It allows you to plug US devices into UK/Irish outlets, but it does not convert voltage. Your device must be compatible with the local voltage (220-240V) on its own. My laptop did fine, but (for example) the hotels had warnings about curling irons. USB slots charged mobile devices just fine. And it works fine with multiple devices. I loved how small this was. It would be chunky in your pocket, but it's fine for a small bag.
