I am a special education teacher at the junior high level, and I use these kits as reinforcers in my classroom. They work really well to keep students engaged and give them something motivating to work toward. The projects are positive, hands on, and help keep them productively busy. They are also fairly easy to build as long as students follow the instructions carefully. Overall, this has been a great classroom resource and my students really enjoy earning the chance to build them.

Gave as a gift to my 8-year-old nephew and he absolutely loved building it. Definitely recommend for kids who love building things and doing STEM projects. He did need a little help from his mom and dad, but it was a fun experience for all (especially considering both his parents are mechanical engineers)

This was the almost perfect gift for my son who just turned 9 who is into building/ creating things! The fact that he had to plug the electronics together and build the car itself was great! There was one small wiring part that i needed to do, but he did the rest. It drives surprisingly well, and i look forward to getting other versions of this. Cons for this one i would say that, where the 'front' connects to the 'back' is a little weak so i had to help support it when he was screwing that section together. Also after you attach the 'person' you are supposed to flip it upside down to screw in the piece that holds the batteries from falling out. Again i had to support that so the character wouldnt break. I would have much rather seen just a battery cover like you see on your remote, as you will have to un screw this last piece everytime you need to change batteries.

9 and 10 year olds with varying skill needed minimal assistance and had so much fun building and racing the cars. These kits have everything except batteries and were an excellent purchase. Keep track of screw sizes and the screw driver to be able to swap out batteries. Definitely worth the purchase.

This was so fun to put together with my 13 year old son! We enjoyed every minute of it. He loves the stem kits on Amazon, but this was by far his favorite one and for the price, you can't beat it!

I don’t understand all the 5 star reviews. The directions were terrible and misspelled throughout the whole thing. The on/off switch came broken so it doesn’t even work. My son was really excited to do this and then very disappointed and sad by the time we finished.

My 10 year old got this for Christmas yesterday, and he is thrilled with it! He immediately put it together with no assistance, and only had one small bit of damage to a front fender, which did not effect the function. (He did the damage popping the piece out of the sheet, it was intact when it arrived.) He managed to do all the wiring and assembly himself, and was driving it around the house successfully by dinner time! He said that "I almost asked dad for some help doing the heat shrinking part, but he told me where a lighter was and I was able to do it with no trouble on my own. This is the best STEM kit I have done in a while!" (He is a cub scout and has been trained to use knives, lighters etc. safely and correctly from a young age. You might decide if your kid needs help with that part.) I am considering keeping this on my list of potential birthday gifts to his buddies who are science/tech minded!
