It has worked well for me after I used it a few times. You mix the ice cream and then use the refrigerator to freeze the ice cream. Then you mix it with the machine to get the consistency that you want.

I expected a machine that would freeze and make ice cream. This is a churn for already frozen dessert. Not what I was looking for.

The push button programs take the guesswork out of how long, or what speed to set the machine on to get the desired outcome. With this machine, you receive three (3) containers with lids, scoop, cleaning cloth, and the instruction manual. The containers are pint sized and only one drawback is you need to have one of the containers empty to be able to lower the machine to store it its compact form. Also, DO NOT LOSE OR DAMAGE THESE CONTAINERS! To replace them, ordering them from IcyTreat directly is very costly. Each container was listed at $66.53 and another listed at $25.99, at the time of writing this review. Although this machine is not considered a one-and-done, it does create a decent end product. By one-and-done I mean that it also freezes the mix. With this ice cream maker, you prepare your base and freeze overnight. When you are ready to mix in your add-ins, just add to the base and mix it up with the selected consistency you are looking for. I found that after the machine finished, the ice cream was a little soft for my liking. I would freeze a little longer and make it a harder consistency. The parts are all easy to clean up afterwards. This machine will make two (2) pints at a time and the leaves the third pint container available to store the machine. Or if you keep the machine extended, you can make all three (3) pints. We usually will go the three (3) pint route and leave the machine open. It does not take up too much space on the counter. Actually, it is about the size of a smaller coffee maker. We like that there are options to make sorbet, icy drinks, milkshakes, along with ice cream. There is a lot to experiment with. The recipe book has some basic recipes included. If you look online there are many examples of recipes to try on different settings, even though they are meant for other manufacturers models. This is like a blender, but with a defined purpose. This speciality is what makes it worth having. All in all, if you are a fan of ice cream, this is a simple device to help you make your own frozen treats in the comfort of your own home. It is a great way to make all natural ice cream and control which ingredients you include. This is good for the health conscious, and the frugal alike. The outlay can be considered a little dear, especially if you are on a budget. However, ice cream can become expensive to purchase. With a machine to help you make your own, it will prove to be an investment over time. If you are a casual ice cream consumer, this may not be something worth the investment. Aside from that, this is a quality home appliance that is easy to maintain and clean and makes decent ice cream. It is not instant ice cream, but it is the next best thing. Highly recommended. I am impressed with the IcyTreat machine. We got an ice cream maker so we could control the ingredients due to allergies as it is getting more and more difficult to find premade ice cream I could eat. With IcyTreat I know exactly what is in each pint. I also love that it has 12 programs all executable with one touch so each frozen treat is perfectly made. We have been able to try other frozen treats and drinks that we would not normally eat/drink such as sorbets, frozen yogurt, slushies or milkshakes. I love that it comes with 3 pints which is the perfect number for our family for different varieties and tastes. This machine is really well built with stainless steel parts including a dual sided blade system that provides superior processing to other machines on the market ensuring that the frozen dessert is smoother and without any icy patches that have been a problem with other units and affect the taste and mouth feel of the frozen treats. I particularly like how easy this machine is to clean. With this unit the spinning rod is fully removable and can be cleaned completely in the dishwasher. On other machines the rod is a permanent part of the machine AND it withdraws up into the machine’s plastic housing taking remnants of your ice cream with it where you can’t get at it to clean it fully. Yuck! This IcyTreat machine’s spinning rod goes in the dishwasher along with the pints and lids for a thorough cleaning. Nothing survives in this house unless it can go in the dishwasher. Overall a great machine that I’m looking forward to trying more recipes from the included recipe book this summer.

