software is pretty confusing, and I have yet to find a FAQ for it. I just program it through the hard buttons instead. -The aforementioned braided cable is ludicrously stiff, but does tend to hold its shape if you bend it.THE UGLY: -The backlighting is very inconsistent. The letters are fine, but the top-row numbers are barely lit compared to the puncuation marks on those same keys. -The function keys and ins/del group keys are actually dome-switch, not mechanical, which also dims their backlighting in a big way, and makes them feel squishy compared to the others. After a week or so, I wouldn't trade this keyboard for anything, despite my few gripes. It would've had 5 stars if not for the inconsistent backlighting.
