Competent Mac-compatible hard drive for both original data and backups.
I use a large external hard drive for two purposes: ordinary backup and to keep my very large ripped CD collection of music for which my main computer disc simply doesn't have room. The large size allows backups with multiple versions so I can go back in time if I need to. Belts and braces, an old school idea. My previous drive died suddenly and this was the best cost/size value I could find from a reputable vendor. In the past, I have had trouble with Seagate drives on my various Mac's, but this one worked immediately without a single problem. It is now handling all the relevant backups (there are several including some cloud stuff) and my music. It is quiet and, so far as I can tell, faster than the drive it replaced. It also seems to be interfering far less in other devices and their operations than the old drive did. That may be, however, because the old drive was complaining about being ill before it died completely and this new one is just being "normally" competent. I gave it 5 stars because it is doing what it is supposed to do without causing any trouble. Assuming it doesn't die a week from now, then it was a good buy. Do remember to reformat away from exFAT before using it on a Mac.

It does the job well
I have several smaller hard drives I use to store photos and old files but they are getting old and it is hard to organize files, especially photos across several drives so I was in the market for a large hard drive to better organize my old files. I opted for the Seagate 22TB drive because of its' size and, for the size of the drive, it was relatively inexpensive compared to other options. Things I like about the drive: 1) It has a large capacity but is relatively small compared to my other external drives; 2) it is plug and play. I have some drives my system has a hard time identifying sometimes but there are no issues with this drive; 3) everything works out of the box. I have had no issues so far; 4) I use it on 3 systems and it works well on all 3 systems and is easy to move from one to the other. It is not my fastest drive. have a portable Sandisk SSD that is faster but it has not been a problem. You can hear it working but it is not annoying. Overall I am very pleased with the Seagate Drive.

Got VERY hot before it stopped working. Began beeping. Does not register with computer.
Worked for a couples hours. Got REALLY hot and then stopped registering with my computer. When I unplugged the unit, then re-plugged it back in, it began making a beeping noise. I let it sit for a few hours, but it's still not registering when plugged into my computer, and is still making the beeping noise. At the $450 price point wish I could say it's too good to be true (over priced; that's computers in 2026), but alas, even at the current price no dice on reliability. Also, just to add additional salt, the unit only offers 20TB of storage, not 22TB as listed. I'm still in need of mass storage so will return the unit and (hopefully) circle back with a 3-star review if the replacement isn't useless / lasts more than 24-hours. Assuming it's just I got a bunk order, but still annoyed, and still need something which functions as mass storage. Whammy.

Good value and Ready to go!
I purchased the 22TB in Dec of 2025. So far, so good. Good value. I can't speak to all of the variations of the product, but this one came with a power supply, which includes lots of adapters for what I imagine works in most countries. It also came with a 3 foot usb cable for connecting to a usb-A port. It arrived pre-formatted exFAT. So, out of the box, it am able to use it with both my Windows PC and my Mac. Making it very convenient to move files back and forth to both. It has 20TB available disk space empty. They do note though that if you intend on using it with Mac's Time Machine for automated backups. you'll need to reformat it for Mac (only). It runs relatively quiet. However, I have it sitting on a wood table and I do hear thumping during read/write as the table acts as a sounding board... This could be reduced if I were to put it on some sort of surface that absorbs the vibrations. It runs warm, not hot during very active sessions of moving files to it. Over all, very pleased.

Massive external hard drive at a great price!
Massive external hard drive at a great price! I'm only using it for back-up storage, and it's exactly what you would expect. Very happy with the capacity, speed, heat (barely any), and noise (also barely any). Also, for this size hard drive, it is somehow cheapest to get this external drive than even an internal one. (One note for Mac users is that you may want to disable the "Energy" settings for attempting to put external drives to sleep AND maybe also disabling allowing your Mac to go to sleep, since both of those actions can cause the hard drive to act as though it has disconnected without being ejected first.)

Great price for Drives
I needed some additional storage for backups...Seems everywhere drives are costing way more than they did last year. I have two Seagate 20TB drives and have never had a problem with them (Well except for one getting bricked by a bad hub). I have to admit they are a little loud compared to my other drives (WD, Toshiba), but that's no biggie. I found these to be a great bargain as I really don't need server grade drives for routine stuff. They shipped them out super fast! I was like a couple days..boom had drives-These guys rock!

PERFECT
As promised, Amazon delivered in "one" day. As advertised, this 22TB was plug and play for my Win11 PC. First job was to copy 3TB of photos from another hard drive. I've owned Seagate and WD external hard drives with no problems. However, the drive that just failed (one of the reasons I purchased this Seagate 22TB) was a WD Red 8TB NAS hard drive. Also, two years ago, another WD NAS Red hard drive failed. I'm through with NAS and do back ups now on only external hard drives.

Great hard drive
Amazing speed, easy plug in and go with good compatibility, very portable. Comes with a set of plugs for anywhere you are using this, spins up fast, great storage capacity per dollar in these trying times.

Pretty good!
Just got the HD today. It is doing what it's supposed to do. The speed is fast, but a bit of rumbling when in use. Nothing too major, just put it on a piece of cloth and it should absorb some noise. The LED light is bright (from the inside), so if you have the HD in your bedroom, it might disturb your sleep. I got a 22TB HD at about $400 after tax. So it was about $18CAD per TB, pretty inexpensive compared to what I've bought before, 8TB for $200. Now I don't have to worry about insufficient storage for my photos (JPG and RAW).

Buena combinación de precio y capacidad
Llegó antes de la fecha. Es más pesado y ancho que el modelo anterior probablemente por la capacidad en terabytes. Espero que la durabilidad vaya acorde.

Takeaway - you can buy from this seller - but stay well away from Seagate
I read one article that suggested a 7.3% failure rate within three years for Seagate Expansion drives. Well then lucky me - ordered 2 and one was a brick 24 hours later. Here's the problem. By that time I had already copied 4-5 TB of confidential project data to the drive - the drive that now just clicks and will no longer mount. So .. there is every buyers dilemma with a drive that dies - the sellers expect you to either send back drives with platters full of data or eat the costs and keep the dead ones. The ethical thing to do would be to send a replacement drive and let the user destroy the dead drive - i would have been happy to send pics after introducing the drive to a sledgehammer. Seagate however wanted me to send some parts to satisfy their certificate of destruction process but would provide no documentation as to what parts they needed to satisfy their COD nor any timeframe for replacement - can't make this up. Further, to start the Seagate COD process you have to agree to accept a used drive as a replacement - as someone that paid for a new drive that died within 24 hours you might imagine my reply to that requirement. Update Apr28/26 - After some considerable back and forth between seller and Seagate the seller stepped up and took responsibility and replaced the dead drive. Translation - the seller provided better customer service than the manufacturer was willing to provide. Fair. Thank you. Takeaway - buy from this seller - but stay well away from Seagate.

Garbage do not buy.
Stopped working after 2 months. Seagate has over the years been reliable and I run there drives in my server.. However for this to fail after 2 months and for me to lose all my data is just catastrophic. Turns on makes horrible noises and doesn't show up on the computer anymore. Decided to remove it from enclosure voiding the warranty but possibly being able to save my data but it is definitely something failed inside the drive. Seems from reviews that others have had the exact same issue so I would stay away from this product. Even if I did warranty it I could never trust it again. Years of data lost. :(