This IcyTreat Ice Cream Maker Machine has an easy to use touch control panel that allows you to make a variety of different frozen treats like Gelato, Lite Ice Cream, Ice Cream, Sorbet, Frozen Yogurt, Italian Ice, Slushi, Icyccino, Frozen Drinks and Milkshakes in your own home using your own fresh ingredients pretty much any time you want. It also has a Respin/Mix-in mode so you can easily adjust the consistency of your frozen treats or add in things like chocolate chips, nuts, cookies or other ingredients for even more variety. It's fairly compact in operating mode measuring just 17.5" tall x 7.25" wide x 11" deep, so it take up less space on your counter top than typical pod style coffee maker. The body is motorized and can be lowered to just 13.75" tall, making it easier to store in a cupboard when it's not being used. It has a powerful 500W brushless motor and uses a thick, double sided, stainless steel mixing paddle to easily churn through pretty much any ingredients you may want to mix up. The bottom of the ice cream maker has four suction cup feet to prevent it from moving around on your counter and there are built in safety features that will prevent it from running unless all the components are properly inserted and locked in place. It will also stop the machine if motor gets overloaded while mixing ingredients that are frozen solid. The mixing paddle/shaft and locking cover are easy to remove and can be washed by hand or in your dishwasher, same goes for the 3 mixing pints and silicone lids. This kit includes 3, 500ml mixing pints with silicone lids so you can make three different flavours at a time, a metal ice cream scoop, a cleaning cloth, the user guide and quick start guide as well as a recipe book with over 50 different recipes. The recipes show you all the ingredients you need and give you an estimated amount of prep time required for each recipe as detailed instructions so even a first time user can make ice cream without any difficulty. You do need to pre-freeze your ingredients in the mixing pints for 24 hours in advance because the ice cream maker does not have a built-in freezing mechanism. Once everything has been prepared and frozen you just lock the pint into the base, twist the locking cover clockwise to lock it down, select the treat you're making and press the Start/Stop button and the machine will take care of the rest. It does default to Full mode so it will make a full pint, but you can also select Top mode if you only want 1/2 a pint and are re-freezing the rest for use later. It works pretty quickly and our first batch of ice cream was ready in a little over 5 minutes. The consistency was similar to what you get from an ice cream truck but you can put the pint back in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes if you want a harder/firmer ice cream. Overall we're very happy with how quick and easy this ice cream maker was to use and looking forward to making ice cream and milk shakes for our grand daughters this week-end. Highly recommended!

My family and I tested this ice cream maker with coffee ice cream and blueberry frozen yogurt. It comes with an instruction booklet and recipe booklet with vegan, keto, low-fat, zero sugar and dairy-free options in English only (but it’s quite well written English) First, the machine arrives in a compressed state suitable for storage so it fits in a smaller box, with one tub on the shaft, and that state needs to be undone by plugging it in and tapping LIFT/STORAGE. You can then take the tub out by turning its lid and rotating it out with the unlock button on the left side of the base. To make any frozen treat with this machine, you first have to prepare the treat in a tub and freeze it yourself for 24 hours. Most of the time, it ends up hard, and the machine then aerates it by beating it with a metal disc (that is not sharp, so you can clean it easily and safely) going down into the frozen treat. The machine has suction cups so that the motor running does not make the machine move too much on the surface it rests on. Make sure the surface is clean and flat. Ice cream made with this machine gets quite creamy and airy and almost feels like soft serve ice cream, though putting any remainder back in the freezer does make it super hard again, requiring the use of this machine to aerate it again. And frozen yogurt is quite creamy and soft but without airiness. We had to use the MIX IN/RESPIN option for everything, as suggested by the recipe book to make things creamier, otherwise things stayed too hard. CAVEATS: * The machine cannot reach the bottom 1 cm (0.4”) of tubs at all. That means the bottom of anything that is hard in the freezer will stay hard after going into it. * A tub has to be in the machine for the LIFT/STORAGE option to work. If there is none, all options on the touchscreen are disabled. So if you use all tubs and want to compress the machine to store it, you can’t, and need to use only 2. Overall, for what it does, it’s a great little machine with a nice recipe booklet.
