I always burn myself on gas lighters when lighting a pipe or candle. I'm also a little paranoid about my gas lighters that go missing. This could end up forgotten in a box somewhere and just be a dead gadget, not a fire hazard. I tested it on my candles and incense. I had some difficulty lighting the incense, but candles light easily, MUCH more quickly than with a gas lighter. It seems like it will work fine with pipes, I'll update if not.I wish it were slimmer and lighter. I realized it was neither of these things when purchasing, but was still surprised by the heft and size. It's much larger than your average gas lighter. YES you can light candles upside down, but the button is near the head of the lighter, so if your candle holder is tall and narrow that won't work. I think the on button would be better if placed at the base or at least further from the head. The cap does stay open, but it feels flimsy and like it will loosen quickly (I may try to tighten the cap pin, if it's not riveted).If you are like me and a child trapped in an adult's body, you're really going to want to touch that pretty purple X. Don't.

I chose this one because it showed example photo of it lighting a pipe, while most others were for cigarette or cigar use only. It barely worked at that angle (lighting a pipe) and even for a cigarette it would only light part of the tip or blacken the whole side ,burning (a lot of intense heat, that is) my face in the process. unless you hit it just perfectly on the arc, which perhaps requires some practice, it just isn't worth using. more frustrating than it's worth. would rather strike a match 100 times a day. returned as defective, perhaps I got a bad one. Wouldn't take a chance again though.

Cool lighter, works well, but it's larger than I expected, about the diameter of a C battery, but longer. There is a main power switch that's very small on the bottom, then a secondary button on the side that activates the lighting element. While I understand this is a safety feature, I would prefer a one button solution for a lighter that I carry with me, hence my title.

Probably wasn't designed for bowl, but thats what I bought it for! Was hoping to be able to spark a bowl in heavy wind, but unfortunately because the arc does not extend out at all you have to jam the nose into the bowl, which blocks the contacts and the arc goes out. Probably works fine for joints/cigarettes.

Love this lighter only had two problems with it 1. The switch that turns it on and off at the bottom was difficult for my to switch it on and off very stiff 2. The cap was very loose right out of the box and continues to loosen from using it and I feel it will eventually fall off but other than that it charges fast its easy to use and a very cool looking lighter

 Had for less than a week and it just started malfunctioning. Don't think I'll be buying again. When I order goods I expect quality not shoddy.

Just came in the mail today! Pretty neat little lighter. I tried to use mine with a metal dugout and shocked my lips LOL. Don’t be an idiot like me!! It lit my candles and boyfriends cigarette with ease though.

I’ve had this for about a year now and it still works great! The only discrepancy is the little rod came out that connects the lid. I just used a stud earring to connect it back. Really easy fix though. So it’s still worth five stars to me!
