YHTAUTO Front Hood Gas Struts Lift Supports for Volvo

Great product. perfect fit for our 2003 Volvo S80. have to use a small flat screwdriver and pry the retaining ring off (dirctly behind the head of the ball/socket, and inline with the shaft; you wedge the screwdriver in and pry back. the ring will lift a bit and then you can pull them off. putting the new ones on were a snap. I put the top (hood) side on first, and then had a tough time lining up and fitting the bottom one. I panicked for a few seconds, till i realized that you have to lift/lower the hood a few degrees, until the bottom one lined up....then it pops right on. very happy with this. Our near 20 year old volvo has a brand new hood function! thanks.

I bought a set for my 2005 Volvo V70 (uses 2 struts) and they are a perfect size and seem well made except for one thing. One of them has misaligned/rotated caps such that the caps would not fit over the little receiver balls on the car. The receiver caps need to be in the same plane. See pic. I could not figure how to rotate them without loosening the tip and extending the length of cap. If the vendor knows how to adjust this, please reply, otherwise I will return these. Update: thank you to those who answered my question! with lots of brute force and grippy gloves I was able to twist/rotate the caps into alignment, so now it fits. I would suggest these struts come with instructions which include this info.

Perfect fit for the hood on my 2004 S80. Installation only took a couple minutes. It'll be nice to not worry about the hood dropping unexpectedly.

Much cheaper than the $110 for the factory gas strut, and works just as well so far. The stock park was no longer capable of holding the hood open in a slight breeze, but this one is strong enough to lift it from about 3/4 up and hold it in wind. The car only required one gas spring, and I was worried that one might not be strong enough as it is sold in a pair, and older models use both, but it has faired well so far. Installation was very easy once I worked out how to pry open the clips with a flathead screwdriver. It does make a strange sound when closing the hood that the original didn't, but the original was busted, so we will see how this pans out. Will have a spare if it dies prematurely I suppose.
