Precision Brand 45110 Tool Black
This was the first time that I used this product, and I have to say that so far I am very pleased with the results! I have blackened several different parts, all tool steel, this OLD Craftsman non-quick release gear turned out excellent!! I started with prep!! PREP IS VERY IMPORTANT!! CLEAN YOUR PARTS WELL! REMOVE ALL DIRT RUST GREASE OIL and then wash it again! THE PART MUST BE CLEAN AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! My part still had most of the original factory black oxide still on it, and I wanted to see what would happen when I dumped it in anyway. I was expecting it not to blacken all the way because it wasn't down to bare steel, but it still did. Overall, I give this product a good rating. It may not be as durable as having the real hot black oxide job, as far as wearability, but it's still a whole lot cheaper in cost compared to the hot black oxide process. 👍👍

Not as expected.
I saw 5 star reviews, but I didn’t have the same results. Maybe because I had attempting to use this on firearm parts? For the price there are better options!

Great black oxidizer.
I do various metal projects and use this oxidizer all the time. Excellent product, easy to use. I just clean the work and etch, I don't use the recommended cleaner because the type of work I do does not need to be super clean...
