Works great! Much better than vinegar. No scrubbing and won't eat base metal.
This stuff is brilliant for rusty steel, better than white vinegar. I had bolts and bicycle parts that were basically clean, but pretty well rusted. No caked on grease or dirt, a good layer of rust but not caked up thick. I put them in a plastic container of this stuff. It dissolves the rust into the solution, so no wire brushing needed unless the part is covered in gunk. It takes a while. I did the first screw in an ultrasonic cleaner and they were done in an hour. I put the more complicated parts with deep sockets into a container of this and let it soak for a couple of days, they came out beautiful! Depending on the steel it will either come up clean or have a gray/black conversion coating. Great for screws/tools, the conversion coating helps hold oil to prevent future rusting. It won't eat the base metal. Rusty pliers could sit in this for a month, the rust will dissolve but the pliers won't have any pitting except for what the rust did. I wouldn't use it on my antique rifle, because the color might turn, but it's great for general purpose stuff like tools and hardware.

Amazing for removing rust. Great product, and great that it's not caustic like alternatives.
This chemical is amazing for removing rust. I had a terrible situation where I had stored chlorine shock packets in my garage, and didn't realize the plastic bags containing the shock powder had degraded to the point that the chlorine was out-gassing in my garage, creating a hyper-oxidizing environment, which subsequently rusted a significant quantity of my hand tools, of which I have an extensive collection. Unfortunately, I had originally thought the issue was due to simple humidity levels, and had INCREASED air circulation in the garage space, serving only to make the problem worse, as it accelerated the spread of the chlorine vapors. This product has been an amazing tool for removing this rust from my hand tools. It's been a fair bit of work, but this stuff really works. No hard work scrubbing or scraping or brushing. Just soak, rinse, protect, and go! The rinse and protect steps are VITAL. I made the mistake of forgetting and letting some batches soak for a couple WEEKS. Don't do that. A black sludge was generated which hardened and was actually hard to remove from the tools. I had to use more of this product to help dissolve this hardened sludge, and it turned those tools a black color. So, don't do THAT. As long as you take them out of the soaking fluid according to the instructions, it works GREAT! And, once you rinse the tools, IMMEDIATELY coat them with your favorite rust preventative. Your tools' original rust preventative, whether chrome or otherwise, is GONE. You MUST apply something new that will adhere well. Paint, oil, or even WD-40. Coat the tools or you will see rust on them again in short order. GREAT PRODUCT! Safe to use! Easy to use if you follow the instructions! Pay attention to the instructions, and I bet you'll see the great results I saw when I used it properly :)

Magic Liquid actually works as advertised, LOVE THIS
Wow, a mystery formula wonder chemical that ACTUALLY WORKS AS ADVERTISED!! I LOVE THIS STUFF. Its nice to work with, no burns, no fumes, no problems. Reuseable several times. You fill a container close to the size and shape of rusty metal object or tool with the liquid and drop your tool in and let it sit a day or two, pull it out and VOILA, its magical, rust is all gone, left with a clean light greyed metal, rinse with water, (safe for environment and drains), wipe with tool oil. Light wire brushing of heavy rusted areas might be required. This is a soak solution, probably want to buy the gallon size for coverage in larger containers, the object must be submerged in solution. I bought the quart first to try it being skeptical of miracle liquid solutions and i was blown away by how well it worked so i bought a gallon now. Skip the quart if you have more than a few small items to clean, trust me it works.

Make sure you wash out gas tanks before using!
Originally I bought a 3.5 gallon bucket of this stuff to de-rust in the inside of my motorcycle tank. The website says to wash any grease/oil and dirt. off of the parts you're going to soak, but after draining the gas from my tank and letting it sit for a day, I forgot to wash the tank out. I filled the tank with Evapo-rust and let it sit for approximately 24 hours and when I checked it it hadn't done anything. I contacted the manufacturer via their website contact form and received a reply that any amount of gasoline would screw up the Ph and cause evapo-rust not to work properly. So that was around $60 down the drain since it apparently ruins the product. It doesn't mention this in the directions I'd read on the website. This time around I soaked it with dish soap 3 times, rinsing it out 3 or 4 times after each soak. I'll update this review once I see how it works this time. **UPDATE** Ok, so I've had my tank soaking for one week and one day and this stuff is doing the job. It's taking awhile, but one of the reasons I decided to go with this stuff was that it only eats the rust and will not affect the metal. I didn't want to have to babysit my tank through the rust removal processes, so being able to forget about it for a couple of days was ideal for me. I think it probably would have worked faster had I drained the product, rinsed the tank, and replaced the product every day. The instructions tell you you may need to rinse your part and resoak to remove a film that might prevent further penetration into the rust. The instructions indicate that heavy rust might need at least an over night soaking, and while I didn't think mine would be considered "heavy" rust, it certainly wasn't light rust. Now that the rust is pretty much gone, there's pretty decent pitting in the metal in there. I wound up buying another gallon locally (total 3 gallons) because I have no way of telling if all the rust is removed aside from what I can see through the filler hole. I would recommend getting enough of this product that will at least mostly fill your tank to minimize how many different positions you have to leave the tank setting. I really want to find something heavily rusted that I can drop into the solution so I can better see the progress. That and it's a bit of a pain draining it out of the tank, rinsing it out thoroughly, and then pouring the product back in. I also filtered the product through a t-shirt each time I drained it out of the tank to remove the little bits of rust that came out. This stuff definitely does a good job and it's safe to use and won't eat anything but the rust. I wasn't concerned about this because I'm getting a dent fixed and getting it repainted, but it doesn't appear to harm the paint at all. I have spilled this stuff a decent amount though this process and aside from making your hands a little sticky, it's easy to work with. If you're in a hurry this might not be the product for you unless your dealing with really light rust, but if you're like me and want something that you can "set and forget" it will work for you. I waited until winter so I wouldn't have to go without riding my bike for the repairs, so this was a perfect solution for me.

Evapo-Rust
Wow, does this stuff really work! I was very skeptical and then tried it and it works wonderfully! It was packed nice. There was no leakage and can be reused multiple times. Very durable! It was a little pricey, but very good value for the money.

Definitely removes rust.
I have an old gas tank that had eight years of rust on the inside. I soaked it for 24 hours, and when I looked inside, it was bare, clean metal. Drained it back into the bottle, because I've got to reuse it a few times to get all sides of the tank, but this stuff really works.

This stuff is amazing...
It works by chelation so there are no caustic acids or VOCs. And it works incredibly well. I've used it for a few years now and have thrown away my Navy Jelly and all other rust removers. It's simple, safe, reuseable, and gets into all the nooks and crannies to completely remove rust. Really awesome stuff.
